This charming and unique house is only 500 feet from the beach yet offers peace and privacy.
A 30s Craftsman with original fir floors and a wood burning stove fireplace, the main house is approximately 720 square feet and has been lovingly maintained and updated with modern nautical decor. The house has one bedroom and one bathroom with queen size bed, an airy living room with pull-out sofa (the second bed), dining area and full kitchen.
A separate cottage is a garage space with washer, dryer and beach items (towels, wetsuits, chairs, picnic basket, etc).
Amenities include flat screen televisions loaded with Apple TV , a landline with free calls in the US, coffee, tea and small breakfast items, and board games for nights at home.
Beds provided are as follows:
1 queen size bed in bedroom
1 full/queen size pullout sofa in living room
We do have a Pack N Play crib as well as an air mattress on hand and can accommodate up to 5 people if 1 or more are children. Off-street parking for two cars is available within the property (although we often like to park directly across the street and leave the garden open).
Less than an hour's drive from San Francisco and on the edge of Mt Tamalpais State Park, the Stinson Beach House is a perfect year round spot for romantic weekends, families and weekend escapes. Conveniently located from Sausalito and Marin, Stinson Beach is a great starting off point for exploring spots like Muir Woods, Mt Tamalpais, Bolinas, Point Reyes, Tomales Bay, Muir Beach and much more.
No smoking and no pets allowed on the property.
A native of southern California, the Bay Area is now home for myself, my husband and our two small children. I love living here and am happy for others to experience the abundant natural beauty of Stinson Beach and West Marin.
Tanya Naouri purchased this house in 2014
With its sandy shores and the backdrop of Mt Tamalpais, we love the unique beauty and local flavor of Stinson Beach. It's the perfect getaway for international travelers and local Bay Area dwellers alike.
With its enclosed bricked English style garden, the Stinson Beach House feels like your own private oasis, while still remaining close to the beach and town. We've infused the original Craftsman charm of the house with modern nautical decor.
Our stay at Tanya's Stinson Beach house was the ideal labor day weekend getaway for our family of four. It's a short walk to the beach and our boys, ages 10 &13, ventured down to play and boogie board several times a day on their own. We took long walks and jogs along the shoreline from Stinson to Bolinas, just soaking up the beautiful scenery. We spent our evenings together by the fire playing Monopoly and lazy mornings lounging around reading and eating pastries from Parkside Cafe. The decor is lovely, the bedding is comfortable, and it's the perfect beach cottage to visit on the weekends for much needed R&R and family bonding. It was a real treat for all of us!
Everything was great - loved that you can pull your small car right into the driveway and close the gate, love the wood burning stove and the two wall heaters (which kept the house nice and cozy even in cold, rainy November), and the decor and kitchen are great. Only thing that needs updating is the pullout couch! It's not very comfortable - my husband and I slept on it the first night and put our children in the bedroom but one side slopes and it made for not a great night of sleeping! The second night we all bunked together in the bedroom and put one child on a small mattress on the floor that we brought with us. If the owner could replace the foldout couch this place would easily garner a 5-star rating. Beautiful, well-tended gardens including roses and mint surround the cottage as a nice bonus. Even though we had a lot of rain we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful light this house gets while we stayed cozily in for a couple days of relaxation.
Upon arrival we parked in the sandy parking space that was advised. No problem, but I figured that at least the parking spot would be on the same side of the road as the house. No...it was across the main street which wasn't heavy with traffic but more than a quiet street would have. We arrived after dark and the front was pretty dark and hard to see. On first view the house was pretty clean and cute. The bedroom was nice. When we tried to turn on lights, many of the switches throughout the house did not work. As soon as I went to throw away the garbage I was carrying I noticed that the garbage in the house was completely full and even worse...the top item was a used and dirty diaper. So...in the first 5 minutes there I had to take out the garbage. Next I headed to the bathroom to wash my hands and a black hair in the sink. Not nice to find that either...which makes one wonder what else has not been cleaned in the house. The bathroom was in need of care and updating especially because no water would even go down the sink. It sat for a minimum of 30 minutes each time we used the sink for any reason. When we moved the coffee table to set up the bed for my daughter to sleep on, we noticed that the rug underneath had many stains and was in need of some cleaning. After going out to dinner, we came back for a nice quiet night...we turned on the TV and nothing. It did not work. My husband worked on it for at least 30 minutes and nothing. Overall, the house was in very mediocre shape. We found cobwebs in various places and it just wasn't kept up like my other VRBO experiences. I have stayed throughout the world with VRBO and other similar companies and this is the first time I have had these kind of issues. Also, extremely upsetting because the house was extremely small and not very clean was the extremely high charge for cleaning. If the people before me were charged so much, why wasn't the house impeccable?
We were just a short walk to the beach, in an area where the beach isn't that crowded even on a sunny day. I think because it is a ways down the beach on the residential side. We saw dolphins our first day and seals every day. Apparently there are humpback whales passing by, too!
The house is very clean and comfortable. The walk to downtown Stinson is quick via the beach. The owner is very nice and accommodating. Will definitely be back for another little getaway!!! Love this place!
We had a great time at Stinson and this was the ideal place to stay. It had everything we could want and an extremely comfortable bed!
My family had a wonderful time at Tanya's beach house. With a fantastic location just steps from the beach, the house itself is stylish, light-filled, spacious for a one-bedroom, and completely comfortable. When we had a question upon check-in, Tanya was super-responsive and helpful. Can't wait to return!
This sweet little house has everything you need for a wonderful beach vacation. The owners are quick to respond if you have questions. It is clean and has updated, clever decor. The full sized kitchen is well equipped and there are large tables for indoor and outdoor dining. The bed is comfy with nice linens and the out building is stocked with beach chairs, boards and wetsuits. While not beachfront, the walk is easy and the ocean audible at night as you drift off to sleep. Incredible coastline views, Muir Woods and Mt. Tam surround with the tiny town offering good meals. Suggest bringing food to add to your enjoyment and relaxing time at Stinson Beach.
