About Nick Cripps
I Have lived in Cat Island since 1996 and built this property in 2013.
Why Nick Cripps chose Orange Creek
This is the second house completed on my 50 acre environmental sub-division, where each lot is over one acre, called Hilltop Village. It is a beautiful wooded hill top with panoramic views of the sea, lakes and fertile land. Literally I found my Shangri-La and would like to share it with like minded individuals.

We spent two weeks at Casa Loma and can’t say enough good things about our hosts, Nick and Manette, the property and the island. The house is spacious, clean and has beautiful views. Nick and Manette are very generous with their time and looked after every need we had. Mr. Ed and Lady and the beautiful songbirds added to the ambience. If you are looking for a holiday off the grid and plan to do exploring of the many solitary beaches and learning about the local culture this is the place for you. Enjoy!
A wonderful and peaceful Bahamian Experience on Cat Island!
Let me say that Nick and his wife have a wonderfully unique property and that our vacation was one of the best ever. The large property the house sits on offered us morning walks around the many paths and trails on the property, and due to the elevation there were awesome water views from various points that were a wonderful surprise. The home itself is VERY spacious and easily handled our crew of 5 people. Being solar we had to think about turning off lights and managing our electricity use, but we never felt restrained in any way. the rear deck is shaded in late afternoon and made it an excellent place to relax with a Kalik after a day exploring the beaches nearby. Which bring up the property's best feature, access to a private (private because there is no other way to get there) beach that is long and beautiful and very walkable. The waters off this beach alternate between clear sand and various rocks and dips and makes a great snorkeling area. Cat Island beaches are blessed with a strip of hard sand beside the water that makes walking a pleasure (we did not find beaches like this on previous trips to Long Island and Exuma). Nick gracefully answered all our questions and directed us to some other very special places. The grocery store in Orange Creek is only about 10 minutes away and was well stocked for our needs. Shanna's Cove resort at the bottom of the hill provided a very close by dining/bar experience and two great Local eating spots (Yardies and Kizzies) are about 20-25 minutes from the property. Thank you again Nick for making our stay a very special one! Couple of tips-buy Liquor near the New Bight airport (Nicked picked us up at the airport and stopped for a quick shop for groceries and liquor)-there are no liquor stores on the north end of the island. You can restock at Yardies but prices are higher.
It was great to have such lovely people to stay who showed such interest in this beautiful quiet island
This property was everything and more than we expected to include the owner's hospitality!
This was our second time to the Bahamas, the first Island we visited was Spanish Welles/Russell Island. We decided to try something a little more remote and private and this place included all of this and more. The owners, Nicholas and Manette, from day one, were absolutely fabulous. From picking us up at the airport, stopping for groceries along the way for the beginning of our stay. Borrowing us his car for the first few days until we picked up the rental car. We enjoyed our social visits, from his English background to the island history. He provided many ideas for us to visit and sight see and the private beaches. Not only one, many!! We enjoyed visits from "horse feathers" and lady, "the beach crab digger." Our favorite, however, and thanks so much to Nick, was the snorkeling. This was my first time experiencing and I was hesitant at first. How Nick picked up on that I am not sure, but he showed up on our door step the next day and offered me a hand! I picked it up and I have fallen in love with seeing the amazing, colorful sights, at the bottom of the ocean. Our weather was fantastic. We truly, cannot complain about anything the Top of Da Hill and our hosts had to offer. We will definitely be back Thank you again Nicholas and Manette for making our vacation a true remote, private, relaxing, dream come true!!! You both have a wonderful home! Brad and Jodi
We thoroughly enjoyed having you to stay and more so since you were both into solar living. looking forward to having you to stay again.
Breathtaking site and house.
Nick, Manette and Lady are incredibly welcoming hosts - the views are tremendous, the snorkeling is great, the stars are fantastic and the quiet is absolute.
That is why people come to Cat Island and off the grid.
Great place !
All the family had a great time in this little paradise floating in the Atlantic. The house was perfect for our family of 5, well equipped, clean, a lot of air to breathe on top of the hill with great view! Thanks you Nick for all the information on the island history, trees, birds and the secrete beaches where no one goes! You were of great help for all our needs. Our family will remember for a long time the peacefull Christmas that we shared with you and Manette, thanks so much!

It was our enjoyment in having you and your lovely Family to share our Christmas celebrations, and my pleasure to show you parts of this wonderful island.
Unspoilt by tourism, a quiet haven to relax
Although this was off the beaten track it was a tranquil place to stay in a relatively undiscovered part of Cat Island. We enjoyed the deserted beautiful beaches and the local food and handicrafts. It was perfect for a short stay but would not be suitable for those wishing to be entertained.
Casa Loma has magnificent views of the surrounding land including the ocean, beaches, lakes and woodland. Cat Island provides many tourist pursuits with the Hermitage on Mt.Alvernia, as well as the old Deveaux Mansion, being a must for visitors. The rich history of Cat Island can be found everywhere, and great restaurants, both International and Bahamian have their own entertaining features. The caves of Cat Island are worth visiting, some going underground for miles. There are multiple Blue Holes, and great diving offshore with some fascinating drop offs for the avid diver. Bone fishing is an international sport defined here, and of course one can go deep sea fishing with one of the Locals anytime. Cat Island is a very laid back island where the people are friendly and always ready for a chat with strangers and a good story telling is in their culture. So come and unwind here or exercise to your hearts content. There are good food stores and some shops, but a visit here is more about finding yourself and enjoying miles of hidden beaches without footprints.
