Extraordinary Sandia wilderness boundary residential suite - just 3 miles from Tramway Blvd! A destination in itself, our contemporary retreat offers 1100 sq ft of urban comfort in the heart of high country spectacle. Location is a 15 minute scenic drive up from I-25 in North Albuquerque.

Please note - the last mile of FR 333-D to the Suite property is an unpaved, rocky forest road, so you may want to slow down and enjoy the scenery!

Sandia Suite is a 2-bedroom contemporary open plan walkout apartment with a private entrance patio. The Suite has it all - a great room entertainment area, vista sunroom dining area and high bar, fully equipped chef's galley kitchen, laundry room, a spacious bath, private patio with superlative mountain views and a chiminea fireplace. The Sandia Suite comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. All this in a spectacular up-close Sandia mountain setting with direct access to wilderness trails and city venues.

Suite electronics include WiFi internet, Netflix streaming movies, and 20+ over-the-air TV channels. Guests also have access to resident host Erica's extensive DVD and book lending libraries upon request.

Host also welcomes Suite guests to share sunset and city views from the Reception south deck - upon request.

The Sandia Suite mountain retreat is a short walk to numerous Cibola National Forest trails. The Suite itself is at 7000' elevation on the boundary to the Sandia Wilderness Area in the Cibola NF.

Beautiful place in the Sandia foothills

This was our first VRBO rental. It's the ground floor of a gorgeous home in the foothills of the Sandia mountains, reached by a narrow, winding Forest Service road, the last mile unpaved. The unit is beautifully furnished and the kitchen well equipped, the scenery spectacular. The owner, who lives in the house above, is gracious and cordial, a delight. There are several trails nearby, with ample parking at the trailheads.

I can think of only three drawbacks. First, because it's on the ground floor, with a walk-out to the driveway, the property is a little dark. The owner has compensated for this with strategically placed LED lighting. Second, we found the master bedroom mattress to be a bit soft for our taste. It didn't seem to affect our sleep, however. Finally, the property is located close to 7,000 feet above sea level. Consequently, I would not recommend this unit for someone with pulmonary problems.

Quiet, clean, off the beaten path.

The house was beautiful and well-maintained and clean and quiet! Though it was a bit of a drive off the main road to the house, it was something we got used to quickly and something you don't enjoy in the city. If you like driving, it would be perfect. Staying there can put your mind at ease and fully relax you. The furniture, kitchen, sheets, utensils were top notch. The only regret we have is that we didn't stay longer!! Definitely recommend to family and friends. Already did. We plan on returning for sure.

Beautiful, great mountain location, nice interior, peaceful

Located up a dirt road, in canyon, in a quiet cabin neighborhood, this peaceful upscale basement apartment is a wonderful escape. Erika is a gracious host, and immediately accessible if needed. The view of the imminent mountain is breath taking. The drive to town is a haul, but nothing is far in ABQ. The dirt roads were a bit much for my wife, otherwise this would have been 5.

Wonderful hideaway in the Sandia foothills

This suite is the perfect place if you're looking to get away from the rat race. The patio faces directly into the Sandia range, and the location is tucked back into a canyon such that the hustle and bustle of the city is completely hidden. Perfectly serene. The road in and out was a bit daunting for me the first couple of times but I got used to it (it didn't bother my husband at all), and honestly I enjoyed being in the suite so much that there were several days I didn't feel the need to leave for town. There are several great hikes just off the doorstep, or you can just sit on the patio and watch the wildlife and weather.

The suite is very well appointed and clean. The posted photos are accurate. Overall the suite was very comfortable and lacked for nothing, including the kitchen and laundry room. Erica is an excellent host and excellent company if you have time to join her for sunset views on her balcony.

Can't wait to go back!

Peaceful, perfectly located between ABQ, Santa Fe and Taos.

The photos of the suite were accurate and just as beautiful in person. Our hostess was very welcoming and thoughtful. We spent a lovely evening watching the sunset as we shared good wine and great stories. Everything we needed was provided, and we were very comfortable. The location made it easy to go in any direction to visit the many fabulous art galleries of Taos, the pueblos and tours with well educated guides. The turquoise trail up to Sante Fe was delightful, as were the many wineries. I definitely recommend the Sandia Suites for a great getaway.

We are located in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains at 7000 feet elevation in the far northeast of the Albuquerque metro area, 15 minutes - 7 miles - up from I-25 via Tramway Rd. and FR 333.

Host's Directions:

Take I-25 exit 234 at Tramway Blvd. north, drive East 3.1 miles, turn left turn (north) on Forest Road 333, proceed north for 2 miles on curvy paved road then straight on DIRT road FR 333-D - proceed 1 mile further - past Piedra Lisa parking lot and through community gate - it is not locked - to 'T' at Circle Drive street sign, turn left (South) to second house (69) on your left.

Our immediacy to I-25 makes it a short 30-minute drive to and from the Sunport International Airport - and a very scenic 60 minutes to Santa Fe’s charms.

Fifteen minutes down the forest road from your Suite and another 15 min. freeway drive via I-25/I-40 takes you to the cultural hub of Albuquerque at historic Old Town - including the stunning NM Museum of Natural History and the Alb. Museum of Art and History. The Albuquerque BioPark and Botanic Garden is also found here – along with the acclaimed Alb. Zoo - on the banks of the fabled Rio Grande.

From Old Town, visitors can 'cruise' east on Historic US 66 - now Central Ave - through Albuquerque's vibrant downtown club and gallery scene to the University of New Mexico campus and its many exhibit and entertainment venues!

For lunch, or after, you may want to continue your explorations east up Central into the Nob Hill historic district for Albuquerque's best boutique shopping - and more fine dining and live music possibilities!

For the archaeologically and geologically 'hands-on' adventurers, Albuquerque's 'west side' has some big draws - the Five Sisters volcanoes, the world-class Petroglyph National Monument rock art loop trails - and the informal playground of the BLM sand dunes just north off Nine-Mile Hill...
