Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps

This lovely home is located in a quiet corner of the northern Berkshires. It is located just over a mile from beautiful Tannery Falls in the Savoy State forest. It is a good home base from which to do area hiking as well as day trips to area attractions in the Berkshires.

The house has a large combined living room and fully-equipped kitchen with cathedral ceilings. Both bedrooms look out on the woods - one with a queen bed and one with a double bed. The bedroom with the double bed has a screened in porch. The spacious bathroom has a stand-up shower and 2-person jacuzzi tub.

There is a hiking trail and wetlands in the woods behind the house. The house is also located across from Starseed Healing Sanctuary and Holistic Retreat Center, which has a number of trails and interesting spots to visit such as a peace labyrinth.

Please note that the unit rented is the upper level of the building. There is also a separate apartment on the lower level that is sometimes occupied by our caretakers in the summer time.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great stay at the Retreat in the Woods. It was the perfect spot for disconnecting, very quiet and peaceful. We loved spending time on the screened in porch. Were surprised to see the enormous lightning bugs come out after a storm went through. Love the big windows in the main room, they make for great natural light. The house is fairly remotely located, but there are many easy day trips. We enjoyed Historic Deerfield, Mount Sugarloaf, and Shelburne Falls. A wonderful stay.

Sweet little house with great light and tons of places to explore

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The kids loved exploring the woods, running around in the yard and drawing in the light-filled kitchen/dining room. I only wish we'd brought a soccer ball ( the big, protected yard was perfect to kick a ball around in) and that we'd had more time to explore the meditation center across the street. We would have made use of more kitchen supplies (sharp knives/pots and pans) but otherwise a peaceful, memorable weekend. Thank you!!

Wonderful solitude

  • 5 of 5

The place was everything we could have imagined. It was nice to enjoy the quiet of the location. We would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get away from the city and the noise.

Incredible property

  • 4 of 5

Everyone is right, the pictures really do not do it justice. The house is absolutely beautiful and nicely hidden from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was a perfect little retreat and has some great trails. I went during February, so there was quite a bit of snow, but the roads are pretty well cleared and the wood stove does wonders to generate warmth!

My only hesitation for not giving this property 5/5 stars is the bed comfort. I have a tendency to toss and turn frequently and the bed springs were really loud, making it difficult to fall asleep. If you are a heavy sleeper, then no problem! Either way, really worth a book, I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.

Cozy and delightful

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful winter getaway here. It was clean, cozy, and very comfy. The wood stove kept us toasty, and we love being able to take winter walks in the woods. Everything was well prepared for us. A great way to spend our winter break with the kids.

The cabin is located in a rural area, however, there's lots to do! Outdoor activities like hiking and snowshoeing are just outside the door. The property is right on the edge of Savoy State Park, which offers varied terrains and sights. You can see old cemeteries, a fire tower, waterfalls and of course, plenty of wildlife!
