We had a fine stay at this home. It needs a good overall cleaning and updating of general maintenance issues but the owners are very great to work with and assured us that they will take care of some of the minor issues. A few things to note, it is a very unique house with step downs throughout the entire home and seems to have once been a pet friendly home. We purchased air fresheners to help with the smell. The kitchen is very nice and updated along with the washer and dryer. It is a big house and worked fine for our family. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs with a living area and then there are two bedrooms and 2.5 baths downstairs with a living area. We rode the metro into the city every day and that worked great. We chose to drive and park at the metro garage but it is possible to walk from the house to the bus stop to catch the metro as well.
Great location, spacious
This was a great place to stay while on my family vacation. The home is in a great location and was able to accommodate my family of 11. There were some minor hiccups with the shower not draining in one bathroom and the shower door/door handles coming off in the other two. Overall, we were able to make long lasting family memories in this house. Thank you Stella and Amy for having us!
Spacious for the whole family
We had a nice stay overall. I echo previous comments about some of the dated-ness of the property and the temperature changes between upstairs and down, but we put the kids upstairs and they didn't seem to mind. This place has plenty of space for a lot of people to stay. My only recommendations would be some printed instructions for the TV. It took awhile to navigate all the remotes for the downstairs TV and we could not get either of the upstairs TV's to work at all. It would also be nice to have new towels in the bathrooms and new pillows and the current supply of both is very old and used. The linens and beds were nice otherwise. The location is perfect for the metro access. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will likely return.
Great location to DC by Metro
The house is located in a nice neighborhood with grocery stores and restaurants close by. It was great to accommodate multiple families with the 5 bedrooms. We were not there enough to cook but it had what was needed for a simple meal. It was easy and no hassle to access. Book early because it does not stay vacant long. We booked in Jan for a June trip. Stella responds immediately if you have a need or a question.
Read reviews carefully to make sure this fits your needs. The house is large and two story. Three of the bedrooms and two of the baths are upstairs. One of the bedrooms is in a renovated attic space with the typical slanted ceiling which is low enough on both sides of the bed that it requires ducking. There is a good ten degree difference in temperature between upstairs and down stairs. Our family of 9 got used to it, and found it a minor inconvenience. Downstairs is a nice master bedroom with en suite bath and king size bed. All other beds are queen. The second downstairs bedroom also has a bathroom and there is a half bath off the entry. The kitchen has a large fridge and is adequately equipped. Plenty of dishes and flatware. It could use more dishrags and dish towels. In fact, bath towels were in short supply with 12 towels provided for nine people. Dunn Loring Metro station is 1.8 miles away and will get you anywhere in DC. Allow about 45 minutes to get to the National Mall.
The owners checked on us after arrival and were nice to work with. We enjoyed our stay and the house suited our needs, for the price. You trade some commute time for the lower price. There are plenty of restaurants around the metro stop, as well as Harry Teeters and CVS.
Stayed for 4 nights for the Ride of the Patriots and Rolling Thunder. Had a wonderful time and our stay here was the perfect place. Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.
