Scott is originally from Chicago, Carolyn is from the Adirondacks in NY.
We have lived in NJ for many years and worked in the NYC, NJ, Philadelphia area.
Scott Doyle purchased this house in 1998
Scott came to Charleston 30+ years ago as a Navy submarine crewman and we have been coming to Charleston and Seabrook Island ever since. Four generations of our family have vacationed here.
Our area of the island is close to everything. Low traffic and private.
The large 2nd bedroom is like an apartment with 4 beds and its own bathroom.

Our family loves Seabrook and we look forward to our annual trip. This year we rented this property. The rooms were spread out giving privacy for each couple/family and the common areas were large, giving the children places to roam and play while we hung out, when we weren't at the beach.
Renting and staying was so easy. I highly recommend it!
Our family vacation was so delightfully pleasant that everyone (5 kids and grandpa included) didn't want to leave and already wish to go back! The island itself is beautiful with so much to discover and explore that we were never bored! The house was very well-equipped, comfortable, and exactly as described! We hope to return and would not hesitate to rent this home again.
Large, comfortable home with plenty of room for all eight adults to spread out. Very well furnished and decorated with anything you could need or want for the kitchen. Enjoyable bike rides to the beach, and secluded deck in a tranquil setting with views of wildlife. Really enjoyed our stay here and we plan on going back. Excellent, very responsive owners and management.
My husband and I booked this property for a week. What a gorgeous house. It was clean and had everything that we needed! Lynn, the property manager, was at the house when we arrived. She got us acclimated to the property and made sure that we had her card in case we needed anything. The owners also checked in to make sure that everything was going alright. We were having such a relaxing good time that we asked if we could extend our stay. They were very accomadating. The golf courses are in great shape!! The gym offers a variety of equipment. We were close to Charlestonwhich we visited. However, the local restraunts(Fischers, Reds Icehouse and Chez Fish) offer good food and friendly service. Don't worry about picking up brochures of things to do as they have a bunch here for you. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. Thank you for allowing us to stay here! What a great relaxing time we had here!!
Vacationing with a small child seemed like a daunting task until we arrived and took a look around. The house truly felt like a home away from home, everything we wanted was provided.
Setting up the rental with the homeowner, Scott, was easy. He was responsive and helpful with any questions we had.
When we arrived the home was prepped for our arrival. Fresh towels were folded at the foot of every bed.
The kitchen was well appointed. Breakfast and some quick dinners were a breeze to prepare. With plenty of counter space and all the tools provided we weren't left wanting for anything.
The garage is filled with everything you could want for a day of outdoor activities. With its close proximity to the beach and the island's high level of bicycle awareness we rode to the beach. In the garage are 2 bikes and all the beach amenities one could need. The scenic ride, on tree lined streets, was in itself a fun activity. Our daughter loved the occasional wildlife sighting.
The island's amenities houses allow you to travel lightly. Chairs, towels, and food can all be had while you're out for the day.
Returning home we were glad to be in a home large enough to keep our daughter away from the noise of preparing a meal or the action of a late night movie. The Google Chromecast made watching a nighttime movie a breeze. The internet connection was fast and the instructions included in the house made connecting to the Chromecast a breeze.
We will definitely be back. Seabrook Island is a special place and staying at the Cardinal is the way we'd like to experience it again.
I should have asked more questions!! Unlike other homes we've rented through VRBO, I had to keep contacting the owner to get information about location, entry instructions, etc. He kept saying his property manager would send a welcome email, but she never did. Then, when we did arrive at the housing area gate, he had neglected to tell security that we were coming. We had to keep calling and texting him to call security, which he finally did, and we were finally allowed through after about a 20 minute wait. The home might be ok for one couple with a lot of children. It was not good for 3 couples. One of the "bedrooms" is up a narrow metal spiral staircase to a converted attic with no windows. No way you could get a suitcase up there. It seemed like a fire trap to us. We are 3 retired couples, and though we are not invalids, no one was interested in navigating that metal stairwell at night to get to the distant 3rd bathroom. The linens seemed clean, but no amenities such as even a bar of soap or waste can in bathroom was provided. There were several dead roaches on the floor (maybe they'd just sprayed) and the home smelled mildewy. It was late and though we really didn't want to, we stayed one night, calling the owner to tell him we'd be gone the next day. He said he was disappointed we didn't like the home, but, to our pleasant surprise, did graciously offer to refund a portion of our payment. However, we never did receive a refund, and he no longer responds to my emails, so doubt that we ever will. Be wary of this rental if you truly need 3 bedrooms, as the one is not acceptable to adults, and I wouldn't let children sleep up there either, since it has no real means to escape in an emergency.
