About Mike Monley

Our family, which includes my wife our two daughters born in 2000 and 2002 and myself have been going to Grand Lake in all 4 seasons since 2005. We love the area for all it has to offer and the close proximity to Denver. We are less than 2 hours from Denver and have everything including the fresh mountain air, the lakes, snowmobiling, skiing, ATV trails, hiking, fishing and hunting.

Mike Monley purchased this house in 2011

Why Mike Monley chose Rocky Mountain National Park

It's a beautiful house. We all love the layout. The main floor is completely open with the livingroom, kitchen and dining room all wide open to each other and a 1/2 bath on the main floor. There is a gas stove in the living room that looks like a wood burner, it is so cozy in the Fall and Winter, expecially when it's snowing out. All the bedrooms are upstairs and very nicely laid out.

Wonderful and charming cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was a super place to stay for my family and I! The location was peaceful, the kitchen was very functional, the deck and fire pit were a great addition. I would definitely use this home again. The location was right off a road heading to the National forest so we went exploring in that direction one afternoon rather than head to the RMNP. It was just far enough from the town to have privacy yet close to the downtown area of Grand Lake. I wish we could have stayed longer but we were able to come home to a nice place and relax, watch tv, cook and play games. Plenty of room with two full and one half bath. Very nice. Thank you for letting us stay.

This cabin is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on VRBO do Not show how nice this house is! The house is very cozy and decorated beautifully with all the comforts of home in the mountains and close to Grand Lake. the house was perfect for our family. Check in directions were simple, the owners, Mike and Erin, explained everything we needed and were helpful with suggestions. The house was extremely clean and well furnished. the layout of this home is perfect with three bedrooms and two baths upstairs. We used all three bedrooms and the beds were very comfortable. We all loved the fireplace in the living room while we gathered at the end of the day. The open kitchen, dining and living room made the main floor perfect to cook and converse with everyone. Cooking was easy with the fully stocked kitchen. The cabin is perfect in every way! From initial contact to the details sent prior to our arrival our family had a great stay! We hope to be back again soon.

Magnificent Cottage for Our Family Trip

  • 5 of 5

Four of us - our kids are in their 20s - and our 2 dogs stayed in early October and found everything about it to be perfect. The home is nicely furnished with high quality things, the kitchen is perfectly outfitted for cooking meals, everything is in great working order, and the place is warm and inviting. The owners have a set of rules for vacating the property which are reasonable and contribute to the quality of the cottage and the experience. Really appreciated the contact from them before arrival and everything about the place. Will definitely stay here again! some other reviews are prickly about little things, we offer you this: we knew going in that it was closer to Lake Granby than the town of Grand Lake (which is 5-10 min drive away) we knew it was off the lake (but walkable), that there were other homes/cabins adjacent (including a neighbor whose large lot is filled with lots of junky things), that the property is unfenced and that the road was just behind it. NONE of those things take away from all that's right with this property and none of them are a secret witheld by the owners. This place is everything the photos show and all that it is described. Thanks to them for sharing their place for a great weekend.

This was a very enjoyable just like home rental. It was very clean, everything was just like advertised. I would recommend this to all of my family and friends. Other family members who stayed at a lodge came to visit and all of them wished they were staying with us. Great location.

Nice place if you stay inside

  • 3 of 5

Very spacious, comfortable living room and kitchen. Bedrooms were nice, beds are comfortable. The back patio area is small and close to a main busy road with traffic noise - it could use some landscaping/fence/flowers -something. There is a house across the street that has a front yard completely covered in junk which detracts from the ambience of the area. So if you want to relax outside there really isn't a good view. I have stayed in many VRBO homes and have never experienced the list of rules of what to do when you leave (it was initially a turn-off), but it only took 10 minutes or so to follow the instructions. We did not cook in the house, but the kitchen looked nicely stocked with necessary equipment. Bring shower supplies - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel.

Owner's Response: Hello, we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We have been renting this house for 5 years and have never heard negative feedback about the yard. The back of the house is filled with trees which block much of the noise and the front of the house looks directly at the road. There is a nice porch in the front and a deck in the back. Landscaping in Grand Lake is very challenging and very few homes are professionally landscaped.

Dog friendly

  • 5 of 5

My sister, my daughter, our three dogs and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. It felt comfortable and plenty of open space in the house for our small dog and two larger dogs. The owner was very available for questions and very pleasant.
