This is a lovely village house in the heart of a pitoresque village. The village has many restaurants and a lot to offer. The best part is that the house is in the middle of the village, protected by the other houses -and the street is very quiet. The house consists of a total of 5 floors. No garden, but we have a place where we put the table outside.
1st floor . Has direct access to street level. Here we have a dining table and a sofa that converts into a double bed and a large closet . In this large closet there are towels, sheets , duvets , pillows and blankets . Furthermore, there is a new shower, a washing machine and a separate toilet and sink . This whole floor can be closed off - this allows guests to have this for themselves, for example if you are two generations on vacation. This room is Perfect for the ones who don't like the stairs.. The washing machine is brand new and is nicely hidden behind a cupboard.
The 2nd floor consists of kitchen and dining area with a large Provencal fireplace .
The long table seats up to eight people. From here one can see the flames in the fireplace or converse with the current Chef de Cuisine. The kitchen has kettle , coffee maker , stove and dishwasher . Our moto is 'what you use you replace', so we allow coffee, tea, salt , pepper , herbs and other perishable food items to be available. Use it or buy new for yourself . Various cleaning supplies in the cupboard under the sink . Everything within crockery and cutlery is obviously in place .
3rd floor . Consists of master bedroom with den and attached bathroom . The den has a two story bed (IKEA).This is Perfect for example when you have children. There are even extra mattresses under the two story bed - if the children want to sleep as Close to mummy as possible or have invited friends to sleep over, etc. In the bathroom there is a shower , wash basin and toilet -all brand new (April 2014) At one point there is a low ceiling on the stairs between 3 and 4 floor, the house is almost 150 years old and has been built in layers. Hence the stairs....
4 floor consists of one bedroom (single bed ) and living room . The living room has high ceilings and Velux Window , and in addition there is a built-in terrace . In the living room you can make the sofa into a double bed. There are two additional beds under the stairs. The terrace has much pleasure -you have a lovely mountain view (lit up in the evening) . The built-in terrace has a sink with hot and cold water as well as a fridge to keep the drinks cold.
The 5th floor consists of one bedroom with a sofa bed. Here we also have an air condition machine.
In addition : There is wireless internet and TV. Instructions for different electrical equipment located in a folder in the kitchen.
We are a French Norwegian family with many children. We love languages and tennis, Cotignac has two tennis courts - and many good children friendly restaurants.
Anni L purchased this house in 2012
Provence is great, but Cotignac is the best. Small village where everything is so french, the people are nice and friendly and the food is good. Not too many tourists and a very quiet street. Also the house has (to us) such charm we could not resist. Since the man of house is French this was also a wonderful occasion to have a small 'pied-à-terre' in France.
We spent a fantastic 11 days in this charming house (with lots of stairs), located at a perfect spot in a wonderful village. There were only 5 of us, so we could really spread out. The house is very roomy, and we found it very clean and welcoming.
The owner is extremely helpful, and answered our questions (via SMS) within a couple of hours, if not minutes.
We cooked a few meals in the kitchen, which worked very well. Otherwise, the village has several very nice restaurants that we strongly recommend. La Terrace was our favorite, but there were other very good ones too.
The village is absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed both walking the streets of the village itself, as well as "hiking" the cliffs and a walking tour to the nearby very picturesque waterfall. And do not forget the Saturday and Tuesday markets! We also paid a few nice visits to nearby wineries. Carpe Diem, which is a smaller winery very close to the village, is strongly recommended!
We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. It is even suitable for a fairly large group.
Very much enjoyed our stay in this house. Being very traditional, required a little bit of adjustment- a lot of stairs and might not suit people who find stairs difficult. Once we got used to managing it- ie bottom floor and toilet approached from wide patio doors on to street, using main kitchen area and master bedroom mostly and top room for watching tv, it was extremely comfortable and we were very pleased with everything that was provided. Very well thought out. A really lovely interesting home from home. Thank you Anni
Location pour un week-end de 3 nuits fin octobre. Nous avons adoré, et le soleil était de la partie. Je recommande sans problème cette location. Propriétaire extrêmement sympathique. Foncez !!!!
