2 story home in Hobart, the Book Village of the Catskills, is 3 1/2 hrs from NYC. Just out the door is the Catskill Scenic trail for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. A playground with swings, slides, basketball court and covered picnic area is just across the road. Cooperstown with the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Farmer's museum is 45 min. away. Four ski areas are 30 to an hour away, Plattekill, Windham, Hunter and Belleayre. There are many fun activities the in surrounding towns throughout the year.
The house has 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths sleeps six. The kitchen is equipped; linens and towels are provided. You need only to bring yourself, family, friends and personal items for a carefree fun time of relaxing and exploring the countryside.
My wife and I are self-employed by refinishing antique furniture. We have a small antique shop within walking distance.
The property is managed by me since my father's passing.
Quiet.... snug. Great for small children.
I'm a 'native' of Hobart and love that little town. This home is centrally located to everything. The home was very clean and Steve was very welcoming. The bedrooms are very small - but there is a big walk-in closet to store your suitcases. (Who is there to hang out in your bedroom anyway?!) The upstairs bathroom is very roomy. The town playground is right across the street from the home and would be great if anyone has kids. The Catskill Scenic Trail is just a couple houses away, so this home would be a perfect starting point to go in either direction on the trail.
Quiet country setting. Good location, we walked a very short distance for some great local food. Great scenery. The house was tidy and shows its age. Wifi did not work. Low to no cell service. Air conditioning is only upstairs not down. Two of the upstairs bedrooms were very small. The water pressure in the shower was very poor. Overall we had a great time on our stay.
The house, while a bit dated, was adequate for a short stay. What was very odd was the fact that there is a cemetery in the backyard. I didn't see that in any of the photos when I booked the house. It would have been good to know that before I booked. While I'm not someone who is easily spooked, it is a bit unsettling to have that steps from the house. It should be advertised that way.
We found this place on whim for a ski trip to multiple mountains in the Catskills. The owners, Steve and Lisa, are great to deal with. They respond to emails VERY quickly and are very accomodating. The house was perfect for our family of 6. Nice fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, great family room with fireplace, ample bedrooms with comfy beds, and a mud room for our ski gear. Parking was good too. The price can't be beat. If you are a history buff, there is a small old pre-Civil War cemetery to the rear of the house with graves from the early 1800's. Very cool. Easy to get to this house, quiet neighborhood, and well-heated. PERFECT for a weekend exploring the area!
Lovely and peaceful, just a few yards from the Catskill Scenic Trail (formerly a railroad). A comfortable home with nice views of the surrounding hills from the front deck. The playground across the street is very convenient if you have kids but was not noisy at all. Be sure to stop by the owners' shop, Second Wind, located on Rt. 10 nearby. Inside you'll find some fine and charming antiques at very reasonable prices.
Don't forget the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown !
