My recent visit to the Hills was picturesque staying in this cabin. Enjoyed waking up to a winter wonderland with a cup of coffee, loved the view! The cabin was well maintained and obviously well cared for. My wife and I, along with our closest friends are already planning our next stay. I highly recommend this cabin for a quick getaway wit h family and or friends. Thanks for the great weekend :)
A group of college buddies (graduated university in 1981) made a commitment to each other to all gather for a "Big Chill" vacation after all our children were out of the house and on their own. It took 33 years, but we kept our promise and Aly's Getaway was a perfect setting for us. The venue was perfect for three couples. We enjoyed long walks, peace and quite, excursions into Deadwood and surrounding communities. The hot tub was a nice bonus and the privacy was perfect. My wife and I plan to return with our grown children sometime in the future.
I was dismayed to see another guest leave a bad review of this property. I have rented several cabins, vacation homes and apartments in the US and abroad, and this one is a gem! It's not only beautiful; it is evident that the owners care for their property and hope that their guests do the same. We were so impressed with the organization. There are instructions and guidelines displayed, making for a worry-free stay. I have stayed in places where we were unable to make the appliances work--not a fun way to spend your precious vacation time. The owners and managers of this property made sure that all was ready for our visit and we had an amazing time. It was so relaxing to enjoy the hot tub, fire pit and beautiful great room. Our meal prep was easy and the bedrooms were super comfy. Please consider staying at this property next time you are in the region--you won't regret it!
This cabin is very well put together and really beautiful! The 4 bedroom and 4.5 bath set up works really great when vacationing with multiple families or couples. We spent the weekend with another couple relaxing, enjoying the scenery, hiking, gambling in Deadwood, and enjoying the amenities of this home. The hot tub and gas fire pit were greatly enjoyed in the evenings as the weather got cooler. This house was very clean when we arrived and had signs/instructions telling us how to run everything and what we needed to do upon leaving. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone as it is very close to down town Deadwood which has many attractions and gambling. Spearfish and Sturgis are only 10 or so miles away as well. If you are into hiking Crow Peak is just outside of Spearfish and not far from this cabin :). We had no problem finding this cabin and the roads were great to get there!
We stayed in this cabin for 5 nights. Most of the time we were out sight seeing, but spent evenings there, mostly. We were ever-so-careful to adhere to all the rules posted throughout the cabin by the owner. Trash was collected, but never thrown in the bin without a bag around it, we swept the floors, we were diligent about not allowing the children to use the green towels for hot tubbing...We brought in all our own groceries and drinks. The cabin was very comfortable. It wasn't clean when we got there, though. The trash was full, the screen door was off the tracks, the carpet wasn't vacuumed, on of the kids found some kind of medication under the sleeper sofa. None of this kept us from having fun. We greatly enjoyed South Dakota, seeing as many sights as possible. On the morning of our departure, we were like ants, gathering things and putting things away. We were extra sure to follow the rules and directions posted ALL OVER the cabin. We ran a load of towels to help out with the cleaning. We took out trash, checked to make sure the beds were stripped and made sure we'd taken all our food out of the refrigerator/freezer. But we left a wrapper in the trash and a window had been left open. Apparently the bedding for certain beds was to be stripped, but left with the bed. We checked and double checked on how to care for the hot tub when leaving, but all we saw were instructions to put the cover on it when leaving. We had paid a cleaning deposit, but ended up having a large chunk of the deposit held for our "violations". Seriously??? All-in-all, this place is NOT worth all the trouble and cost to stay in it. I honestly feel we were scammed. P.S. There was NO CHICKEN in the freezer. Your cleaning people must have eaten and ran before they cleaned anything!
