About Tim Hyland

We love to travel as empty nesters. Our son attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston - so this location was a perfect fit for us! However, our son relocated to Austin, Texas in September 2015, so we no longer felt we would be traveling to Boston as much. So, although we sold this beautiful property to an Investor in November 2015, we leased it back from the Investor through October 2017 to continue creating memories for our guests! And, for our continued use as well!

Tim Hyland purchased this house in 2011

Why Tim Hyland chose Boston

With my parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, there was no single location in Boston in 2011 that could accomodate our entire group of 14. Plus, we love, love, love Boston!

What makes this house unique

Boston is known as a walking city and our location is perfect for walkers. Symphony Hall, Christian Science Mother Church, Fenway Park, Prudential Center and famed-Newbury Street and Boylston Street are all easy walks from our location. We also like to work-out, so we added a fairly extensive fitness room for those who like to try to stay in shape while traveling (even during Boston's winter).

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited with our grown children and several cousins. It is everything shown in the pictures and more. Everything needed for comfortable living was there with a fully stocked kitchen. We utilized the dining table for a huge family dinner. The LR was so comfortable as we listened to music and played a game - included in the library cabinets! The house is convenient to everything, so very clean and sunshine streams through each floor. Had a great time and hope to return. Thanks Tim and Natalie.

A great place in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

What a terrific place for a family reunion! The roof deck is killer...we had so many great conversations there. Everything works and the owners and caretaker are totally dependable. We had gorgeous days in a beautiful neighborhood, in a great location. The only suggestion we could come up with is to post a warning on how narrow the parking space is under the roof deck. A micro issue. We highly recommend 8 Symphony Road for literally any occasion!

Don't Miss Your Chance to Stay Here-Perfect Property - Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

A group of 5 of us from New Orleans just completed a fantastic 6 night stay at 8 Symphony. The property exceeded our every expectation and Tim has this operation down like clockwork. It was a seamless stay; close to the T; beautiful neighborhood. Then, there is the house itself! Very clean, and we could not get over how nice everything was...good or bad weather, doesn't matter, you have plenty of entertaining areas. The back sitting area was absolutely perfect for our crew and as much as we love going out, nothing beats cocktails outside in beautiful weather. Raining or Snow? Not a problem, large entertaining and seating area on the second floor as well. It is clear these owners know and appreciate quality in every amenity in this this one while it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks Tim!

The way it should be....

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at 8 Symphony Road last week and found the home and it's owner incredible! The owner was incredibly responsive and the home was better than advertised. The location is perfect because it's on a quiet street yet one block away from the T (Boston's subway system) and some very popular dining and shopping. You can walk to most everything. The home offers great beds with top-of-the-line bedding, a fantastic master bath and shower with rain forest shower head, large guest bedrooms on each floor for privacy and a deck that is to die for... it's a great place for morning coffee and/or afternoon cocktails! We did not have a car but there is ample parking options. The high definition TVs and easy-to-operate remotes are great for watching your favorite shows. I've stayed at many VRBO properties and this one is the best by far! If you're going to Beantown stay at 8 Symphony Road! Thank you....

Beautiful home and a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five adults and a toddler loved our stay on Symphony Road. This home is beautifully designed and kept and has everything one could wish for. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out and great spaces to hang out together too. We all loved the outdoor patio, especially our little one! The location could not be better, a very short walk to the subway system, which got us to everywhere we wanted to go. Also a short walk to the grocery store and local food establishments. Our hosts were easy to work with (even when I had stupid questions about one of the many, many TV's -- my advice read the house book first ;-) I would highly recommend a stay at 8 Symphony Road!

Fantastic House

  • 5 of 5

12 of us rented this property for a weekend getaway in Boston. The house is fantastic and easily held all 12 of us (all adults). The area was fantastic, and only a 10 minute or so walk to Fenway Park. Everything else was a quick Uber/taxi ride away, so we didn't need any vehicles while we were there. The owner Tim was very easy to work with and very responsive. Everything was set up perfectly and just as he described. Really can't say enough nice things about the property and our experience.

Location, Location, Location

This Brownstone was a perfect location for our family of 10 adults. It is very convenient to the "T" Line Subway, which takes you wherever you want to go, including the airport. We were there for 7 days and never needed a car or taxi. We went to a Red Sox game while we were there, which was within walking distance. The house was in a very safe area with a lot of college students around (Northeastern University is nearby). The air-conditioning worked great with thermostats on all 4 floors. The kitchen was spacious and the dining room accommodated all of us. All of the bedrooms and living areas were as presented; if anything, we thought the house was much better than we were expecting from the pictures. Plenty of room. The washer/dryer were a big help in the basement. The only negatives: the grill on the porch was very small (not big enough to grill for our group) and not in good shape and we had chosen the king bedroom option upstairs but the beds were not converted. They were still separate twin beds. We arrived at 4 PM but the cleaning service was still in the house till almost 5 PM, which was not a big problem since we had not made any plans that night. The cleaning service was very professional and very nice. I suspect they got off to a late start. Overall, it was a great experience.

Owner's Response: Chris: Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, the City of Boston only allows Electric BBQ Grills on wooden decks for fire safety and our grill meets their code - but it is rather small because of the City ordinance. Our housekeeper obviously dropped the ball on its cleanliness because I stayed their recently and spent a couple hours cleaning it myself. Also, she apparently got a late start cleaning up after the prior group, which checked out that same morning and, most likely in the interest of time, neglected to change the flexible bedroom from TWINS to a KING BED per your request. We apologize that we didn't meet your expectations sufficient to earn a 5-star rating and our own high standards. Tim and Natalie
