This property was purchased the year I was born and even though I moved to Arizona 40+ years ago...I always return to Wal_Mar for summer.
John Marshall purchased this cottage in 1943
This is one of the most unique properties on Mullett Lake. Seventeen acres of forest with a large area of mature Hemlock trees, a deciduous forest of birch, maple, aspen are right across Waller Creek...which has Brook Trout. Being located in the center of the Bay...the beach is all sugar sand with a very gentle dropoff. Amenities are provided for your enjoyment including a firepit, dock, kayaks, canoe, etc.
"If we weren't building our own place on Mullett Lake, we would stay here every year."
We (8 of us) had a great time at John and Marsha's property. The house was exactly as advertised on the site. Our girls had a great time playing in the creek that runs next to the house. We grilled on one of the two outdoor grills nightly, and even got to pick some fresh herbs from Marsha's garden for a couple of meals. The sunsets are amazing to see from the beach. We brought our boat and enjoyed it everyday. The water is crystal clear with a nice sandy bottom that adds to the fun. We did enjoy the new fire pit that John had recently installed on a couple of occasions. I would have no reservations about recommending this property to any family or friends as I am sure they would enjoy it as much as we did.
The first thing I must mention is that the cabin is immaculate and the property is breathtaking. That being said, what you can't see in the photos is the owners house less than 50 feet away. The fire ring is on his part of the property and unless the air is completely still (and keep in mind you are on a lake) there are no fires allowed. Also the boat dock mentioned cannot be used as it is full of the owners boats and jet skis. You can however use the mooring that is 100 yards out (if you don't mind swimming to and from your boat every time you use it). You almost feel as if you are under surveillance, as the owner will pop in unexpectedly and at will throughout your week. Again the cabin and its furnishings are top notch, but if you are after even a little bit of privacy beware. Also, he kept 20% of our deposit because of a water stain on a old wooden trunk allegedly left by a wet bathing suit. Really?? We love Mullett Lake and its surroundings and plan on returning...... Just not here!
