Good experience great location

  • 5 of 5

The Riverton Retreat was better than expected! There was so much room for all of us to lounge and share time together inside or in the very private backyard seating areas outside. We all wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy our surroundings a bit more. The kitchen had ample counter space for preparing a few meals and gathering around for happy hours and late night visiting as the main living room was just off the kitchen. The kitchenette, leather couch and lounge chairs were all very comfortable and made us feel warm and cozy. There was a whole other living room off the dining area that was so welcoming as we entered the front door and the stairs to the second level were very pleasing to the eye. The whole place was very tastefully decorated and the color scheme flowed so beautifully throughout the house. There was plenty of space for all of us to sleep, 2 of the 5 bedrooms were master bedroom size with one having a large bathroom and huge walk in closet. There was some whimsical art pieces and decor that was delightful to find throughout the house as well. There was also a large room set up for fun and games leading out to the backyard area with a pool table, darts, dominos, cards and such. All and all it was a wonderful experience and I hope we can make it back to Riverton Retreat some time in the future.

Owner's Response: I am thankful to our guests for giving such a grand review. The whole house speaks to our guests and when someone like Catherine takes time to express it so lovely it completely takes my heart away. Thank you.

This house worked out perfectly for our family with plenty of bedrooms. Although we were not actually at the house very much, it was clean and comfortable. Thank you!

Great location next to the wineries!

  • 4 of 5

Everything was great! Place was clean and good size. We did find long black hairs on white pillows and sheets in one of the guest rooms.

Owner's Response: Jessica and her guests left the place in great condition. We pride ourselves on a spotless experience. All bedding is washed after each visit. It appears the attendant with long hair has to be more careful when constructing the beds. I use a professional cleaning service and believe they do their best to give a great experience. Thank you.

Our group loved staying here. The garage was the biggest hit! Loved the close location to Callaway.

Owner's Response: Thank you! We are proud of the garage game room with the pool table and dart board and lots of seating for our getaway guests. My favorite part is how it opens to the backyard patio and garden.

One star for the close proximity to the wineries!

Trying to stay within TRAVELER REVIEW GUIDELINES and to also be of assistance to my fellow travelers regarding this property, poses a bit of a challenge. I will do my best however, while following the format.

No, I do not feel the description of the amenities at this property were accurate. The interior pictures were very flattering, considering the true condition. It was all quite worn and there was not sufficient hot water for our group of 10. We had to shower in shifts.

The owner did not provide good customer service. When called to report a problem for the master bathroom, it went ignored and later she offered only excuses as to why.

No, I would not recommend this property. I would recommend taking photos of everything before and after your stay.

Owner's Response: THIS RATING IS OUT OF LINE compared to my high ratings over the past two years. Why? The guest was unable to accept responsibility for her dog's damage to our sprinkler cable so she choose to write a bad review. I will do my best to give you good information about this bad review. Reviews are important and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to all reviews. I am in the business to impress my guests by having a beautiful place in a great location with excellent customer service. My first objective is to handle any problem without blame or a poor attitude, stick to the process with good communication. I did not receive any support from guest. She accused me of taking a picture of another house to get paid from the insurance? I do not need to spend time collecting for something made up nor would I cheat HomeAway. She had no out of pocket cost due to her insurance. The pictures of the house are good, however i have been told many times that the house is better than the pictures. It really is, as a designer I pride myself on all the quality furnishings, art and luxurious features the home has. I have the best support with professional housekeepers and gardeners. Top quality mattresses are important and so many details are included to give guests a real retreat and getaway experience. The shower handle she reported as not working was handled well. She called and said she wanted me to be aware of it for future guests. I thanked her and had it fixed after she left. I did not know if it was already broken or if it had broke during her stay so I owned it as my responsibility. Our bathrooms are luxurious and have not had any complaints about water supply or quality of shower/tubs until now. The experience the guests receive is extremely important to me. As a seasoned hospitality/customer service professional I strive to give our guests what I would want. I go the extra mile and take pride in the whole vacation home experience. We are always updating and improving the Riverton Retreat. I am fortunate to have quality guests. You are giving me a big compliment when choosing to stay at our vacation retreat. Carpe Diem!
