This very private cottage is located on the 55 acre Cienaga Creek Ranch high in the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. Off-grid - this cottage runs completely on solar power. Enjoy beautiful mountain views from every window. The separate bedroom has a queen bed under a skylight, large oversized jacuzzi tub for two (also under a skylight!) and a large double-headed shower. The kitchen is fully equipped for light cooking with stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, coffee beans, grinder, filters. A gas barbecue is located just outside your door. The living room area has wood burning fireplace, a flat screen tv with dvd player - and a complimentary movie library. The queen futon accommodates 2 additional guests. The cottage has a covered porch with porch swing and sitting area. A double-person hammock is provided for you to hang up under the trees. About Vickie Wilson

We both grew up in Orange County, Southern California, and moved to San Bernardino in 1981. Desiring our sons to grow up with some space around them, we purchased the ranch near Big Bear Lake in 1991 when our boys were 6, 4, 2 and 2 months old. We lived in the 500 sf cottage that is now called Ironwood Lodge - the only building on the ranch. The six of us lived in the cottage (yes, we were a bit crazy!!) while we built what is now the main house - called Granite Vista. It took us 3 years before it was completed enough for us to move in. We did the majority of building ourselves, with help from family and friends. After moving in to the 'big' house, Ironwood sat empty for a few years. With the encouragement of some friends who owned a lodge in town, we remodeled it and began renting it out. Our guests liked it so much that we built three more - Mountain Sunset, Hunter's Lodge and Wild Rose - ready for New Year's 2000. A few years later we acquired the Kopitch Cottage (built by the Kopitch family) that sat on 10 acres bordering our original 40 acres…. then a few years later we built Juniper Ridge - 2000 sf, 3 bedroom 2 bath family cabin. We recently remodeled our home to have available for large groups. Now that the boys are grown, we love to travel and spend several months every year exploring other countries on our motorcycle - BMW 1200 GS. We recently spent 5 months in Central America and 2 months in Thailand. Though we love traveling, there is no place like home!

Our ranch is only 2 hours from Los Angeles, but in an area where there are no utilities. This fact allowed us to purchase acreage at a reasonable cost. With advances in technology, solar power has become more affordable. Every cottage and home on our ranch is run on solar power! Far from utility lines, yet only 15 minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, skiing and the lake, we feel like our ranch is in an ideal location.

What makes this cabin unique

Our ranch is forested with tall pines, huge junipers, fir and lodge pole pines. To hike through the forest on the trails on and around our ranch is one of our favorite past times. The Pacific Crest Trail crosses our ranch. At an elevation of 8200, the sky is blue and the stars are amazing. The peace and quiet is so restful.

Sprint and Verizon offer great cell coverage. During the winter months you must carry chains (all vehicles) and be prepared to chain up your vehicle if you do not have 4WD.

Beyond expectations!

Every aspect of this stay was PERFECT. It was immaculately clean, tastefully furnished, generously accommodated with goodies, had great proximity to Big Bear and felt incredibly secluded! I have no words as to how amazing this place was! My inquiries were always addressed and the entire process was a breeze. Guaranteed that this is the only place I will be staying for future visits. Actually wish I could live here! Thank you so much to Vickie for making this the greatest trip I've experienced to date. Will definitely be back soon!

Rates are subject to change until reservation is confirmed. Pet charge is $10 per night per pet. Two-night minimum stay required weekends. No arrivals or departures on December 25 or January 1. Weekly rate not valid during holiday time periods.

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
