About Bonnie

We were looking for a safe tropical location with great beaches that would allow us to escape from the harsh winters in the Canadian Rockies.

Bonnie purchased this condo in 2014

Why Bonnie chose Kona Coast

My husband and I were looking for a safe tropical location with great beaches that would allows us to escape from the harsh winters in the Canadian Rockies with our young daughter. We are drawn to this particular location primarily for the spectacular ocean view, quite surrounding, and the serene tropical plants and blossoms in the grounds around the complex. The complex has a mixture of vacationers and long term residents who are super friendly and offers a very peaceful place to call home away from home.

What makes this condo unique

The location is an ideal anchoring place to explore the island. It is only steps to Keauhou Bay which offers kayak/canoe rentals and many ocean adventures. Shopping is convenient with two - three weekly farmers markets and Keauhou Shopping center and other at the Sheraton Parking lot all within 3 mins away. There are two great beaches close by: Kahuluu Beach Park offers great snorkeling and little tidal pools for little ones to enjoy. We often see Honu's (turtles) sun bathing at Kahuluu Beach as well. Magic Sands offers powerful waves for boogie boarding and simple fun under the sun on beautiful white beaches. During winter months when waves as strong, the sand disappears into the ocean, hence the name: Magic Sands. Mantra rays visits the Keauhou Bay at nights to feed on plankton, and can be viewed from Sheraton's Ray on the Bay just down the from the complex! It's also a mile away on sea to Captain Cook, one of the best diving and snorkeling sites on the island: Two Steps, and Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park with its wonders in history and culture. A short distance away, you can watch or swim with the spinner dolphins at Kealakekua Bay. This location is an excellent starting point to explore Captain Cook, Mauna Kea, Volcano, and everything Big Island has to offer including multiple beaches: Kapuna Beach, Black sand beach, Green sand beach and many others. Don't forget to visit the Seahorse farm by the Kona Airport; the Botanical Gardens, Akaka Falls, and Rainbow falls in Hilo. Big Island, Hawaii is one of the few places where you can literally snow board and go beaching, snorkeling and diving on the same day when enough snow accumulates on the peaks of Mauna Kea, so the possibilities are endless.

Gorgeous!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! The condo is beautiful, well-maintained and in a convenient location. The pool is quiet and a perfect ending to a day filled with touring around Hawaii. We enjoyed Lahaina, golfing and snorkeling in the area. Bonnie and Nancy were very helpful and extremely accommodating. We highly recommend this condo.

Beautiful with perfect location

  • 4 of 5

The location of this condo is perfect for little day trips to anywhere on the island. Everything is within 2hrs usually of this condo and some good tourist shopping is within 45min in Waikoloa Village. There is no air conditioning for those of you that are use to this, but with all the fans on and the main bedroom door closed it keeps the room cool and nice. There is also so much stuff there already from past visitors and/or residents that it was very helpful. Everyday condiments for cooking, coolers, travel water bottles, beach towels, buggy boards, goggles, laundry products, and every day showering needs to name a few. This was such a wonderfully pleasent honeymoon and vacation for my husband and I. Definitely will suggest this place again. Two tips for your trip; Rental car is a must and stop at the Punalu’u Bake Shop as much as you can for their malasadas!

Would love to stay again.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in April, 2017 and found this condo very clean and well stocked and just as advertised. It has a wonderful view of the ocean and a nice size lanai. It is in a small condo complex with a pool and is in a quite location, which we prefer. The owner, Bonnie, was quick to respond to any questions we had. We would love to return for a longer stay.

Wonderful place.

Accommodation was excellent! A/C would have been nice, but there were ample fans.

Plenty of snorkel gear, chairs, boogie boards for a beach visit.

View and accommodations were as expected and described.

Thank you!!

Relaxing & lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

The condo itself was larger than expected, great lighting and views. Woke up to the sounds of birds every morning. The pool was great. We went down the adjacent road past the Sheraton and took the SeaQuest snorkel tour which was a fun time and v convenient. Bonnie gives you everything you need if you want to snorkel/ explore beaches on your own. It's a great place. I wish we had gone to Rays at the Bay at Sheraton and looked at the mantas, but maybe next time. :)
