Extremely disappointed! Wouldn't recommend!

Upon arrival you first notice the surrounding houses. Run down, broken down vehicles parked next door. The rental house is split into three separate "apartments" to rent. The house itself is old and dirty looking from the outside. We entered our unit, noticing right away the floor was never swept from the last guests. Begin to unpack and notice the water in the bathroom sink is cloudy and full of sediment. The kitchen sink water appeared okay, so we just used that one. The ad has advertised a washer and dryer in unit. The washer was "out of order" of course. Also we noticed the firealarm for the unit was detached and sitting on top of the fridge. The remote control for the one tv didn't work at all, it was busted upon arrival. On our second day (we stayed for five nights), we arrive back to the house after spending the day out. Our front door was wide open. Apparently maintenance had stopped by to fix "the pipe out back." Imagine our surprise, when the owner never notified us of any scheduled maintenance. Our third morning we are both woken up to a very large scratching noise underneath the head of the bed. It sounded as though a rather large animal was in between the first and second floor. It proceeded for a few minutes, to the point of where we began to make loud noises to scare it off. At this point we decided to text the owner and alert her of what was happening. We never heard back. We are very upset and disappointed with the house. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. The owner doesn't seem to care and couldn't even be bothered to respond back to us. Also, the picture of the bathroom she has posted isn't even the bathroom for the property. In the picture, the shower has a window, ours did not. We would love to hear back from the owner, we have taken pictures and videos of all the issues with the unit if she has any questions.

Owner's Response: To clarify we do have a brand new washer and dryer on premise. The remote control was replaced immediately. The noise made by an animal was probably a squirrel walking on the house that day. We had pest control come twice to make sure it was not something else. Our rental gets cleaned professionally after each guest. I ALWAYS respond really fast to text. The guest must have texted the wrong number. There are many million dollars home on the street, guest only focused on the only house that was old and not maintained. The area is safe and is one of Austin best residential area walking distance to Downtown. I do care as a host and owner and want to make sure every guest has a wonderful stay!

Cute unit, awesome area!

Unit B is on the second floor and plenty spacious. There is not central AC though, rather a window unit in the living room and a second unit in the huge bedroom. The bedroom has two doors so an hour before bed I'd close both doors and cool the room for optimal sleeping. The area is very safe and I loved walking to downtown (ten minute walk max) and exploring the neighborhood. There is no cable TV but free Wi-Fi and an Amazon Firestick connected to the TV for Netflix.

The unit itself was in good condition, clean and all appliances in working condition. The laundry area is in the backyard and includes a free washer and dryer, just bring your own laundry soap.

I stayed for ten nights and hated to leave! The price/value is there. The owner was responsive when I asked about parking as on 8th itself you need a permit, which isn't included, but there is tons of non permit parking on Blanco which is a minute walk. Although the VRBO has a driveway it is only feasible for one car and is on a first come basis.

My only suggestion is that table lamps be added to the bedroom and livingroom. Each room has a huge overhead light on the fan but some smaller, warmer lights would be a nice addition.

Everything we needed!

We stayed for two nights over the first weekend of ACL and it was perfect for what we needed. Each day we walked to ACL (which was an easy walk) we passed by the Whole Foods and ate - there's SO much food to choose from! The rental is a short walk from restaurants, shopping, liquor stores...anything you need! Mireille was so helpful and always available whenever I needed to reach her prior to the stay and during the stay. We were checking out on Sunday but wanted to spend the day at ACL and she allowed us to leave our vehicles parked in the driveway all day - THANK YOU! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely look here first for availability for any future trips to Austin!

Good location, problems with noise

My friends and I recently stayed in one of the units at this property during a 6 day trip to Austin and we were quite pleased with the location. It truly is in a great spot for walking, and we didn't have to rent a car during the whole week. Whole Foods was about a 5 minute walk, and we enjoyed the fact that Downtown Austin is no more than a 30 minute walk. If you're feeling hungry or want to head out for a drink or two, there's plenty of bars and restaurants all down 6th street as well. I loved the thoughtful touches around our unit. We arrived to a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate candies which was so nice, as well as a helpful binder full of information regarding our rental. There was coffee and sugar, as well as clean towels and soaps for the shower. We felt very safe and secure throughout our stay, as this home is located in a nicer neighborhood and entry requires a unique passcode.

However, there were a few things about this particular unit which explain the 3-star rating. First, although the unit itself was clean, we did notice some gross yellow stains on the sheets we used for the pullout couch bed. The unit looks like it could definitely use a little TLC overall. I believe that this property has three separate units that the owner rents out, and it's worth mentioning that although we initially booked for the 6-person unit, due to a double booking we were given the 4-person unit. This was fine, and the owner notified us well in advance, but I wanted to make that clear because the 6-person unit could be in a little better shape - I just don't know.

Another feature of our rental which was strange is that all the floors are uneven. It took about 3 or 4 days before I stopped noticing how some floors were at a slightly slanted angle. The queen bed was comfortable, but the foldout couch bed was absolutely awful to sleep on. The supporting frame dipped too low at our heads, and arched in our backs. It was like sleeping on two hills. I would definitely recommend that the owner either invest in a better couch bed or stop advertising the couch as a bed. Finally, being on the first floor, we could hear EVERYTHING that the upper unit was doing and saying. For several days, we would be awoken by very loud children screaming and jumping at 6:30 am until about 10:00 am. This is our biggest complaint. Other than that, the location was great, as well as the customer service by the owner. I would just recommend some ear plugs :)
