Thank you Marc. We had a lovely reunion with our family! Four flying from the UK and the others from NY and CT. We thoroughly enjoyed having the pool and tennis court, the kayaks, the creek. We went to Hyannis and took a boat out, a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. A golf day out for the boys.Everything was very easy. And there was so much to keep everyone busy
So thinking about our 2018 reunion....
Thank you again. Just great!
For context: we were a three generational family: two grandparents in 50s, 6 children with spouses in 20/30s a toddler and baby - gathering from all over the country.
The house is very spacious, well laid out and clean. The layout is open plan with a big sitting area, dining room (with seating for all) and a big, and very well equipped (I'm told!), kitchen. The bedrooms are spacious and well laid out with one of the upstairs rooms also housing a mini-pool table and an extensive library of kids videos.
The pool - directly outside the kitchen/dining room through sliding doors and down two steps on the big wooden deck is big and very clean. Extra bonus points for the arbor and hammock over-looking the pool. A big grill out on the deck was more than adequate for feeding all of us, plus a good sized outdoor table.
The tennis court is a 50 yard walk through the woods. It's shared but we never had to wait and I only saw it used by anyone else once. A little further on is the dock with a canoe and multiple (4?) kayaks. Everyone had at least one trip paddling down underneath the road bridge and along to the little spit-beach.
Best of all there are tennis rackets & balls, plus all the necessary for paddling canoes/kayak in the garage - along with multiple bikes of various sizes - from kids up to at least medium sized adults. The basement also houses a ping-pong table with the necessary balls & bats.
There aren't very many of these, but
The house is quiet secluded and most activities - with the exception of those listed under pros, e.g. the beach, require a short car journey (~10 mins). The converse of course is there is no late noise from bars, restaurants, cars etc.
One of our party (who was very pregnant) complained she found the mattress hard, and wished there had been a pillow-top that she could have added.
We never met Marc but did have occasion to exchange texts and phone calls when we discovered a large hornets nest in a tree close to the pool / outdoor table. He was very attentive and got the nest removed promptly, so no complains there. Also the security deposit was refunded very promptly - almost before we had left the Cape.
I'd certainly recommend this property to friends/relatives and there is a high likelihood we will return again soon.
We stayed at the Osprey House for a week in late July. Our party included 4 kids and 4 adults. We all loved the house and all it had to offer. The pool was used every day and enjoyed thoroughly by all of us. We also used the kayaks and paddle boards almost daily and loved the opportunity to experience the outstanding natural setting of Waquoit Bay. The home's location was perfect as we had never been to Cape Cod and tried to see as much of it as possible. We spent much time in downtown Falmouth which is a fun place to stroll and shop. We also made it to a Cape Cod League Baseball game and had a great time. We enjoyed the local seafood and lots of ice cream!! We also made it to a play at the Rep Theater in Brewster. We made day trips to Newport, Boston, and Provincetown. All were not too long of drives from the house. The layout worked perfectly for our group. The outdoor shower was awesome as was the jacuzzi tub. Thank you Marc and family for letting us stay in your beautiful home. Also thank you for the gift bag full of treats when we arrived and the binder of information on the area. If we come back to this area we will definitely stay in Osprey House again!!
We stayed for a week at the end of July. Just a bit of rain for an hour or so one afternoon. The kitchen area is huge and has every type of pan, dish and glass you will need. Enen a slow cooker and one of the largest lobster pots I've ever seen. The beds in all four rooms were extremely comfortable. This may sound strange, but the toilets were so quiet one could barely hear the flush!
The deck area was sunny in the morning and shaded by the house in the afternoon. Nice! We had several very young children with us for a few nights so it was a plus that there was only one entrance to the deck/pool area through a glass slider (with a lock). This was a HOT week and the central AC worked beautifully. One zone downstairs and a seperate zone for the upstairs bedrooms. The house makes good use of strategically located skylights for an abundance of natural lighting. Many of the light switches are on dimmers. The first floor featured an open floor plan which made it easy to keep the toddlers in view. Huge dining room table (easily seat 10) and padded chairs. Wifi worked perfectly even with several people on line at the same time. Pool water temp was a constant 84 degrees with sparkling clear water.
I would highly recommend this home to anyone would rent it again in a heartbeat!
My husband and I and our 5 mostly adult children, had a wonderful time at Osprey House. The home is very spacious and well kept. I found everything to keep our brood fed for the week. I wish there were larger skillets and a griddle. I made due with a 10" pan, but I had to cook in batches for my hungry bunch. A griddle would've been nice to make pancakes, but we used the waffle iron which I REALLY liked. I may have to buy that same one for myself.
The dock to the water seems like a bit of a hike. But my boys kayaked 3-4 times when we were there and even rescued a gentleman whose small catamaran had flipped over. Right time/right place.
The home itself was very comfortable. Unfortunately during our stay, the pool needed to be shocked and that put us out of it for a day. That was disappointing considering it was a very hot 90* day. The owner was very apologetic and compensated us with $50 for the inconvenience. I would definitely recommend this home to others for their stay.
This property was first class all the way! It is in a great location and there are even more amenities and activities than are listed. The owner went above and beyond to make our first visit to Cape Cod the very best it could be.
Located with direct access to Waquoit Bay, 500 foot walk to dock. Short Paddle by canoe/kayak or short drive (less than a mile) to small beach. Many more beaches located nearby 10-20 minute drive depending which beach you choose.
