About the property

Family friendly townhome, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Our garden townhome is a two story, end unit with a very private spacious feel and a spectacular ocean view just steps away. The upstairs master bedroom features a king size bed, private bath, TV, wireless internet and two private lanai’s (decks) facing south east and north west. On the main floor is the living room with a flat screen TV, dining room, laundry, kitchen and the second bedroom with twin beds which can convert to a king size bed.

A covered ground floor lanai opens directly onto the lush tropical green belt of Poipu Kai, offering easy access to the Poipu Kai Tennis and Swim Club, Brennekes Beach and Poipu Beach. About Deborah Brandt

My husband and I currently live on the west coast. Our two boys are grown up now so we try to get over to the island every chance we get. Unfortunately, we still work and it's hard to get away.

Deborah Brandt purchased this townhome in 2011

Why Deborah Brandt chose Kauai

We have been bringing our children to Poipu Kai for over 20 years and decided to finally buy our own home in the very place we made all those happy memories.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Definitely a 5 star condo

  • 5 of 5

We stayed there for 9 nights with another couple and hated to leave. We agree with all the other reviews so I'll try to build on them for someone looking at possible places to rent. First, you are on the South Shore, so in the winter the weather is much better (although the big, picturesque waves are on the North Shore, so is a lot of rain). Second, it is about 20 to 40 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. Third, we stayed in the smaller, ground floor bedroom with the twin beds pushed into a king. As an earlier reviewer noted, that does leave the bedstand on one side of the bed, but that never bothered us, and when the put the twin beds together, they put a king-sized memory foam pad on top and it is very comfortable. There is a big closet in the room and a chest of drawers, so there is plenty of storage space. The bathroom is across the hall rather than ensuite, but hey, it's not big deal, and it's a nice bathroom. Fourth, this condo is spacious, bigger than it looks in the pictures. We never felt like we were bumping into one another. Fifth, there are only a few condos building that face out onto the green space and have the nice open view, the rest of the Poipu Kai resort's building are nice, but just have more limited views. You can't quite see the ocean from inside the unit, but if you take two steps off the lanai you can watch the sunset each night. We liked that a lot. Sixth, the owner and the local person who takes care of the property are really responsive and responsible. This place is furnished and decorated very nicely, and if you have suggestions for making it even better, they are listening. Kitchen is great and well equipped. We had planned on eating more dinners out, but loved cooking in so much we ended up doing that all but 3 nights. It is a quick drive into Koloa town to the Big Save grocery store. They have reasonable prices and great specials. This is a ground floor condo with easy entry. Master bedroom is upstairs. It is huge, with a bonus space where you can work on your novel (or spreadsheets if you have to) and two separate balconies facing in two different directions. Overkill, but in a good way. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Kauai.

Fabulous! This was a perfect location for us.

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with the condo. It had everything we possibly needed to enjoy our stay there. A lovely spacious condo with stunning sunset views every night just outside on the lanai. The location was steps away from two pools, the beach and the tennis club. What more could you ask for. The tennis courts are so close that I ended up signing up for tennis clinics for 2 weeks. Aaron Tada, the tennis coach has a great teaching structure and really helped me get back into the game of tennis. Thank you to Deborah, the owner who was quick to answer all my emails and helpful and accommodating where we needed it. A wonderful 14 days. We will definitely be back here again soon.

Condo needs updating

  • 3 of 5

We have stayed at this exact condo for multiple years. This time, we noticed that many things need updating and cleaning. In particular, the living room furniture and carpets are in dire need of replacement or, at a minimum, shampooing. The furniture fabric is sticky and I am sure many people have been seating there sweating with sunscreen residue. The chairs felt so gross, we used beach towels the whole time to cover the chairs. The patio furniture had not been cleaned prior to our arrival There was bird poop all over the chairs and table, so we never used them (no cleaner provided in the condo).

Also, it would help if cleaning supplies were provided (Windex, 409, sponges/rags). With the majority of the tables being glass it would be nice to have ample supplies of glass cleaner and paper towels or rags. We had to contact the condo management to get more paper towels and toilet paper as not enough was supplied. We rented the condo for eight days and it would be nice if enough staples are provided for the length of stay.

Given all that, the condo is in a fantastic location - a quick easy walk to the pool, beach and tennis courts. Also, the management was very responsive to our request for more paper towels and toilet paper.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We strive to keep the condo very clean as most reviews point out, but it sounds like you may have gotten a new housekeeper who did not do the usual thorough job. When I was there in May, the carpet and upholstery were very clean. Even though the carpet is 6 years old and the fabric on the living room furniture only 3 years old, we clean both several times per year. I have forwarded your suggestions to my island manager and she definitely will address these issues. Calling the manager about any issue immediately is always recommended.

Great find!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the property with my husband and 2 small children in April of 2017. The location is beautiful and very convenient. Covered parking is right across from the condo. After reading the previous reviews, I was a little worried about walking to the beach. It turned out to be very short - only 3-5 min to the Poipu State Beach. The beach was awesome. Every day we saw sea turtles and monk seals. The two pools are basically right there, barely any walking required. The back patio overlooks a huge green lawn; there are no busy roads in sight, nor there is any traffic noise. The condo is older, but extremely clean. The owner must have an excellent cleaning crew! I see how the small bedroom downstairs may feel a bit cramped for two adults. There is also (allergy-sufferers' alert!) a faint moldy smell in it, which pretty quickly goes away once you turn on the ceiling fan. The upstairs master suite is extremely spacious and comfortable. My only gripe is that the bed was way too soft - it felt like I was sinking in it. Like some previous reviewers mentioned, there is quite a bit of bird noise and rooster crowing in the early morning hours. It was not a bother to us, and it is probably impossible to avoid wherever you go on Kauai given the number of stray chickens running around. The kitchen was nice and well stocked. We cooked at home half the time, and it was easy. Plan to stop by Costco on your way from the airport - the Big Save Market nearby isn't that great. Overall, we had a great time and will return again some day.
