About David Brate
Hi, I grew up in a small town about 80 miles west of Chicago. I graduated from Illinois State University in 1977 where I was a Student Advisor for 4 years. I relocated to Seattle in 1980 where I attended graduate school at the University of Washington. In the latter years of the 80's, my wife and I discovered the Pacific Beach/Moclips area and fell in love with it. The deserted beach and friendly residents drew us to the area. We have never looked back.
David Brate purchased this House in 2007
Why David Brate chose Moclips
We were the 1st to discover this beachfront oasis on Sunset Street and were lucky enough to see the potential that being so close to the ocean can bring. In the early 2000's we began our journey and started the planning of Daybreak On Sunset. In 2007 our dream was completed.
What makes this House unique
Our home is on the beach and unlike many other homes on the beaches of Washington, the ocean and waves are very close. There are many homes on the Washington coast that advertise of being on the beach, however you might have to walk a quarter mile to finally find the ocean. Our home is only steps away from the ocean. It is truly a gem. A little information on our home: just read our reviews. We take pride in and appreciate what our guests have said.

Wonderful vacation house
This is a fantastic house! It is on the smaller side but it doesn't feel that way on the inside. Big windows on the back with perfect views of the beach. The house was equipped with everything we needed including camp chairs, marshmallow sticks, fully stocked kitchen (seriously, fully stocked!), travel guides with activities close by and even a bottle of wine!
Dave and Dee were very helpful and prompt.
I'd stay here ten more times!
An amazing value and beautiful home!
We have rented this location more than once and definitely will return again. This beach house feels like home! It is beautiful and the owners have been so thoughtful in the things they provide for your comfort during your stay. I have severe arthritis and truly appreciate the sturdy steps down to the beach. The kitchen has pretty much anything you could need. The comfy beds and cozy throws are a bonus. The view can not be beat! Thank you for everything you provide. It is always a wonderful and relaxing stay!
Beautiful light and airy home on the beach
We were delighted to walk through the door of this house to find a wall of windows framing the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The 3 bedroom house is tastefully decorated, comfortable and the house was spotless. We had an unexpected day of sunshine and walked for miles on the beautiful beach. We wished clamming season was open because we could have got our limit in about one square yard! The kitchen was stocked nicely with everything necessary to whip up a meal. Waking up to the glorious view of the ocean from the master bedroom was heavenly. Our two nights in Moclips simply wasn't enough--but we regretfully left to explore the Olympic Penninsula. If we find ourselves in this area again, this is DEFINITELY the place we'd stay!
Exactly what we needed
As a break from the busyness, our family took a break here for a couple of days. It was a nice retreat, perfect amount of space for 4. The view is wonderful and access to the beach is just takes a handful of steps. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied.
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect with great Beach access. We tried to leave it as clean as we found it and will certainly consider it again in the future. Thank you David
