|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
This is the home for the couple that wants to feel like they are a million miles away in total privacy yet close to everything.
Please know that this home can be rented with the 6 bedroom/6 bath 'Blackthorne' (Home Away 338956. VRBO 323070) for a total of 7 bedroom 7 baths.
The cabin enjoys absolute privacy as it is located at the very end of a not-a-through street on 2 private acres that feel like 1000 acres as you are surrounded by National Park. The home is located in the easy-to-get-to flat area of Point Reyes (not way back up some long, winding road) yet elevated in the treetops, making it very sunny and bright with panoramic views of the National Park. Though you feel like you are a million miles away, you are conveniently only 1 mile from downtown Point Reyes with it’s fine dining and shops, 2 miles from the village of Inverness, 12 minutes from world class ocean beaches and one-hour from San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge and the Napa/Sonoma wine country.
The cabin is in as-new condition with a well-thought out design and furnishings by Robin Barnato of San Anselmo’s Studio Home Designs.
The home has a large, wrap around deck with panoramic, treetop views, a gas fireplace, flat screen TV that tilts toward the living room or bedroom, high speed wifi, phone with unlimited calling in the US and Canada, gas Bar BQ and an ipod player. Guests are also provided with tennis racquets and tennis balls and the key to a private tennis court 2 miles away.
If having a true getaway-from-it-all experience that is not far away is what you are looking for, please contact me as I’d be delighted to have you.
My name is Robert Galliani. I am a 3rd generation San Franciscan. My wife of 26 years and I have three children ages 18, 21 and 23. We happily and very fortunately live in a beautiful place called Marin County California where our lives are intertwined and revolve around our children.
Robert Galliani and Belinda Meadows purchased this house in 2013
Absolute privacy is so hard to find. We're delighted to own this very charming and warm cabin located in such a spectacular setting yet 1-hour from San Francisco.
The home makes you feel like you are a million miles away, yet it's close in. Being elevated in the treetops makes the home sunny and warm. I have never liked dark places. This is the opposite as it is bright and sunny with amazing views.
The cabin is clean and nice but it is small. I would say two people max. The setting is unbelievable and we loved all the windows. Out heat didn't work for two of the three days but it wasn't a huge deal. The location and setting is what you are really paying for and it is worth it.
We stayed here several nights. Highly recommended.
This cabin is a gem, originally built maybe a century ago. There are
beautiful details from the original: generous metal-framed windows;
hinges on the front door worthy of a celtic chapel; metal window
latches that look handmade; the warm hardwood floor (redwood?);
turquoise tile at the base of the fireplace.
Whoever sited this cabin had a good eye. The morning sun comes
right in the windows.
Everything has been brought up to date.
There is a generous deck on two sides overlooking the forest, held up
by a modern foundation. Here's what we heard: water running in the
creek; one garbage truck; two airplanes. That's it. It was that
peaceful (and I'm an audio guy).
The kitchen has modern appliances. Heat is from the gas fireplace
insert. We didn't watch TV but it works as described. Electricity is
generous, no fuses below. Internet speed is perfectly adequate. The
tennis gear was as described. The washer + dryer are out back but
easily accessible. We had 1 bar Verizon service but the wireless was
very strong for messaging. The owners were prompt in responding to our
We will be back!
My husband and I have stayed here before and loved it! Our second trip was as good - if not better - and again, exceeded our expectations. The cabin is spotless and has everything you need in a small cozy space. We had several days of light rain that added to the peacefulness and the fireplace place kept the cabin at the perfect temperature. The market down the street has great food and a nice little area to sit in and have a quick bite and a drink. I highly recommend this property when you need to unplug, get away from the world and recharge. Thank you Robert for maintaining such an amazing property!
The cottage has an awesome deck. It is at the end of the road so no neighbors on one side. It was very clean upon arrival. The bed was average on comfort level. The shower is large, but the water pressure and flow of hot water is very sensitive. There is no central heat or air or ceiling fans. The house is warmed by a gas fireplace when needed. The location is excellent for venturing into the town of Point Reyes Station, hiking, and the beaches. The JVC TV was superb and the internet was fast enough for vacationing. There is no Verizon cell phone coverage here. Enjoyed the stay.
This is the perfect cabin for a couple or even two friends traveling together. Beautifully furnished with everything one would need. The setting feels secluded - it is very quiet, with redwoods surrounding the deck - and yet it is right up the road from a market and restaurants in Inverness Park, as well as a short ride to Point Reyes Station. If I lived in San Francisco or nearby, I would use it as a frequent getaway. Great communication with the owner, the cabin is as lovely as the pictures but it feels even better once you are in the actual environment. Especially the deck and the woods. We have already told our friend in Santa Rosa and we will be back ourselves, specifically to stay in that cabin again. The Pt. Reyes area has so many beautiful places to walk/hike. The visitor center should be a starting point (and it's close to the cabin), and the area is quintessential California vistas of hills, trees and water, especially looking across Tomales Bay on the ride to the Lighthouse Road. Fabulous.
My husband and I loved our stay, it was hard to leave. It is so great to be able to find such a treasure close to home. The cabin is so delightful - the decorations and furnishings, the expansive deck, the setting! The property feels so secluded as though you are right in the forest, so private. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, and found a wonderful bakery in Point Reyes Station. We spent a couple days hiking, and it was great to return to this cozy cabin at the end of each hike! Robert made all communication so easy, and quickly mailed a forgotten item back to me. Thank you!
Across the street from the Point Reyes National Seashore. Minutes from Tomales Bay swimming beaches and Ocean beaches. 100,000 acres of hiking trails.
