About Jon Julien

We live and work in Denver, but have spent a lot of time in Grand Lake. We fell in love with the area 20 years ago. After renting cabins every Christmas for the last 12 years, we decided we should buy our own place to share.

Jon Julien purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Jon Julien chose Rocky Mountain National Park

We are mid century design fans and the 'A' frame really appealed to us. We had a lot of fun picking 'rustic modern' pieces to decorate with and use some of the pieces we owned, such as the Herman Miller table. We also like the fact that there is no neighbor to the south and we are at the end of the street with no outlet. It's very peaceful and quiet here. We love the bright southern and eastern exposure that fills the house with light.

What makes this cabin unique

The best thing about our cabin is the location. We have vacationed for years in the area and always visit the Snow Mountain Nordic Center over Christmas vacation. It's an easy drive there, it's family friendly, and there are lots of things to do. There is also a small cross country track right in the neighborhood that we just discovered last year. Grand Lake is a charming mountain town to visit year round. The people are so friendly and helpful. The summer is bustling and the winter is quiet and beautiful.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect getaway for our family. Short walk to beautiful Columbine Lake, where we saw (2) moose the first night from about 100 feet away, then saw another the next morning. It's like something out of a Normal Rockwell scene. Can't wait to come back!

Family visiting from Philadelphia were able to experience Colorado while my husband and I fell in love with Grand Lake!

The cabin was the perfect location, size, and perfectly furnished. The owners are amazing and have though of everything possible!

Incredible place

  • 5 of 5

We loved our experience in the A frame house. On our drive into the house we saw a moose on the side of the road; and saw two additional moose the next day in the ravine near their street. The owner was responsive and detailed, and the location was wonderful. Incredible quiet and peaceful area with a kind community. THe house itself has beautiful light, quite a bit of space, and is very relaxing. Beautifully decorated without being so fragile or fancy that I worried about our two preschool children playing in the house. The kids already want to come back and we are eager too!
