|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
See more details and photos on my website: http://four-winds-niagara.myvr.com/h We would love to welcome you to our slice of heaven -- a 10,000 square foot, 10 bedroom "Big Chill" house overlooking the beautiful Niagara River. It has gardens galore, river access, a tennis court and a large heated swimming pool, all on 7 acres and over 350 feet of riverfront on the lower Niagara River in Western New York. Formerly a day's carriage ride from Buffalo (now 30 minutes by car), the house was built in 1916 by one of our ancestors as a summer retreat. It has been updated over the years (including central air-conditioning throughout) but retains all the charm of an old country estate. There's lots to do in the area, including amazing Niagara Falls, but the property itself is a peaceful and rejuvenating place to spend time -- perfect for reunions with family and friends.
Four Winds far surpassed the expectations of our 16 guests, ranging in age from 7 to 75. The house was spacious, immaculate, and there was a separate quarters off the kitchen where my daughters' family, including 5 boys, stayed and had complete privacy. There were many outdoor patios and the pool and tennis court were pristine. The attic playroom was huge and the boys were well entertained there. Duncan was always available to address any questions or concerns. The kitchen and appliances were state of the art. Bedrooms and living spaces were decorated beautifully with many antiques that highlighted the history of the estate. Bikes were available for rides into the quaint villages of Youngstown and Lewistown. Kids and adults loved visiting nearby Niagara Falls. We also saw a concert at the Art Park in Lewistown and attended a jazz festival there. Four Winds definitely set the bar by which all our future vacations will be judged. We definitely plan on returning in the future.
What a Pleasurable Vacation with a great balance of things to do for people of all ages and different hobbies ! When the days activities away from Four Winds at Niagara Falls National Park or one of the local Golf Courses were done, the Pool, Game Room, Tennis Court, the Dock, A Quiet Patio or Porch was the perfect place to come Home to for a relaxing late afternoon and evening. The Fully Appointed Kitchen had every Item & utensil anyone cooking for a large group would ever need and the large gas grill allowed us to cook food for 18 people with everything done and ready to eat all at the same time. The large Dining Room allowed all of us to gather together and enjoy Game Nights with our favorite beverages which included Wines from the numerous local New York Wineries. The House was Spotless, Linens were Clean, Mattresses Comfortable, Bathrooms Clean & Recently Remodeled & Kathy & Duncan were accommodating beyond belief with tips on where and when to go to the attractions to avoid long lines and traffic. This is our third time renting a large property with the same group for our Family Vacation and while the other 2 Houses also were five star Houses, Upon leaving everyone commented "Four Winds Niagara Was The Best Vacation House Yet & this will be tough to beat with the next Vacation House". Thank You Kathy & Duncan for helping us have a memorable Vacation at your lovely Home !
This is an amazing home and was ours for a week this August for our family reunion. There were 23 of us with an age range from 18months to 80! Some of us flew in from the UK and other family members live just across the border in Toronto and surrounding areas. We could not have chosen a better location to catch up and spend our perfect week together. Despite the number of us we never felt crowded there was always space to find a quite spot. The kids loved the pool, games room and had plenty of space to run off steam in the stunning grounds. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were able to cook for us all and had everything we needed. Kathy and Duncan were fabulous hosts and we knew where they were if we needed anything. They even indulged the tourist in me and arranged for the stars and stripes flag on the front of the house. One of the highlights was sharing Four Winds with the nesting eagles, there is nothing like an early morning swim with eagles flying overhead. For us it was a dream holiday and we made lots of lovely memories. Hopefully we will make it back again soon. Thank you.
We enjoyed every minute of our family vacation at Four Winds. This property truly entertained all 20 of us, teenagers to adults. Before heading out to one of the numerous activities off property, we spent our mornings together enjoying the beautiful gardens, watching the forever changing river, or observing the variety of wild birds, including bald eagles! As evening approached, we gathered together again at the pool, or the game room. An absolutely wonderful and magical place.
Everything was perfect. The house was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed all of the porches and patios every day. The landscaping was immaculate. There were 17 of us ranging in age from 6 to 72 plus a Golden Retriever. Everyone swam and lounged by the pool. The tennis court also got a lot of use. The kids loved the game room and were there every day. There were walking and biking trails from the house. It was great to be so close to town, but still feel like we were secluded. We visited Fort Niagara, Lockport, Niagara Falls, and made several trips to Lewiston. Duncan and Kathy were great hosts. They provided everything and more. We loved it so much, we are hoping to return next year. Highly, highly, highly recommended!!
Everything we hoped for and more. Nothing less than perfection. Kathy was wonderful to work with and Duncan was most gracious as a host. There were 17 of us from 6 to 72 and we all agreed it was our best vacation ever. The house is breathtakingly beautiful and the grounds are exquisite--not to mention the in-ground heated pool and the tennis court. We were so impressed with the antiques and the history of this magnificent estate. We even had a bald eagle family living on the property! Some of us played the Steinway (what a sound!) and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the game room and the workout room. And the porches--oh my. We felt pampered and relaxed like never before. We can't wait to return to Four Winds Niagara.
See more details and photos on my website: http://four-winds-niagara.myvr.com/h Getting There: The property is a manageable, if long, day's drive from Chicago, the Eastern Seaboard, Virginia, central North Carolina and most of Eastern Canada. If one is flying, the property is about 40 minutes from the Buffalo-Niagara Falls International Airport with its rental car counters about 100 yards from baggage claim. It's one of the easiest airports in America to get in and out of.Local Attractions: There is an incredible number of things to do in the area, from cultural and historical to sports and recreation. Here are just a few, all within a half-hour drive: * Niagara Falls - One of the seven natural wonders of the world, Niagara Falls is just 10 miles away. If you've never seen it, you must. It is incredible and there are plenty of things to do there, foremost among them the "Maid of the Mist" boat ride that takes you to the very mouth of the Falls. In addition to gambling and restaurants they showcase big-name entertainment on a regular basis. * Villages of Lewiston and Youngstown - Our house is almost exactly in between two small villages -- Lewiston and Youngstown. Each are less than 3 miles away. Lewiston is the larger of the two and was voted one of the top 10 small towns in America in an on-line poll by USA Today and Rand McNally.
