Special week away at the Willow House

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay for the 4th of July week. We were a group of 3 families with young children and the house was perfect for our needs. The house is large which allowed for each family to have their own space and never feel cramped (bedrooms are separated--2 upstairs, 2 on the main level and 1 removed from the living space, which allowed for families to be on different schedules). Of note there is a wonderful "playroom" which is a separate carpeted living room from the "great room" which was so helpful to keep kids corralled during dinner preparations. We were there for a week and only left the property for the 4th of July Parade and a few meals out. The kitchen is very well appointed, including an amazing pizza oven, and the fire places both inside and out made for cozy evenings. There are so many little touches that also made the house feel more like home than a rental (e.g., soap in every bathroom, laundry detergent, magazines, pool toys, outdoor activities).

Our second night there was met with a Sub-Zero fridge that wasn't cooling properly. The owner worked with us to make a locked fridge available and Lindy arranged to have a rental fridge delivered midweek. Unfortunately, the high end appliances are hard to service in this remote location especially on a holiday weekend. Lindy and the owner were extremely gracious and took our party out to dinner to apologize for the inconvenience.

One thing to be aware of is the remote nature of this property. There was extremely limited cell service and the wi-fi internet was very slow. This was good for making most of us relax, but did pose a challenge for a few trying to squeeze in some work in during the trip.

The house has a beautiful setup and very a comfortable place to stay

  • 4 of 5

This was the second time we stay at the Willow House. The first time was in the winter in January. The 7 grandchildren and parents had plenty of room. The hill was perfect for sledding in the winter and lots of room to play and not even hear them running around. It had all the conveniences that you would want. The water pump went the first morning we were there, but decided to stay because we were all looking forward to a weekend together. Lindy was more then helpful in keeping us informed to what to do. The owner was more then gracious to extend a second weekend to us. We just took the second weekend ... all had a great time, swimming, fishing, boat, playing tennis and basketball. Would recommend Willow house to anyone!

A rare gem of a property - close to home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Willow House. We fell in love with the place last year, and booked this Memorial Day weekend a year in advance. Even though the weather didn't cooperate, we were not disappointed. The house is magnificent, and boasts a modern, large ,and very functional kitchen. The Great and Family rooms are fire place equipped, with state of the art Direct TV and Wifi. The Wifi Sonos system is the icing on the cake for ambiance.

Lindy, the Property manager, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Any questions before , during, or after our stay were immediately addressed. She is a pleasure to work with. Last year, my only criticism was the lack of a hair blower in the bathroom. Sure enough , one was found in each bathroom this year.

The dogs loved romping the 100 acres and swimming in the lake. We enjoyed the boating , and hiked nearby Willowemoc Wild Forest, a NYS park with beautiful trails. The Catskill Brewery and Brandenburg Pastry Shop in nearby Livingston Manor are highly recommended. We actually made the 9 mile round trip on foot one day! Our feet hurt, but we were able to recuperate poolside once we returned to Willow House:) Tennis racquets and balls are provided and the basketball and tennis courts are equipped with night lighting.

We love traveling with our adult kids and the family dogs. Willow House is the perfect property for our needs.

We will definitely be coming back, again and again.

Absolutely beautiful

  • 5 of 5

7 of us came here for a work retreat to simply relax and it was perfect. The house and entire property are beautiful. So many activities to do, and also nearby some world class fly fishing spots. Will definitely come back next year if possible.
