About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

This log cabin is on a quiet road and the only home on fifty acres giving complete privacy. The seven acre pond/lake has excellent fishing for bass and sunfish. We have a canoe, two kayaks and two paddle boats for your use. There are walking trails that offer the chance to see deer, turkey and other wildlife. We are located between Canandaigua Lake and Keuka Lake. We are near the lovely towns of Naples, Penn Yan and Canandaigua. Each town has its unique character and boast shopping, dining and recreation. We believe the Finger Lakes produce some of the best wine in the world. Mitchell Lake is ideally located to tour any of the wine trails. We are quite knowledgeable of the local winerys and can help direct you to ones suited to your taste or interest.

The cabin has a fully equiped kitchen with two refrigerators. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed. The other has a full size and bunk beds. There is one bathroom.

There are upstairs and down living rooms, each with a stone fireplace. The downstairs fireplace has a built in wood stove for cozy heating. Firewood is supplied. There is a covered patio for outdoor dining.

There is a nine hole golf course five minutes away. There are several other challenging courses a short drive and chip away. There are nearby hiking trails that offer a leisurely walk to a challenging trek.

We may be partial but we believe the Finger Lakes is the most beautiful region in the country. Our cabin is the perfect place to explore and enjoy all this wonderful place.

About Paul Mitchell

We are a group of two couples that own the property. We are all related and grew up in the area and continue to live here. We are fortunant to be able to enjoy the cabin ourselves and also can share it with others.

Paul Mitchell purchased this cabin in 1972

Why Paul Mitchell chose Canandaigua Lake

The cabin was a dream of my father's and was completed in 1972. It is built on land originally owned by my Grandfather. We are now into the third and fourth generation to enjoy this wonderful property.

We continue to live in this beautiful area which is our home.

What makes this cabin unique

This is a rustic but very comfortable hand crafted log cabin. It was built by a local contractor who choose the trees and cut them into logs. It was built basically with a chain saw and sledge hammer. He was also a gifted stone mason and built the two large fireplaces that grace the downstairs and the main living room upstairs. We are special in that it is the only home on fifty acres. There is a feeling of isolation not found outside of remote mountain areas.

This is a one of a kind spot that is the most peaceful and beautiful place I know. High in the hills nestled between the Finger Lakes of upstate New York, it sits in the midst of nature. The cabin itself is hand built, with a stone fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and the most beautiful small lake sitting right outside your door.

Within a short drive there are wineries, the Rochester Folk Art Guild, a small golf course, and the Finger Lakes wooden boat museum, among others. If you are lucky, you may hit berry season, with wild blackberries, cherries, and raspberries along the woodland trails. Wildlife viewing is often done from the comfort of the upstairs deck. In sum, once you've stayed here you may never want to go home.

beautiful, serene slice of Heavenb

We have stayed at the beautiful serene Lake Mitchell since it first became available by the Mitchell family. Aa short review cannot begin to express our love for this place. The Mitchell family have been very gracious hosts and friends. I believe we have stayed there for about 15 years or so. The campfires, the cookouts, the fishing and the cozy wood fire in the evening are but a few of our great memories. We have reserved a week this year as well and look forward to our visit there. We affectionately refer to it as our "Golden Pond". Come and experience it first hand and make it your new getaway.
