House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-14)

Exceptional 3800sf Boston Brownstone (sleeps 8 - 14) located in the charming Symphony Hall area of Boston, which is adjacent to the highly desirable Back Bay neighborhood.

This charming brownstone features various sleeping configurations for large groups on multiple floors, recently updated kitchens and baths, a lower level area perfect for seniors or an au pair/nanny, rare parking (one covered space attached and two nearby surface parking spaces), nearby parks, shopping and restaurants galore. This is a perfect residence for a large multi-generational family vacation, relatives attending a Boston wedding, a ladies trip to Boston, a guy’s trip to Fenway, or for a key birthday, anniversary or College graduation celebration. It beats the heck out of staying in the expensive hotels of the Boston-area.

Located at 8 Symphony Road, the residence is located 2 blocks away from the MBTA Green Line E's Symphony Stop at Huntington Ave. Also, numerous Colleges (i.e. Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, Northeastern University, New England Conservatory of Music, etc.), Museums (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Museum of Fine Arts) and other attractions are within walking distance or a very short taxi ride, including The Christian Science Mother Church, Duck Tours, Hop On/Off Bus, Historic Fenway Park, The Prudential Center, Hynes Convention Center and famed-Newbury Street and Bolyston Street's Premier Shopping and Restaurant areas.

Lower Level – (sleeps 2) Rear entry from parking area with One Bedroom (King), Full Bath, Laundry and Fitness Room – Perfect for Seniors, Au Pair or Nanny.

Parlor Level - First Floor (sleeps 0-2) – Front Entry Foyer, Full Kitchen, Large Living/Dining Room Grand Parlor Area with Queen Sofa Sleeper.

Second Floor (sleeps 2-4) – Master Bedroom (King), Full Bath, Family Room with Queen Sofa Sleeper and Library.

Third Floor (sleeps 4-6) – Bedroom #3 (Two Twin Beds, which can be made into a King on request), Smaller Bedroom #4 with Day/Trundle Bed and a separate Loft Area with Queen Sofa Sleeper, Full Bath

PARKING: In addition to the One-Car Carport behind our home, we also own two Parking Spaces in a Nearby Surface Lot, which are available at no additional charge.

WARNING: This property is available exclusively through VRBO and HomeAway and their affiliates. Beware of fraudulent listings on Craig's List using some of our home's photos and descriptions, but maybe using a slightly different address or even the same address. NOTE: After owning and operating this property since 2011, we sold this property to an Investor in November 2015 and agreed to lease it back from the Investor until October 2017 to continue honoring our commitments to short-term vacationers and continue creating memories for our guests. About Tim Hyland

We love to travel as empty nesters. Our son attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston - so this location was a perfect fit for us! However, our son relocated to Austin, Texas in September 2015, so we no longer felt we would be traveling to Boston as much. So, although we sold this beautiful property to an Investor in November 2015, we leased it back from the Investor through October 2017 to continue creating memories for our guests! And, for our continued use as well!

Tim Hyland purchased this house in 2011

Why Tim Hyland chose Boston

With my parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, there was no single location in Boston in 2011 that could accomodate our entire group of 14. Plus, we love, love, love Boston!

What makes this house unique

Boston is known as a walking city and our location is perfect for walkers. Symphony Hall, Christian Science Mother Church, Fenway Park, Prudential Center and famed-Newbury Street and Boylston Street are all easy walks from our location. We also like to work-out, so we added a fairly extensive fitness room for those who like to try to stay in shape while traveling (even during Boston's winter).

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited with our grown children and several cousins. It is everything shown in the pictures and more. Everything needed for comfortable living was there with a fully stocked kitchen. We utilized the dining table for a huge family dinner. The LR was so comfortable as we listened to music and played a game - included in the library cabinets! The house is convenient to everything, so very clean and sunshine streams through each floor. Had a great time and hope to return. Thanks Tim and Natalie.

Couldn't be better!

  • 5 of 5

The owner Tim was fantastic to work with from start to finish--so responsive, friendly, and helpful with info. Our family of 7 (3 married couples and our 2 yr old grandchild) thoroughly enjoyed the unique experience of staying in a 4 story brownstone as we toured Boston. The home is beautifully appointed and the Hylands have thought of everything to make one's stay comfortable. I really appreciated how they provided so many household items (paper goods, Ziploc bags, Saran wrap, soaps and detergents, sugar/sweetener packets, etc.) that I have had to buy in previous VRBO rentals even to use a small amount for a week. Besides the amazing home, the location can't be beat! Easy walk to the Green Line and Orange Line on the T which we used a lot with our weekly passes. Loved having the Whole Foods Grocery around the corner. We especially enjoyed the well-outfitted kitchen and the outdoor deck on the 2nd level which we used daily given the great summer weather during our visit. I have already recommended this place to our traveling friends and look forward to renting their newer Chicago brownstone sometime.

Beautiful Rental

  • 5 of 5

We used the home for a full family vacation with 14 family members ranging in age fro 75 to 11 months. Accommodated everybody comfortably. Location was excellent. We had 3 cars and used all the parking, but because of the great location, used them only for side trips out of Boston proper. Great time enjoyed by everyone, even the 11 month old. Highly recommend!!

Couldn't be better!

Our entire experience working with Tim and enjoying a week at their amazing brownstone location was terrific! Tim is so responsive, friendly, and easy to coordinate with. The home just couldn't be better! Tim and Natalie have literally thought of everything to make one's stay comfortable. We had our family of 7 (3 married couples and our 2 yr old granddaughter) gather here for a week from 3 states to enjoy each other and see Boston. Besides the incredible accommodations and the unique experience of staying in a 4 story brownstone, the location itself is hard to beat! Easy walking distance to both the Green Line and the Orange Line on the T which we used a lot. Having Whole Foods around the corner was fantastic too. I really appreciated is how the Hylands provide so many basic items in the house (laundry & dish detergents, soaps, Ziploc bags, Saran wrap, sugar/sweetener packets, paper towels, etc) so we didn't have to purchase a bunch of household items to use small amounts for a week which I have had to do at other VRBO rentals. Two other major pluses are the well-outfitted kitchen and the delightful patio on the 2nd level off the kitchen that we enjoyed a lot given the great weather we had in July. I can't wait to rent their Chicago brownstone sometime when we have a larger group traveling!

Boston at its best

  • 5 of 5

From four different states, we joined each other to celebrate our little sister's, daughter's and God daughter's MIT graduation. What a special time we had grilling on the back porch, toasting in the large dining room, and hugging hello and goodbye in the welcoming foyer. Thank you for a magical days in Boston. Go MIT Beavers. Thank you so much Natalie and Tim for helping create a perfect experience. Your home is everything you said and more. You thought of the small details like extra umbrellas, ice chest, gym ... PERFECT! Having seating and place settings for 11 at the same table made for laughter, memories and family.

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

Tim ( the owner) was great to deal with and was very helpful and responsive from the start of the process through checkout. The house itself is beautiful and comes with three parking spaces (a premium in Back Bay). It is in the heart of Back Bay/Northeastern neighborhood and is a short walk to downtown. Would definitely rent again.
