Overview

Kona Coast Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

IMAGINE unwinding completely in a quiet and private country setting 10 minutes from the best snorkeling reef on the island.

You're tucked away, well off the road, by an easily accessed lane that brings you to your tropical sanctuary complete with lush gardens and sounds of nature.

The ohana offers ocean views and feelings of expansiveness. Spotlessly clean and supremely comfortable, including new furnishings, a king size bed, and everything you'll need to relax and enjoy. Wi-fi is included when you want to be connected!

The bamboo and redwood hot/cold outdoor shower area surrounded by lush tropical plants that provide privacy and beauty is a treat to experience after a day of play. (There is a hot/cold shower within the unit also)

The 2.4 acre farm is nestled at an 800 foot elevation on the lush and breezy slopes between Kealakekua Bay and Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Park (City of Refuge)in the midst of the Kona coffee and farming belt. Our orchard includes 19 different varieties of fruit trees, as well as many unusual tropical plants and an organic vegetable garden. In true Hawaiian spirit, we love to share the fruits of the land as they are available.

We are located 30 minutes south of Kailua-Kona, through the mountain towns of Kainaliu, Kealakekua and Captain Cook in the up-country area of South Kona. A grocery store, favored by locals, is only 15 minutes up the hill. Restaurants, a natural food store and shopping are also close by.

They call it the BIG ISLAND for a reason! We are a couple of hours from Volcano National Park and a perfect base location for those who want to go exploring.

About Stacey Himmel

For over 30 years, I have felt deeply connected to the Hawaiian islands and Hawaiian culture and knew that South Kona was my true place. With a desire for a more sustainable lifestyle, I set about to relocate to the Big Island and find a farm where I could manifest my long held desires. I am an artist and farmer who enjoys swimming, yoga and listening to the incredible array of nature's sounds that abound on this property.

Stacey Himmel purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Stacey Himmel chose Kona Coast

The swimming and snorkeling spots closest to the property are some of the best on the island. On special occasions, I have swum with the spinner dolphin pods that visit those places.

What makes this apartment unique

The on-site art studio combined with the Hawaiian plant and animal life inspire a sense of creativity, reflection and well-being. I enjoy sharing the beauty, spirit and my knowledge of this area with our visitors who inevitably leave more relaxed, enriched and wanting to return!

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

First trip to Hawaii ,came here to possibly move here in a couple years when I retire. I wanted a more local place instead of a hotel .. Found the perfect place on Stacys and Tony's property . Great location beaches and stores within a half hours drive . Very quiet setting ,neighbours very quiet turn out to be a very relaxing and non-stressful stay . Most of time I didn't know if anybody was even on the property . If I can find property half as nice as Stacy's and Tony's when I moved here in a couple years I'll be very happy five stars aloha

A truly fantastic experience

  • 5 of 5

We are so grateful to Tony and Stacey for sharing their farm and creating wonderful memories that we will cherish for a life time.

Ohana is a lovely space to relax in after a full day of adventuring around the area. The apartment is beautifully decorated with everything you could need. In the morning we would enjoy fresh fruits from the farm, local Kona coffee and revitalize in the outdoor shower. The location is great for quickly being able to explore the area; the national park, coast line, plantations and local stores are all within 15 minute drive.

Coming home at the end of a day felt like you were returning to your own private part of paradise. The beautiful plants, trees and scented flowers were just lovely.

We were so lucky on our vacation to have had so many wonderful experiences but a highlight has to be the snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay. If the accessibility of the reef, the clear cool water and vivid colors we’re not enough the chance to swim with a pod of dolphins was amazing and unforgettable.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts. Tony your kindness and generosity made our stay so very special. Anthony & Christy

Truly Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Better than advertised. Beautiful property in a nice quiet and private secluded spot but yet it was very close to some of the best things to do on the island. The ohana was very clean and comfy. It had everything you could possibly need and it was very well maintained. Tony and Stacey thought of everything and they were the best owners we have meet yet. They are there if you need something but yet they gave us complete privacy. I asked them to show me around the farm and they were just amazing and wonderful. The fruit Tony gave us was plentiful, onoliscious and greatly appreciated . I also asked about stuff in the area and they were extremely helpful. They made us feel like Kamaaina. If we ever get back to the big island we would defiantly love to stay here again. The Aloha spirit is most certainly alive. Mahalo Nui Loa Tony and Stacey we are now ohana.

Me ka aloha pumehana.

A relaxing get away.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 3 days to celebrate our anniversary.

We live on the other side of the Big Island so it was an easy trip.

The fruit was amazing. The biggest mango I have ever seen.

Very, very clean place. Everything was there to meet our needs.

Tony was a generous and kind host.

Thanks so much with providing us a beautiful home away from home.

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This place is as described and more. The bounty of fresh fruit we had was practically embarrassing - white pineapple, mango, papaya, bananas... we made sumptuous smoothies each day from orchards we were delighted to stroll. It was perfectly located for our main interests - a trip to the volcanic national park and snorkeling. The rental is well-appointed with thoughtful touches everywhere including a binder with incredible maps and details for restaurants, beaches, shopping, sight-seeing, etc. The outdoor shower is heaven. The bed was comfy. The hosts were marvelous. Though we never really saw them except for check in, they were responsive and quick to share MORE fruit as well as good vibes and advice throughout our stay. Aloha Spirit was spotless, quiet, secluded and well, perfect. We would definitely stay again (and wish were still there now!)

Wonderful secluded retreat

  • 5 of 5

Delightful hosts, Tony and Stacey were welcoming and helpful. Tons of fresh fruit that we ate at almost every meal. Tony gave us some great tips on site seeing in the area.

The house has great access to the highway as well as being very close to wonderful snorkeling at two-step. We also were able to take a short drive over to the trail head that leads to Captain Cook's memorial (which we would highly recommend). One night we took a very short drive over to the Sheraton for an excellent sunset meal. Kailua Kona is also very close by, but far enough away that you are in a much more secluded and calm environment.

The outdoor shower was amazing. Very private and excellent setting among the plants. At night it was also great since they have some really nice lighting set up for it.

Property was very clean and well maintained. Appliances were good and we were able to do almost all of our own cooking.

We would definitely recommend this property to our friends. It's especially good if you love the outdoors and being close to nature.
