Fancy taking a break in the Belgian Ardennes hills? To bike a rough mountain bike course and enjoy a lovely Belgian 'Leffe' beer afterwards? Or fancy discovering the hilly landscape on foot or by bike? 'Heerlijk Ardennen' holiday cottage offers you the best of both worlds: outdoor sports on your doorstep, as well as a peaceful retreat on your own private, sunny balcony.
The cottage ideally caters for two adults and three or four children. There are five proper beds, and room enough for an extra mattress or baby cot on the landing.
Entering the cottage through the front door, you will find yourself in the kitchen and dining area (again, catering for and seating up to 6 people). The lovely lounge area offers satellite TV and a DVD player. There is free WIFI throughout the entire cottage.
The spacious bathroom (plus toilet) is also situated on the ground floor. At the rear of the cottage you will find a lovely, secluded and private balcony just for yourself. Table, chairs and parasol are provided. This spring we added a picknick area to the front of the cottage, where you can enjoy the sun throughout the day.
Climbing a fairly steep flight of stairs, you will enter the landing, with on either side a bedroom. One double bedroom (double bed), and double bedroom (two single beds). On the landing is a fifth bed as well as room for an extra mattress and/or baby cot.

The Ardennes region is a perfect region for either rough outdoor activities such as mountain biking or canoeing on the one hand, or tranquil and peaceful hikes through lovely hilly countryside and reading a book by the fire, on the other.
A whole variety of flavors come from this lofty land in the hilly southeast of Belgium: game, wild boar, venison, smoked ham, the region’s famous paté and world-renowned Trappist beers. Mostly located in Belgium, the Ardennes mountains also nudge into France and Luxembourg. Dense forests flank the steep hillsides, and market towns and villages perch on river banks. Spring and summer show this lush area at its best, but cross country skiing opportunities make a good case for winter visits.
Durbuy Adventure (outdoor activity centre for outdoor sports, canoeing, climbing, wild water rafting, mountain biking etc), Plopsa Coo (children’s amusement park)
Durbuy Chocolat, chocolate market in Springtime Durbuy; local Brocante Markets (almost every month, in one or more towns)
Ardennes villages such as: Spa, Malmedy, Bastogne, Verviers, Stavelot, La Roche, Hotton, Remouchamps
Cities for shopping and cultural heritage: Namur, Liege, Brussels, Antwerp
Mountainbike-routes, hiking routes,
We've fallen in love with the Ardennes ever since visiting it since childhood. The hills are beautiful in every single season: the fresh green colors of springtime, the lush hillsides and brooks in Summer; the beautiful red, green and brown colors of Fall and the quiet (sometimes white colors) of Winter. The area is ideal for hiking, mountain biking or cycling. Also the many little brooks and rivers are ideal for little adventurers to build fortresses in. We had been trying to find a perfect hideaway for several years before we came across the gorgeous setting of Sunclass Park. Seeing the triangular shaped cottages for the first time was enough to keep us there.
We live in the Rotterdam area in the Netherlands; a 3 hour-drive will take us to our cottage. If we are not visiting it, we hope that you will have as much pleasure exploring the Ardennes hills!
Henk and Sigrid purchased this bungalow in 2014
