About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 2 Baths, (Max 6)

Come enjoy your private yet easily accessible 5 acre estate on the Clark Fork River in Western Montana.

Are you interested in casting dry flies to the world famous rainbow and brown trout of Montana?

At the riverfront Sans Souci Cabin you can fish directly out your back door on the Clark Fork River and also have easy access to all of the other trout fishing streams in the area: The Clark Fork,

Bitterroot, Blackfoot, and Missouri rivers are all close by as well as the one of a kind Rock Creek. It is truly a spectacular location for some of the best trout fishing in the lower 48.

Do you also enjoy hiking, hunting, ATV riding, horseback riding, or snowmobiling? The Sans Souci Cabin borders the over 2 million acres of the Lolo National Forest and all of the wild beauty and adventure it provides.

If whitewater rafting or kayaking is your thing, the Alberton Gorge on the Clark Fork River hosts the best whitewater in Western Montana and is only an easy and scenic 20 minute drive downstream of the cabin.

Maybe best of all, staying at the San Souci Cabin affords you all of these remote outdoor adventure options and yet is just a quick 25 minute drive to all of the shops, restaurants, bars, concerts, and University of Montana sporting events that downtown Missoula, MT has to offer.

This 1700 sq. ft. four bedroom, two bath, completely renovated cabin is situated among tall Ponderosa pine trees and is perfectly laid out for entertaining family and friends.

Relax in the sunroom and watch the wildlife that visits the property: moose, bear, coyote, deer, elk, and bald eagles all call this stretch of the Lower Clark Fork River home and are not uncommon visitors to Sans Souci.

Have the chef of the family cook up meals in the fully appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances and then gather around the custom made dining table constructed by local craftsmen from trees milled in the area.

Time to watch the big game on the satellite? Your friends and family will enjoy relaxing in the vaulted ceiling great room while watching the game on the 50 inch flat screen TV.

Have fun watching the bighorn sheep across the river on Cinderella Mountain.

About The Owner

Spending time with my family at the cabin is my favorite thing to do.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why The Owner chose Alberton

“I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.”

John Steinbeck

What makes this cabin unique

Being surrounded by true wild beauty and all kinds of outdoor pursuits, yet close enough to take advantage of a mountain college town only 25 minutes away in Missoula.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house is wonderful and the setting is amazing. The house is nestled in the mountains next to the beautiful Clark Fork River. The kitchen was great for entertaining and also for fixing meals. Lots of room to cook and still feel a part of the activities. The bedrooms and beds were comfortable and private.. The house is family friendly. The river is easily accessible from the yard, it is a great place for a family. I began planning my return trip before I had even left the property. I can't wait for my next visit.

Love to fish and relax with family

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. It is very convenient for fishing and for local drop offs. It is quiet and only about a half hour drive from Missoula where we watched Montana football!

The cabin has a terrific history and is very well taken care of. It is just perfect.

We love the Montana cabin!

  • 5 of 5

It's the perfect location for our annual family get together! The cabin is private, clean, comfortable and offers everything you need to entertain. We have plenty of space for our big, multi generational group to play games, fish, swim and float the river. We enjoy the fire pit and stars each evening. We are already booked for next year! It's a great base for many Montana adventures and experiences!

I'd also like to thank Brian Beckman, the owners brother, who graciously offered us a ride to the airport at the end of our stay when our rental car failed us! He could not have been nicer! We were very grateful!

Friends Fishing

  • 5 of 5

By the pictures & the description, you might think it cant be true? Well that just ain't so! Everything is even better than described about the San Souci cabin. The river front is spectacular! The Cabin is better than described. Everything from the bedding to the pots & pans are very well thought out.Be careful about the price & the grill! The VRBO price & Adam's don't match. And, there is a grill, but you will need to bring charcoal. Adam keeps the good grill locked up?

Owner's Response: Thanks Billy. Sorry again we declined your nightly discount request and I will have someone check on the situation with the grill. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Adam

Outstanding cabin in an extraordinary spot......

  • 5 of 5

The cabin sits right on the river making your fishing day start right away. It's spotless and has a TV for the football games if you're there in the fall. Plenty of room and everything is there for most every day needs. Also, you're not far from the Bitterroot or the Blackfoot or Rock Creek if those waters beckon. The pictures can't capture how nice the setting is, and the sun room is the big bonus, especially if you're just back from falling in the river and need to warm up. The cabin is very clean and well kept. Just up the road is the River's Edge Steakhouse with its own ambience and good food (go on a Sunday night and you'll hear some very good local country and western singers.) Highly recommend this exceptional cabin.

A beautiful place

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful and a well-tended cabin. The owner has gone out of his way to make this a great experience. However, if you are sensitive to noise, the trains may bother you, especially at night.
