With its proximity and cultural similarity to New York City, Hudson County is sometimes called 'New York’s sixth borough'. While living in Hudson County, residents experience the best New Jersey has to offer, with the luxury of being only minutes from the city.
Jersey City, lying at the west bank of the Hudson River, is a hub of industry with its oil refineries, warehouses, and plants. Although known for its industrial prowess, Jersey City’s gem is Liberty State Park, which offers impeccable views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. Liberty State Park also houses the historical remnants of the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal. Today, the site offers ferry services to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Another popular spot in the park is the Liberty Science Center, an interactive science museum that is fun and educational for children, and even adults who are young-at-heart. Liberty State Park is also the site for myriad concerts and entertainment events, such as the annual Liberty Jazz Festival, held the first weekend after Labor Day. While in Hudson County, weekly visits to Hoboken are the norm. A cultural Mecca, Hoboken is home to some of the country’s finest restaurants, bars, art galleries, entertainment venues, and parks. Lined with acclaimed restaurants, chic bars, and eclectic shops, Washington Street is Hoboken’s main hub of activity. One of Washington Street’s most-renowned hotspots is Maxwell’s, a restaurant/club that offers some of the best music, food, and drinks in the Metropolitan area. For film buffs, the Hoboken International Film Festival is one of many festivals hosted in Hoboken. Whatever your fancy, Hoboken offers countless options for daytime and evening entertainment.
Public transportation is exceptional in this part of the state; travel options include bus, train, light rail, or car. The Lincoln Tunnel travels directly into Manhattan from Weehawken while the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne offers ferry access into the city. The Hoboken Terminal offers train and bus transportation throughout Northern New Jersey and New York City.
