Tunbridge House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

As a romantic getaway, a writer's retreat, or a busy family's headquarters for adventure, Sunnyside is just right for your mountain escape. You'll want to return every season! Sunnyside is a 4-acre private property with a 3-bedroom, cedar-sided home perched high above the quaint and historic village of Tunbridge, VT. Tunbridge is best known for the annual Tunbridge World's Fair in September, the Tunbridge Store with a full deli and many local food items, and the 4 picturesque covered bridges that attract tourists from all over the world. Regardless of the season, there is much to do! Summer fun includes river tubing on the White River just down the road, swimming in many local swimming holes, hiking for all skill levels, and antiquing opportunities in every direction. We are on the route that many recommend for experiencing optimal foliage beauty in the fall and the property is surrounded by hills covered in vibrant color at that time of year. We are in close proximity to many skiing areas including Killington and Stowe and sledding, skating, and cross-country skiing are right out the back door or less than 5 minutes away. Popular destinations such as Quechee Gorge, Woodstock, Hanover, NH (home of Dartmouth College), and the Appalachian Trail are all within 30 minutes of the property.

Though activities for all ages abound, R & R is also found here. If you are looking to simply watch the sun rise over the village from the deck with a hot cup of coffee in the morning, cross the open sky while you enjoy a nap in the hammock in the afternoon, set into the hills to the west while you roast marshmallows around an open fire, then make way for the moon and the stars to dazzle you into the night, then this is the place for you.

Our home has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 5 comfortably with one queen bed in one room, bunk beds in another, and a single bed in the third room. All rooms are freshly painted and beautifully decorated with nature as their inspiration. The full bathroom has been recently renovated in soft, soothing hues. The great room has an open floor plan that includes an eat-in kitchen and a living room that opens out to the front deck and a spectacular view of the valley. The rear deck includes a new furniture set for dining al fresco and surrounds guests with lush gardens and birdsong in the summer, fall, and spring. The finished basement is perfect for watching movies, playing board games, and just hanging out after a long adventurous day of fun.

Great spot for a family getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We visit the area every year. This year we were lucky enough to find this property close to the Tunbridge World's Fair. The house itself is up the hill and about one mile from the fair. The house has 3 bedrooms and one bath. A little small for multiple adults as there is only one large bed. The single bed and bunk beds would be perfect for kids. The kitchen and living room are cozy. There is plenty of outdoor seating including a patio with dining area and a fire pit with chairs. Absolutely perfect for enjoying the beautiful mountain air. The location is central to a lot of the more populated areas and about a 30 minute drive to grocery shopping. If you have babies or small children be aware that the cleaning is surface only so you may want to do a thorough cleaning before letting them explore. The downstairs basement has a living area with couch and table, but needed some fresh air to enjoy. Don't hesitate to rent this house, it was a perfect home for our long weekend. The owner requires very little for check in and check out and is very fast & responsive with communication and safety deposit return! Thank you Gail, we enjoyed your home very much.

Great house and location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wedding in near by Chelsea. This house was perfect for our group of 4 adults. We had a lot of wedding activities so our time at the house was limited to the evening, what a great view of the night sky. The house only has one bathroom so that was a bit hard getting ready w 3 females but it's workable. The owners are wonderful. I would highly recommend this location pretty easy to find.

Great home off the main roads!

  • 5 of 5

The house was located perfectly for traveling around the area. The house was like being at home, but much quieter and a much better view. Would rent this home again next time in Vermont. If you have a dog this home is great, with lots of playful dogs in the neighborhood.

Delightful

  • 5 of 5

We were three woman taking a 4 day class in Bethel VT with Celie Fago. This home was perfect for us. We arrived to a sweet bouquet of flowers on the kitchen island. We also were given plenty of phone numbers to call should we have any problem. Although the kitchen was convenient, well stocked and clean, we ate most often at the Five Olde Tavern and Grille in South Royalton which was on our way home from class. The house does not have central air but fans in all the bedrooms worked just great for those crisp Vermont evenings. The hill top house offers a lovely view of the village of Tunbridge. We also got a kick out of crossing the covered bridge going to and from class. We enjoyed coming back to this quiet retreat every evening. The yard is very private with the exception of a little house wren who entertained us, flying back and forth in search of food for the family on the birdhouse on the deck. Phone reception was not great (we didn't care) but the WiFi is strong and fast. I would most definitely book this house again. We had a wonderful time!

Beautiful Vermont Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of five people. The house is very cozy and had enough room for everyone in our party. The bedrooms were relatively small and the beds except for the master bedroom fit only one person. One bathroom for the three bedrooms was a bit of a squeeze but with some planning it worked out. Gail is really great! She responded promptly to all of our requests. If you're looking for peace and quiet in beautiful Vermont look no further! Money well spent.
