This 'garden level' apartment is a half flight down to enter from either 4th Street or alleyway. Upper floors are still under restoration.
I believe in preservation. This building housed law practices for over 100 years. When the last lawyer left, the building sat vacant... Waiting for adaptive reuse. This apartment is the first of three levels to be renovated.
Growing up in Keokuk, I couldn't have imagined that such an gem was hidden in what appeared to be an abandon building. Don't judge a book by its cover as they say. Cozy and stylish, I recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Keokuk.
My husband & I thought that the apartment was very neat. It is located in a brick building that is over 100 years old. Owner did a fantastic job rehabbing this area into a cute studio apartment. A great place to rent for just a couple of days.
Renters do need to be aware that there is not any cable TV service. A DVD player & movies are there to watch which was enough entertainment for us because we did not spend that much time during the day there and a brief period in the evening.
Overall it was clean but the floors could be have been swept & mopped a bit more thoroughly. One other item that could be improved upon is a MUCH firmer mattress and better pillows for the bed.
The apartment was as advertised - rustic with modern touches. For the price, you are not going to find a better place to stay in Keokuk. I would definitely book this location again.
This place is very big and very nice! It has a wonderful urban feel that is quite relaxing. The parking is on the street but literally steps from the door. Very pleased with my stay!
Loved the atmosphere of this apartment. Loved how they stayed true to the time with the decorations. Cute sitting areas and an all around nice place to stay. If we came back to the area we would for sure try to book again. Thanks so much. The Seamons
It was a beautiful little apartment!! The owner even had items in the pantry and re-fridge for us. She said she had an air mattress for us to use, but I was shocked to arrive and find a queen size high air mattress all made up. It even had controls to raise the head and feet! I saw the comments about the tv, but it is actually a big screen tv, the furniture was so fantastic I took pictures of several pieces I want to purchase for my own home. It was really a great stay, loved every second of it!! We took our dogs for a walk and the police would go by in the police cars and say hi to us like we were friends. It was a friendly neighborhood, and a gorgeous spot only a couple blocks from the river/dam
