We had such a fabulous time at Baywatch Cottage. The location is so scenic, and accessible to some fantastic beaches on the Atlantic side of the island, Hillside Grocery, and each tip of the island is a pretty easy drive from the house.
Phil met us at the airport and gave us a full overview of the house, then left us to our own private world. We cooked several meals and made good use of the grill at the house. My favorite restaurant was The Forest, while my wife favored Chez Pierre's establishment.
Long Island had so much beauty that some of the other family islands do not, especially the elevation on the Atlantic.
Thank you for all your help in making this vacation hassle-free and a wonderful memory for the two of us.

This was our first trip to Long Island and Baywatch Cottage, within three days of our our eight day vacation we had already rebooked. The property is amazing, with views that can't be beat. Waking up each morning looking out at Thompson Bay was the best way to start the day full of adventures. The location is perfect with amenities close by, food places to dine at and views to behold.
Long Island itself was an outstanding experience. From dolphins swimming in the moon's glow, to friendly waves as we drove, to beaches without people, to beautiful shells collected, to swimming in shrimp grottos hidden behind a church, this made for one of our most memorable vacations.
We can't wait for our return!
Had everything we needed for cooking as there are not many restaurants on the island.
Be careful walking around the property very uneven. If you aren't good on your feet not the place for you or if your going to be drinking a lot not the place. My husband fell on the first night and got scratched up by the coral. Not a deal breaker just no ahead of time be careful. Overall this was a great home and Cheryl was very easy to deal with ahead of time and also while we were there. Phil was a great meet at the airport and rode with us back to the cottage pointing out spots to see and things to do. Very very friendly Phil, Debbie and Cheryl thank you for a terrific trip.
Can't say enough about our wonderful stay at Bay Watch Cottage. The property was everything we could have hoped for and more. Lovely interior and décor, all the necessary amenities and a knockout view of the bay and the privacy of our own little cove and dock to watch sunsets, have morning coffee and swim from.
Owners were welcoming and wonderful and nearby for assistance if needed, was terrific for all info about the island.
Property is really nicely located very near a well-stocked market that had pretty much everything you needed, a convenient liquor store, gas station nearby and a farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Also, the location on the property is in the middle of the island so it was easy to get to the North part of the island as well as head South.
Great restaurant about 5 miles from the cottage in Chez Pierre. Cross between French, Italian and a dash of Caribbean thrown in. You HAVE to make reservations and Don't show up late (or too early). Cape Santa Maria resort was also a nice stop for a meal and we were able to use the beach there as well. Gorgeous beach, stunning with warm, amazing blue water and sand that feels like baby powder on your toes.
Dean's Blue Hole is a must see. Great place for snorkeling, especially around the perimeter of the blue hole where the ledge is.
The island is an outer island so it is remote and doesn't have a real center, but if you are in the mode of adventure, beautiful seascapes, secluded beaches that you can have all to yourself, wonderful snorkeling, and a lot of rest and relaxing, this property and island is the right fit.
But most of all, the people of Long Island are truly wonderful, gracious and genuine people. The island is safe, welcoming and everyone is friendly and helpful. Have been to many other islands where the islanders are nice to you to your face, but then you get the feeling they are talking about you behind your back. Not the case on Long Island. Never a worry for safety and again, the people were lovely--with no exceptions.
Lastly, don't forget to bring your bug spray. You will need it for sure!
The home was in excellent condition and very well appointed. The location is on the sheltered side of the island with a small private beach, which is a great spot for relaxing in the afternoon. There are several beaches on the offshore islands that can be reached by kayak. The home is very close to the Atlantic beaches, a grocery store and a liquor store as well.
The hosts were excellent, even going so far as to repeatedly follow up with the local airline which mis-directed our luggage and bring it to us when it arrived. Their help was invaluable in getting our vacation back on track.
We can't recommend this home enough for your stay on LI.
Another wonderful stay at the cottage. The views are priceless and the owners are off the chain!
This was our fifth trip to Long Island but our first stay at Baywatch Cottage. Long Island is a beautiful place, very special, and this cottage is a great gateway to the island. Its location is terrific: it's just 1/4 mile from the best grocery on the island and maybe 1/2 island from the farmer's market (open on Saturday mornings). Despite this convenient location, it's very private and out of the way. The cottage is new and well appointed. It faces Salt Pond Bay, which is westward, so you can watch the sunset every night. The helpful owner Phil lives on the property but up the hill and behind a lot of trees. If you need him, he's there; if you don't need him, he's not.
You can't go wrong with Baywatch Cottage.
In the area of Salt Pond you will find beautiful Atlantic Ocean beaches with cliffs and little coves along with long stretches of white sandy beach. Meet the locals at the Souside bar and grill. Grocery store and liquor store within walking distance from cottage. The harbor front is perfect for kayaking or stand up paddle board. Fly-fishing enthusiasts can wade and cast along the shoreline of Indian Hole Point. Buy fresh homemade bread. Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 9-12noon.
