Located just 7-9 minutes from Teton Village, Rocking H Cabin is your perfect home-away-from-home. In the heights of comfort, step into Jackson Hole’s colorful past, rewinding time and enjoying all the West has to offer. This is a one-of-a-kind retreat: no other Jackson Hole rental property is situated on the Snake River with direct views of the Grand Teton and Sleeping Indian. With your own personal access to the Snake River dike for walking, biking or cross county skiing, you could even fly fish just steps from your back door! Enjoy drinks or a romantic dinner from your own river-view tree house suspended in the lofty boughs of a pine grove. Encounter the abundant wildlife on the river or in the woods behind the cabin. Or, using our handy Fire pit and ample seating, build a bonfire next to the Snake River and revel under a huge canopy of stars! Nothing is better than being outside in the wintertime surrounded by the forest, the Snake River and a roaring fire.
This is your opportunity to experience the West firsthand at its source. Beautifully maintained and furnished with genuine antiques from the old west, the Seaton Cabin, or as we refer to it, Rocking H Cabin has been officially acknowledged as a building of historic importance by the Teton County Historic Preservation Board. It was constructed in the early 1920’s by two of the earliest women settlers in the valley: Eliza Seaton ('Ma Seaton') and her daughter. Originally the homestead dwelling of the Bear Paw Ranch (a well-known dude ranch in the 1930’s and 40’s whose land is now part of Teton National Park), the cabin was moved by the family to its present location on the Rocking H Ranch in 1949. There it has served as home to generations of the Huyler family whose grandchildren and great-grandchildren are still owners. Jack Huyler, an elderly storyteller who in his younger years was a well-known horseman, has published two books of Jackson Hole stories. Your stay will be enhanced reading the delightful tales in your free signed copy of Huyler’s book: ‘And That’s The Way It Was In Jackson Hole’. Horses graze on the ranch’s meadows while moose, fox, deer, elk, bald eagles, ospreys and a wide variety of bird life are frequent sightings.
The cabin’s layout is ideal as a romantic retreat for two, but there is plenty of room and privacy available for the perfect large family vacation. The living room with river stone fireplace has ample seating for all. The Native American rugs and antique furnishings make you feel a part of the old west, but you can still be in contact with the contemporary world through free Wifi. The beautifully tiled and well-appointed kitchen has ample counter space and updated appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare and serve your home-cooked meals. This kitchen, dining and living area connect through a warm, dry entry hall/mudroom with a hallway that joins the three bedrooms, sleeping loft and two full bathrooms.
All the bedrooms have ample bureau and closet space and plenty of room to spread out. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed that overlooks a lovely aspen and pine woods. The family room contains a queen-sized bed, a second single bed and a woodstove with access to the loft that holds two twin beds and a window seat/reading nook. The corner bedroom has a queen-sized bed and its own private access to the woods.
The cabin’s newly-insulated original log walls seal out the cold and retain the heat in winter while being pleasantly cool in summer, while Navajo rugs on the seasoned wood floors are warm and soft underfoot. The attractive modern bathrooms are a perfect compliment to the old west ambiance of the cabin.
Rocking H Cabin is a wonderful retreat from your busy lives while you soak up the atmosphere of authentic Jackson Hole history. Create wonderful memories with your friends or loved ones with a cozy book by the fire, with adventures on the river or in the mountains or in peaceful walks in the woods, all the time with easy access to the restaurants and activities of nearby Teton Village and Jackson.

This house was just lovely and secluded. We had five adults and 5 young children and it was just perfect. I could not have asked for a better place to stay. One mile away from Teton Village and approximately 20 minutes away from Jackson.
We stayed here for Christmas week with a true winter wonderland experience! I’d recommend it for families with older kids or couples. Here is our feedback:
Nice location for seclusion
Easy 10-min drive to Teton Village
Awesome hot tub with jets & nice hot temperature
Helpful maintenance team to manage the property after a big snowfall
Quiet bedroom area with a door that closes to the family room
Separate thermostats in each room
Ample supply of firewood
Strong wi-fi signal all throughout house
Broken tub drain – no bath for kids
Old showerhead made for painful showers
Uncomfortable and ugly furniture in family room (one “couch” is a daybed). Really needs to be updated
Outdated kitchen appliances (all burners only cooked at high temp). ( basic kitchen items missing for holiday food prep...like electric mixer, meat thermometer) dishes are cracked and chipped and really look unsanitary.
No “extras” – everything is a la carte: humidifiers, crib, high chair, detergent, sled
This place has so much heart! We loved it. We spent 6 days over Thanksgiving with friends. Cozy, warm with great books to read in front of a roaring fire. We skied, chopped wood and walked along the snake river. Wonderful history and comfortable beds!
We stayed in the cabin for 8 days and it was really amazing. The location is perfect, secluded yet close to everything you want to do in Jackson. We will be back!
This property exceeded our highest expectations. Clean, comfortable, spacious -- fully equipped with all mod cons. We felt like pampered guests in this lovely home, complete with historic family memorabilia and photo albums. The ranch is surrounded by more natural beauty than we could absorb in our fabulous two-week vacation. From shopping and dining in Jackson Hole to breathtaking hikes and scenery in Grand Teton and Yellowstone, and long meandering drives and hikes to nowhere in particular--every day was perfect.
First the location in the Jackson Hole area. The cabin property has to be the best kep secret in the area. Teton Village is literally across the street for a night out and great views as well as the entrace to the national park is right there. Also a short drive to town (that you pass coming from the airport), couldn't be easier. Second the property itself. Calling it a cabin doesn't do it justice!! I get it though, sounds good!! Its such a great place and plenty of room, we had small kids there and we still didn't use all the available beds. There are single rooms that would certainly satisfy couples who didn't want to bunk up but then other bedrooms for the "bunkers". And of course the living room.its like out of novel when the fireplace is going at night or first thing in the morning. You want to sit there with a book and read all day, until you remember where you are and need to get outside. Plenty of wildlife around, firepits, and of course the Snake. (we have seen, deer, moose, foxes, elk, etc.) If you don't spend time everyday walking the Snake then your not on vacation. Only suggestion would be to have a sign above the windows telling you to keep them open at night so you hear the Snake all night long, thats how close it is. Recommendation: Best kept secret in Jackson. I'm hesitant to even write about it!!
