Boston House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-14)

Exceptional 3800sf Boston Brownstone (sleeps 8 - 14) located in the charming Symphony Hall area of Boston, which is adjacent to the highly desirable Back Bay neighborhood.

This charming brownstone features various sleeping configurations for large groups on multiple floors, recently updated kitchens and baths, a lower level area perfect for seniors or an au pair/nanny, rare parking (one covered space attached and two nearby surface parking spaces), nearby parks, shopping and restaurants galore. This is a perfect residence for a large multi-generational family vacation, relatives attending a Boston wedding, a ladies trip to Boston, a guy’s trip to Fenway, or for a key birthday, anniversary or College graduation celebration. It beats the heck out of staying in the expensive hotels of the Boston-area.

Located at 8 Symphony Road, the residence is located 2 blocks away from the MBTA Green Line E's Symphony Stop at Huntington Ave. Also, numerous Colleges (i.e. Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, Northeastern University, New England Conservatory of Music, etc.), Museums (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Museum of Fine Arts) and other attractions are within walking distance or a very short taxi ride, including The Christian Science Mother Church, Duck Tours, Hop On/Off Bus, Historic Fenway Park, The Prudential Center, Hynes Convention Center and famed-Newbury Street and Bolyston Street's Premier Shopping and Restaurant areas.

Lower Level – (sleeps 2) Rear entry from parking area with One Bedroom (King), Full Bath, Laundry and Fitness Room – Perfect for Seniors, Au Pair or Nanny.

Parlor Level - First Floor (sleeps 0-2) – Front Entry Foyer, Full Kitchen, Large Living/Dining Room Grand Parlor Area with Queen Sofa Sleeper.

Second Floor (sleeps 2-4) – Master Bedroom (King), Full Bath, Family Room with Queen Sofa Sleeper and Library.

Third Floor (sleeps 4-6) – Bedroom #3 (Two Twin Beds, which can be made into a King on request), Smaller Bedroom #4 with Day/Trundle Bed and a separate Loft Area with Queen Sofa Sleeper, Full Bath

PARKING: In addition to the One-Car Carport behind our home, we also own two Parking Spaces in a Nearby Surface Lot, which are available at no additional charge.

WARNING: This property is available exclusively through VRBO and HomeAway and their affiliates. Beware of fraudulent listings on Craig's List using some of our home's photos and descriptions, but maybe using a slightly different address or even the same address. We do not advertise on Craig's List.

NOTE: 1% of revenues are donated by us in memory of Moreland Grace Stenstrom for the charitable works of The Peapod Project in Chicago, IL, which benefits Childrens Memorial Hospital - we thank you.

NOTE: After owning and operating this property since 2011, we sold this property to an Investor in November 2015 and agreed to lease it back from the Investor until October 2017 to continue honoring our commitments to short-term vacationers and continue creating memories for our guests. So, if you have ever wanted to visit Boston, you only have until October 2017 to experience this amazing brownstone!

About Tim Hyland

We love to travel as empty nesters. Our son attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston - so this location was a perfect fit for us! However, our son relocated to Austin, Texas in September 2015, so we no longer felt we would be traveling to Boston as much. So, although we sold this beautiful property to an Investor in November 2015, we leased it back from the Investor through October 2017 to continue creating memories for our guests! And, for our continued use as well!

Tim Hyland purchased this house in 2011

Why Tim Hyland chose Boston

With my parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, there was no single location in Boston in 2011 that could accomodate our entire group of 14. Plus, we love, love, love Boston!

What makes this house unique

Boston is known as a walking city and our location is perfect for walkers. Symphony Hall, Christian Science Mother Church, Fenway Park, Prudential Center and famed-Newbury Street and Boylston Street are all easy walks from our location. We also like to work-out, so we added a fairly extensive fitness room for those who like to try to stay in shape while traveling (even during Boston's winter).

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited with our grown children and several cousins. It is everything shown in the pictures and more. Everything needed for comfortable living was there with a fully stocked kitchen. We utilized the dining table for a huge family dinner. The LR was so comfortable as we listened to music and played a game - included in the library cabinets! The house is convenient to everything, so very clean and sunshine streams through each floor. Had a great time and hope to return. Thanks Tim and Natalie.

Beautiful, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect house for our family celebration which included 9 adults. The house was spotless, beds were super comfortable with beautiful linens. We loved the spacious kitchen with the beautiful granite island which was a favorite gathering spot. The great room on the second floor provided ample room for watching the Patriots play off game. The location in Boston was ideal for walking with easy access to transportation, restaurants and entertainment. A big bonus for this neighborhood was having off street parking. We recommend this property highly with no reservations.

Return Visit for Family Wedding

  • 5 of 5

This house is a gem! When our daughter set her wedding date, I knew I wanted to bring the rest of our family to 8 Symphony where I’d stayed previously with a group of female friends. This time it was another group of 7, but with three generations.

The house is as described with accompanying photos. The spacious kitchen was the favorite gathering spot for several reasons—growing teenagers who were often hungry for one. Having Whole Foods right around the block was very welcome. Early November was mild so we were able to take advantage of the outside space for a couple of days.

We all bought “T” passes and used the very convenient Symphony T stop, but we also walked to Back Bay attractions. Some favorites: The Boston Public Library, Trinity Church’s Friday organ recital, Burdick’s chocolate shop, the Green Dragon around the corner from the Old Union Oyster House and the Ryles Jazz Club, Cambridge.

I’ve already stayed here twice and would certainly do it yet again. Tim is very responsive.

Great home in a wonderful city

  • 5 of 5

Some high school friends and I recently stayed in this wonderful house. It was convenient to all points of interest in the city. Seven of us stayed in this house and were very comfortable. Private bedroom and bath facilities were exceedingly comfortable. Everything was extremely well maintained. I appreciated the cleanliness of the house. While we did not use the washer and dryer, it was good to know that they were there if needed. The fully stocked kitchen was a bonus. With all the wonderful restaurants nearby we did not cook, other than quick preparations for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

As Beautiful As the Photos

  • 5 of 5

All of my guests loved this house. We were able to eat breakfast together at the kitchen bar, and eat a more formal brunch at the dining room table. Everyone felt like their space was comfortable and cozy. The neighborhood is near may attractions and we all walked to a Duck Tour outside of the Prudential.

The best thing is that the photos on the website are exactly what the house looks like in real life. Clean, well done, very spacious, beautiful neighborhood and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here, and Tim Hyland has been a pleasure to work with, the directions were very clear on how to get into the house and how to use things in the house. We truly had the best weekend!

ACEP Conference Group

  • 5 of 5

A group including myself and a few other resident physicians stayed in this house for a conference. The house fit all 13 of us comfortably. Tim was very accommodating and responds quickly to all emails. The location is in town and convenient access to subway and surrounding venues. I would definitely stay here again.
