Unique houseboat on Boston Harbor

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay on the Blue Pearl in Boston Harbor! We didn't have a car which made the location a bit inconvenient, but we were able to Uber or walk to the subway station and get where we wanted in Boston. It rained while we were there, which prevented us from enjoying the place fully - great deck both top and bottom to enjoy the harbor.

Very Nice Experience

  • 5 of 5

We decided to stay on Deb's houseboat rather than a hotel so that we could try something different. The houseboat was very neat, clean, and equipt with every amenity we needed for our three night stay. The queen bed was extremely comfortable. My kids are teens, so there was a bit of head banging going on in the loft, but they didn't complain. My kids enjoyed the fact that they could fish right off the dock and the ducks came by nightly for an evening snack of hamburg buns. Tired from their exploits in Boston they were eager to go back to the boat, sit on the docks and and chill out. There was very gentle rocking of the boat which for the most part went unnoticed. Getting to the Maverick T Stop was not something we attempted on foot, but there is a bus stop half a block from the Marina, so there may be an easy way to get there without walking too far. There is a parking lot near the T, but unless you have a handicap tag, you can only park there for 2 hrs. We managed to find some street parking near enough to leave the car for the day. There was a bit of noise from the drawbridge alarm and the traffic on the bridge, but for the most part we weren't effected by it. The view off the boat is not at all fantastic, and there was construction workers and bull dozers moving rocks at 6:00 am which was definitely a bit disturbing. This was certainly not the owner's fault, and in the long run going to better the environment surrounding the marina. Thanks to Deb having a sound machine in the bedroom, we parents were not bothered too much. Over all, this mini vacation was very enjoyable and we would highly recommend this rental for couples or parents of kids older than 10 yr old. There is no barrier around the loft or the docks, so little ones might be more at risk. Deb is very nice and accommodating.

A great alternative to two hotel rooms if you are a party of 6

  • 5 of 5

We took a chance on the Blue Pearl and were very pleasantly surprised by the charm and unique qualities of boating life. The pictures were accurate, the arrival email was detailed, the directions were good, the boat was well stocked, and Deb was very responsive to questions both before and once we arrived. The marina is in an industrial neighborhood and over looks a working drawbridge with a lot of traffic, but I did not find the noise disturbing. We liked watching the big boats go under the raised drawbridge. We were traveling with 4 teens, and they found a way to all sleep in the loft with the two mattresses, an air mattress provided and one we brought. They were kinda crammed up there, but liked it that way, and that freed up the living room space for, well, living. The only time we felt the boat rock was when there were gale force winds, so we just left earlier than planned for the day. It was not a problem. Thank you for a great stay!

Pleasant stay on the water!

  • 5 of 5

The houseboat was very well kept and clean. Great Keurig selection for the morning wake up. It was cold and raining when we went, but I would have loved to enjoy a cup of coffee on the upper deck. Only a 15 minute drive into Boston for all sorts of activities. I recommend eating at Rino's; which is only a few blocks from the house.

Thanks Deb!

Such a cool place to kick back!

  • 5 of 5

This property was awesome! Deb was responsive to our inquiry and communicated with us well during the process.

The property itself was a lot of fun. Was a short drive to all the major attractions. My wife and I stayed with our 4 kids. We were all excited to end our days here. There was plenty of room for all of us.

During our stay there was a bad storm through the night and you would still never know you were on the water.

I would highly recommend this property and would gladly stay there again!

Fantastic Houseboat away from home!

  • 5 of 5

The Blue Pearl is truly a delightful, well appointed and charming place to stay. The overall experience was unforgettable and unparalleled for a Boston rental. I really could not think of a negative aspect of this rental if I tried, it is well maintained and has everything (most likely more!) that you would desire in a vacation rental. It is roomy, comfortable, easily accessible and has unbeatable views. The East Boston neighborhood is up and coming and still culturally rich. There are hidden gems around nearly every corner. Close enough to Boston proper to get around easily, but far enough away to avoid the noise and clamor of a large metropolis. The houseboat itself is well supplied, very clean, big enough for a group and comes with many nice surprises and helpful perks. The sunrises and sunsets are indescribable, the front lawn is the gorgeous Chelsea River/Boston Harbor. The atmosphere of the Marina and boat neighbors is friendly and pleasant, living on the water seems to make people happy and calm. There is ample parking, very walk-able access to public transportation. Being so near the Boston Logan Airport makes Airline travel a breeze and is also a bonus for Uber or Lyft users, as there are always drivers/cars nearby- No matter the time of day, the wait for an Uber or a Lyft was never more than 3 minutes! I can't recommend this rental highly enough. Now that I think of it, the only negative aspect is that once you stay here, you will likely want to strap it to a tug and abscond with it so you can live in it forever!
