I have lived on Martha's Vineyard for 10 years now. I love the people here, the pace and the wonders of nature. It is a very special place to me. I enjoy archery, paddle-boarding, playing bamboo flutes and fujaras. When I travel, I prefer a home-like accommodation. I am proudly offering the same to you, my guests. In all I am and do, I seek truth, joy and peace.

Lovely peaceful time
What a sweet spot. Jan is a great host and I felt renewed after my 6 nights there. He has all the amenities you need and is close to town and the bike path. October is a wonderful time on the Vineyard, I was also lucky to have the most beautiful weather! Thank you Jan!
Jan’s home is beautiful. He is a very nice man who welcomes you to your home away from home.
It was a true pleasure staying at Jan’s apartment. Perfect for four of us. Very clean!
centrally located & quiet location
We love the Vineyard and have stayed at many locations. This house is situated well to get teens and younger ones to their favorite spots, while proving a nice quiet setting to come home to. Great for 4, but six people could use an extra bathroom. The outdoor shower was a great help, and dining both inside and on the huge deck was wonderful!
Place is great, very clean and a true home away from home feel. We had no issues and Jan is so nice
Has everything you need and it's in a quiet area which is a great after a busy day in the Vineyard . The deck is very relaxing .
I would not recommend renting this home
I first want to state I love Martha's Vineyard and have been going there all my life. The owner Jan with held alot of information prior to arriving, for example he practices a business out of his home below the spot we rented. Throughout the day numerous "patients" would arrive and Jan basically yelled at me about our kids being to loud on there summer vacation. Which instantly we felt like we had to walk on egg shells every time we were home. Which was not how we wanted to enjoy our very hard earned vacation. Jan also charged me an extra cash fee before walking through the door for our dog. Which is fair but what was unfair is the fact he with held our entire security deposit after we left. Once I got the email stating we wouldn't be receiving the deposit back I called Jan right away in which he has yet to return any phone calls. It was like pulling teeth trying to get a hold of him since he would only respond via email and when he did respond he would not answer my questions. He never gave me any type of legitment receipt for with holding my large security deposit. I truthfully think he is taking advantage of my girlfriend and I for our additional money. That's why I do not recommend renting from Jan. And Jan if you are reading this you still owe me a phone call and a legitimate receipt or my money! I will never let this go, I also am going to continue to pursue my deposit. This is also my first time ever writing a negative review on or about anything. That should speak volumes... Call me Jan.
Dear Dan D.,
I am sorry that you still do not accept responsibility for the damage your family and dog caused during your stay here. I am also sorry that you have written a misleading and untruthful review about why I did not refund your damage deposit.
When I open my home I expect guests to respect the Rental Agreement, follow house rules and I also assume that they will act in accordance with any assurances they made to me in conversations prior to my accepting their booking request.
I communicated with you extensively prior to your booking and on your arrival, as well as after finding all the damage to my property caused by your family and your dog during your stay. I documented all of this very clearly on the official HomeAway messaging system. I described the damage and violations to you in extended detail via this messaging system, answered all of your questions and provided you with the attached receipt.
My listing is always up-to-date. Information about my holistic health practice is both in the listing and in the welcome letter. My practice not only does not interfere with my guests in any way, but on the contrary many guests upgrade their vacations into wellness retreats.
I did not refund your damage deposit because your actions, irresponsible behavior and violations of both the Rental Agreement and your own promises resulted in damage to my property.
Since 2014 my guests from around the world, who have been renting through HomeAway, VRBO and Airbnb have been happy and very satisfied with their experience at my home, some even returning back in the following years. I always welcome guests who are respectful to my house!
Charming and convenient!
I booked this spacious ranch on The Vineyard to accommodate my needs for a weekend of wedding events (i.e. close enough to Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown), and it was PERFECT. Bright and sunny, well appointed, although we didn't spend a great deal of time in the cottage, it was perfect for our need to relax after daily events. I only wish I had the time to add the owner's (Jan) therapeutic services. Now, THAT's a convenient option to have right on the premises! I would certainly book this cottage again.
