The Parrot Tree Studio at Villa Delfin: This studio apartment is part of a large spanish colonial style villa. A beautiful plunge pool surrounded by a fantastic jungle setting is shared by all suites. Enjoy the jungle view from your private balcony. The studio is spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen, pillow top queen bed, living/dining area and balcony. Just a short walk to one of the most incredible Caribbean white sand beaches in the world and located half way between the charming town of West End and the popular resort area of West Bay.

I finished construction of the villa in 2008 and am now managing it with my husband. I am also one of the local musicians on the island!
Carleen lay purchased this studio in 2008
Roatan offers some of the best diving in the world with the most stunning uncrowded beaches you will ever find!
The villa is only a 5 minute walk down the hill to the beach, has a beautiful pool with jungle and ocean views and we are an eco villa with all of our 110V appliances run by solar power! The a/c units are run by the island's power (additional cost of $10/night).
Our stay at Villa delfin was a great experience.
We stayed there for a week, in the Studio unit. There is a few other units on the property including the owners. Carleen and her husband were very friendly and even gave us a lift into town one day. As far as the property goes, it is quite nice and very well maintained and most of all very safe!
The Studio apartment is great for a couple. It had all the necessary amenities we needed, and the large refrigerator was great for storing our drinks and food. There is also plenty of parking if you decide to rent a car or scooter which we did as we wanted to explore the island. The Studio sits on the 2nd floor, so you get a nice strong breeze in the evening which was nice.
The apartments sits up in the jungle away from the beach. Although you can take a short walk down to the nearest beach area to catch a water taxi, but walking back up the pretty steep hill is not much fun. There are no stores or restaurants nearby, so you have to walk down and catch a water taxi or call one from your unit. Although I think there was a restaurant /resort down by the beach area but we did not try it.
So if you prefer to be away from everything and everyone then this complex will be great for you. But if you like the convenience of all the options at West Bay or West end like we did, then you might want to stay closer to the hustle and bustle.
We would definitely recommend this rental property to our friends and family.
Thank you for your hospitality, Carleen! :D
Unbelievable deal on a huge studio apartment; all the amenities of home and a short walk to the beach or Water Taxi. Chilling in the crystal clear pool at sunset was my favorite part of the day. Great hosts let me know where (and when) to see some the hidden treasures of the island. No doubt I'll be back; thanks for such an amazing experience!
My girlfriend and I recently stayed in the Parrot Tree Studio. It had absolutely everything we desired for our vacation. The studio functioned perfectly with a nice kitchen to cook our meals and a beautiful jungle setting patio where we could relax and enjoy the meal.
Villa Del Fin itself was only a 5 minute walk or so down to the beautiful secluded beaches in between West Bay and West End. Walking to either of these popular destination spots was only a quick 15-20 minute walk away. It was a relief to get some exercise and have peaceful walks along the beautiful sandy coastline beaches of Roatan. However, it does get a little rocky as you walk towards West End.
Carleen and Marlin were great hosts. They were willing to help or provide advice with anything they could. They have a gorgeous property on an amazing island paradise.
I would highly recommend staying in the Parrot Tree Studio. Considering our budget we could have not done any better. It allowed us to appreciate many other parts of the island and water activities. Its location was far enough away from the hustle and bustle to stay quiet, but also close enough to find with a quick walk.
Thanks for the hospitality Carleen and Marlin!
This gets wordy as I like to include helpful hints and such in my reviews. My son and I stayed for a week in January on a mother/son bonding trip. What a wonderful place. The owners, Carleen and Marlin, picked us up at the airport and we grocery shopped on the way in. When we arrived at the studio I noticed how well laid out and ultra clean it was. It has great views and is very quiet. We brought the majority of our food (bring ziplock bags to store opened food in the fridge) and cooked in most days. We did make it to the rotisserie chicken place in West End twice though. This was the first vacation where I actually lost weight due to all the walking we did. Lots of hills. I loved that we were hooked up with an island cell phone pre-programmed with taxi numbers. Cheap and cheerful way to get to West End or West Bay for 5.00. There are water taxis also for 3.00 pp to get to West bay or West End also. We walked to West Bay every day and took a taxi back. The BEST zipline on the island is South Shore Zipline!! Just a short steep walk up the hill. We did that twice!! Ask for Preston as he gives you a killer deal on the second trip. Just dont go on a day when the cruise ships are in as you wont get a personalized experience with tons of photos and videos with your own device. We went to the Iguana Farm, Mayan Eden eco-park, tons of snorkeling, Underwater Museum, Gumbalimba park, deep see fishing (preston hooked us up for great price) and of course shopping. We wanted to go Mud Buggying but ran out of time. Definately bring a set of beach towels (things dont dry well if it rains with the humidity) your own snorkel gear, Deep Woods off with 25% deet (an absolute must every time you go out, unless bugs hate you) and have the cab driver drop off your laundry (towels especially) on the way to an adventure. Be sure and rinse out your swimsuits every time. Carleen has posted a helpful hint paper by the kitchen sink which is very handy. We got to see so many animals which we loved. We saw Iguana, geckos, vultures, parrots, monkeys, bats, fireflies, butterflies, hummingbirds, big ants, turkeys, tons of fish, starfish, conch and of course our least favorite sand flies. I also loved the outdoor deck on top of the building for viewing sunsets. I bet if you ask you could get some chairs up there. There is a safe to use which was great...only one key so I found some string and tied it to my suit just in case. You will love this place!! Thanks
We stayed in the Parrot Tree studio last March while building our own home on Roatan. The place is adorable, built like a brick privy, and very, very clean. Although the owners Carleen and Marlin live right nearby in another part of the villa, the place still feels like you are in your own private home. Sunrises arrive over a cute little balcony; the ceilings are vaulted to about 20 feet; and the overall feel of the studio is of very high quality finishes and standards of construction. (I notice these things, especially since lots of Roatan is pretty shoddily built. Villa Delfin is definitely not; there are luxury homes in the US and Europe that are not put together like this studio is.)
The owners are full-time residents of the island, and they have embraced the island lifestyle completely. Most afternoons at around 4:30 they can be found taking a dip in the pool, almost always accompanied by some of their guests and perhaps a neighbor or two. They are very knowledgeable about the island, are a tremendous resource for anyone wanting to explore the island, and are incredibly, incredibly generous with their time. Staying here is worth it just to get to know them.
What I would not recommend this place for is if you are on spring break (or its adult equivalent) and all you want is to be in the middle of the loud reggae music and cheap rum. You can find that kind of action on the island, but it is at least a 10-minute walk from Villa Delfin. If you are more of the beach walk, snorkel, and sleep where you can hear the jungle type, you'll find it to your liking.
I stayed at Villa Delfin for 2 weeks in June/July of this year and loved it! The apartment was well appointed and very clean. It's a short walk to the beach or can go for a dip in the pool. The views
are spectacular. The owners are great, very helpful and hospitable. I would definitely recommend it and I would go back.
