Two friends and I spent 4 nights in this home. In order to provide perspective on us, we are all fairly easy going, have camped and stayed at budget hotels in the past, and expect a basic level of comfort and cleanliness.

Although we felt safe and the location is convenient for walking to both Roppongi and Omotesando, we were horrified to discover that neither the photos, nor the description. provided, an honest, complete assessment of the condition of the accommodations.

The photos the owner chose to display - the bedrooms – do not accurately capture the existing conditions of those rooms. I have a number of photos to demonstrate my point, but have not found a way to include them. Most notably, the rooms are not clean. In one bedroom, the closet is not even accessible due to the location of bunkbeds (which are not shown on HomeAway). More importantly, however, I also have photos to show parts of the house not included in the Homeaway.com photos.

Once again, none of the rooms were clean and in the case of one moldy bathroom, infected with slugs on a nightly basis. It was truly disgusting. We found a plastic cup lid on the living room floor, a container of something left in the refrigerator, as well as peeling paint, hand-writing on the walls, and badly stained bamboo floor mats. The kitchen is not “spacious”. One handwritten note asked that visitors not wear shoes inside, but could use the house shoes provided. Those house shoes were beyond filthy. When it rained, the entire home smelled of mold.

The home is on an alley near a very busy street. The traffic noise was significant and easily kept us awake at night. Plus, the employees of the catering business in front of the house use the alley for their breaks, conversing loudly and smoking. Towels are provided, albeit, they are old and very, very worn.

The price was good, but we would never rent this again. If you do decide to rent it, I highly recommend earplugs, and finding another accommodation to shower and sleep in.

Although the place was clean and all the amenities worked fine, I probably would not suggest this place to others. Upon arrival and throughout our stay, nobody greeted me (us) or checked with us to make sure all was OK. There were many notes in English to explain everything which was very helpful and appreciated but the place was lacking in a lot that would make this an above OK place. Only one window had a screen which sucked because there was no way to get rid of the "wet" and insect repellant smell that prevailed throughout the place. Since the power was off when we arrive, the Fridge was not cold and by the time is was cold enough to store anything, we were finished with our stay. The upstairs toilet is a traditional Japanese type and if you are used to this then it will not bother you. We were traveling with Children and they chose not to use this toilet at all. The walk to the Station is not a terrible hike but if you want a place close to the Roppongi Station after a day of walking and being tired, then this place is not for you. If you don't mind the walk, can sleep anywhere, then this place is perfect. If you are looking for a place to totally relax after visiting beautiful Tokyo and are accustomed to three star and above places, then you might want to look elsewhere.
