This lovely home is located in a quiet corner of the northern Berkshires. It is located just over a mile from beautiful Tannery Falls in the Savoy State forest. It is a good home base from which to do area hiking as well as day trips to area attractions in the Berkshires.
The house has a large combined living room and fully-equipped kitchen with cathedral ceilings. Both bedrooms look out on the woods - one with a queen bed and one with a double bed. The bedroom with the double bed has a screened in porch. The spacious bathroom has a stand-up shower and 2-person jacuzzi tub.
There is a hiking trail and wetlands in the woods behind the house. The house is also located across from Starseed Healing Sanctuary and Holistic Retreat Center, which has a number of trails and interesting spots to visit such as a peace labyrinth.
Please note that the unit rented is the upper level of the building. There is also a separate apartment on the lower level that is sometimes occupied by our caretakers in the summer time.

More than just a house! The hiking on the property is outstanding
We really enjoyed our experience. Not only was the property wonderful but the owners provided excellent information describing the property and area. Highly recommend staying here if you want to get away and ACTUALLY relax!
Our only "negative" experience was finding the road to Tannery Falls blocked. We visited in the winter so it makes sense but they are described as year round sites. The road had been plowed in and there was a sign saying no parking. That said, this had nothing to do with the property we rented so we gave 5 stars without question :)
Advice to future renters: Bring groceries (including spices & oils), paper towels and extra bath towels
Carming, peaceful, romantic !! Olivia F.
My boyfriend Brendan and I stayed at this beautiful “retreat in the woods” for 3 nights. It was very cold during our stay. The cabin was cozy and warm for our arrival. Our trip was relaxing. We felt right at home from the second we walked in. The property is gorgeous! The home is clean! We loved the binder with the history of the house and it also answers every question you could have about the area and the property. We enjoyed every second of our trip! Thank you from Brendan and Olivia
The cabin was cozy and beautifully maintained. Plenty of firewood for the wood stove came in handy for the cold spell while we were there. The binder with local info and House tips as well as the notes left behind answered every question. A wonderful getaway weekend we’re sure to recommend to others. Thanks.
Immaculate Comfy and Cozy
This house was extremely clean and welcoming! We will definitely go back. It’s exactly what my friend and I wanted, peace and quiet. “A Retreat In The Woods” is a perfect description!
My husband and I had a great stay at the Retreat in the Woods. It was the perfect spot for disconnecting, very quiet and peaceful. We loved spending time on the screened in porch. Were surprised to see the enormous lightning bugs come out after a storm went through. Love the big windows in the main room, they make for great natural light. The house is fairly remotely located, but there are many easy day trips. We enjoyed Historic Deerfield, Mount Sugarloaf, and Shelburne Falls. A wonderful stay.
Sweet little house with great light and tons of places to explore
Our family had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The kids loved exploring the woods, running around in the yard and drawing in the light-filled kitchen/dining room. I only wish we'd brought a soccer ball ( the big, protected yard was perfect to kick a ball around in) and that we'd had more time to explore the meditation center across the street. We would have made use of more kitchen supplies (sharp knives/pots and pans) but otherwise a peaceful, memorable weekend. Thank you!!
The cabin is located in a rural area, however, there's lots to do! Outdoor activities like hiking and snowshoeing are just outside the door. The property is right on the edge of Savoy State Park, which offers varied terrains and sights. You can see old cemeteries, a fire tower, waterfalls and of course, plenty of wildlife!
