|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Splendid westerly views and gorgeous sunsets to be enjoyed by family and friends from this tasteful Cape's spacious deck, living and dining rooms, sunroom and kitchen.Enjoy the wonderful ambiance of this easy-living floor plan with first-floor bedroom, bath, laundry area, living room with fireplace and built-ins, large dining area with wide window seat and enough room for two tables. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms and a full bathroom. This property has a basement flat with its own independent entrance that is sometimes occupied by a tenant.The property has incredible perennial gardens with a path that leads down to the waterfront. At the waterfront, there is an Island owned by the Damariscotta River Association, which can be walked to during low tide. The island is a great place to swim during high tide. We have three kayaks and one canoe and rent them out for the entire duration of the stay for a small fee. We charge $50 per week per kayak/canoe, with a minimal rental amount of $50 per kayak/canoe.The property is ideally positioned to explore the coast of Maine via the river, visit Pemaquid lighthouse just a few miles down the road, spend time in the picturesque town of Damariscotta(1.6 miles) or explore further afield by visiting Boothbay Harbor( 25 minute drive), Bath (20 minute drive) or Camden (40 minute drive). Damariscotta was recently voted the #1 spot to visit in Country Living's article "40 American Towns You Haven't Heard of But Should Visit ASAP". See article at http://www.countryliving.com/life/travel/g3557/small-american-town-destinations/?src=arb_fb_d&mag=clv&dom=fb.
Enjoyed the 3 nights we recently stayed at this lovely well maintained home near the Damariscotta river. There were many amenities that were provided for us that we did not expect. Having ample paper towels, toilet paper, a working coffee maker, microwave and full kitchen were just some of the pleasantries. The owner was also available to text with any problems or concerns. Other than food, there was nothing necessary to go to the grocery store for, and when we did, it was less than 4 minutes away. Relatively easy access to the Damariscotta river was also nice.
Only criticisms of the property were directions, instructions as to where to find the kayak paddles, life jackets and path to the kayaks. The basement and garage were both locked, and I initially thought these areas were out of bounds, however we discovered they are available as well. There were plenty of bath and hand towels for us to use, but no wash cloths. Garabage disposal needs the owners attention desperately as it had an unpleasant odor if left not closed.
There is a tenant that lives in the basement apartment. We never heard or saw this person, however it was not disclosed in the online property description. There is also a fee for rental of the canoes and kayaks, so be sure to ask about that if you plan to use, which I recommend. You will also need to sign a waiver beforehand for the use of these.
THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. Something, I expected coming from a warm climate myself. We were kept cool by a mild outside temperature and box fans for every room. We only used the bedroom on the ground floor.
I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY RECCOMEND RENTING THIS PROPERTY. I HAD A GREAT TIME. Would be a great place to celebrate PUMPKINFEST in October each year! I would stay here again.
Be sure to Check out Pemaquid Point, Boothbay Harbor, as well as the Damariscotta River Grill, and perhaps a lobster roll or two at Larson's Lunch Box
The house was well equipped and clean. The owner, though not nearby, was prompt in answering all questions. It is an excellent location for accessing many mid-coastal tourist attractions. Damariscotta is a very lovely but busy place and the home is on a highly travelled street.
Cant beat this location for access to Salt and Fresh Water kayaking, hiking trails (great reference book in the bookshelves) and exploring the amazing fish ladder in Nobleboro. Our second year here - we enjoyed every minute, including the great sunroom for jigsaw puzzling. Thanks!
We enjoyed an excellent time at this property. The home was beautiful and well maintained. The owner was quick to respond to any questions about our stay. We enjoyed exploring the Pemaquid peninsula and especially liked visiting the Lighthouse Point, Muscungos Bay Lobster pound, and restaurants in Damariscotta (Savory Maine on Water Street and Schooners).
the house had everything that we needed to have a very successful vacation . The view from the very spacious private deck looks like it came from a magazine . We had a wonderful time in the canoe in the beautiful Damrascotta river. It was so nice having a garage. The kitchen had everything we needed. Would definitely do this again.
Absolutely met our every need. Our week here was nothing short of excellent. Relaxing on the back deck with such a peaceful view just melts your cares away. The downstairs master with the two bedrooms up for our young adult children was ideal. The layout of the home allowed us plenty of time together as well as needed time to have our own space as well. The proximity to Damariscotta was key for this stay. A beautiful 15 minute drive got us to the Pemaquid Point lighthouse. We would definitely highly recommend this property and would love to return there ourselves.
