Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (sleeps 8). Approximately 1,600 SF.
I purchased the house in 2003 and it’s been a wonderful place to enjoy family memories over the years. The crisp cool mountain air, the layed back attitude and the numerous activities that Ruidoso has to offer is like few other places. My house is located in a quiet area near Upper Canyon, about five minutes to downtown, ten minutes to the Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino, fifteen minutes to the Racetrack and/or the Ski Apache Resort.
Large deck in the front of the house allows you to start your day with a cup of coffee while you watch the deer, listen for the turkeys and occasionally see Elk in the neighborhood. In the evenings enjoy having a glass of wine while watching the sunset over Sierra Blanca and listening to the wildlife.
Ruidoso offers enjoyment for every season. From snow skiing and snowboarding at nationally known Sierra Blanca Ski Resort to tubing at the lower runs, in the winter; to horse racing at Ruidoso Downs, home of the All American Futurity, the “Worlds Richest Quarter Horse Race, in the Summer, there is plenty to keep you busy. There is also casino gambling at Billy the Kid Casino and at the world famous Inn of the Mountain Gods, to provide plenty of opportunities to test your luck. There is also golf at a number of local courses including the championship links at the Inn of Mountain Gods, Links and Cree Meadows.
Meet your friends at several wonderful restaurants or bars in Ruidoso. I have listed some of my favorite below in the Google maps sections.
By renting my house you get the wonderful comforts of a home, extreme privacy and spacious accommodations for nearly the same price as a cabin or motel in town.
There are two separate Living areas in the house, one on each of the two levels. Both of them have, flat screen TV’s (one with DVD), along with Wood Burning Fireplace. The Living room is down the hall from the Master Bedroom with a Queen size bed (2 people), Twin Beds (2 people) in second bedroom and Futon (2 people) in bedroom. On second level there is full size bed (2 people) in one bedroom.

I have been in the title industry since 1974, I took a few detours but am now back for good!
I enjoy art and spend a lot of time painting-watercolor. My enjoyment for art started in 1993 as I took my first watercolor class and have continued since then. I have been in Alto Art Studio Tour, Lincoln County Art Studio Tour and numerous other showings while living in Ruidoso. I have always been inspired by the BLUE sky in New Mexico, the southwest architect and many beautiful Churches, mountains and other outdoor scenes in Ruidoso and Lincoln County. I am now living in the Dallas area.

I also have a Facebook Page about: Ponderosa Cabin and Ponderosa II
I have a condo that sleeps four if you need a smaller unit.
Susie Wallace purchased this house in 2003
I have had many memorable visits to Ruidoso since the 1960s with my parents. In the late 1990s my mom took two of my boys and myself for a trip to Ruidoso and knew that I was ready to invest in a place in the mountains. So I found a condo at Pinon Park Condos, have kept it as an investment. In 2003, I made the leap and converted my part-time residency status to full-time by purchasing the Ponderosa Cabin. Since 2003, my adult children, dogs and I have had many memorable times at the house and in Ruidoso and Lincoln County.
Late 2011, I moved back to Texas to be closer to family.
I love the summer in Ruidoso-it may be warm during the day, but by 7pm, it cools down and have the windows open during the night and wake up to a cool morning. In the winter, we may get 6 to 8 in of snow but it is gone by the next afternoon.
When you have that much snow, it is God's way of telling you to slow down for the day-and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
My neighborhood is quiet-I remember the first time my oldest son came to visit after I moved to Ponderosa Cabin. He whispered and said, 'it is so quiet'. My house is almost on top of its own mountain and is shared with some great neighbors. We would get together about once a month-I miss them and that time together so I hope you have the opportunity to meet them. They are all great people!
Pets-always! I have had lots of deer, turkeys and elk. Sometimes, I have had a bear visit (not in the house), but in the yard. After all, we took over their place.
Horse racing in the summer, Raspberry picking in late August, Apple picking in the neighborhood, smell fireplaces and Motorcycle Rally in the fall, Ski Apache opens Thanksgiving Day along with all the Christmas Festivities (parade, tree lighting and etc.). http://www.ruidoso.net
I love Lincoln County, get in on some history of Billy the Kid or pick Raspberries or head to the Lavender Farm, in Hondo Valley. There is always something going on in Ruidoso/Lincoln County.
What can I say, great property at a great price! The place is huge - easily accommodating our family of 4..., charmingly dated. Pet friendly with a gated dog run. Our timing was perfect with the big 2015 snow storm occurring during our stay... but being from south Texas, it's just what we wanted. Located in 'upper canyon', it's around 3-4 miles from 12 mile road (road to Ski Apache), and even closer to midtown. In the case of our stay due to the weather, required snow chains - we saw a 4x4 sliding backward down Oak St which was a shorter, but steeper way. Better to take Brady Canyon all the way to Maple around to E Redwood and Tamarack, which still has 2 steep spots but was no problem in our front wheel drive mini-van with the chains. Susie was very responsive and I probably drove her nuts because we started planning in April! Operation White Christmas was a success!! I would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
We stayed in Christmas day and Saturday. We did Ski Apache and the Winter Park, shopped Christmas Eve, and the alley was steep enough for sledding right out the back door! The rest was playing in the snow and building snowmen!
We like to eat out when we vacation -
K-BOBS - chain restaurant but decent meal and the salad bar is always good.
Anahiem Jacks - was a decent burger with decent beer list, but the day we went the main cook, allegedly, was out so the food took a long time.
Farley University - good burgers and the appetizer, Rabbit Droppings, or something was excellent.
Sacred Grounds - as good a mocha or better than Starbucks and certainly better food, breakfast sandwich and burrito were good. Nothing special about the bagel.
Our group had 4 adults and 2 kids and the split floorplan worked great for our group. We put the kids in a room off the lower living room so when they went to bed each night the adults would move to the upper living room and not have to worry about being noisy. The house is really cozy, comfortable and welcoming and the photos don't do it justice. It was bigger than I expected, too. The front deck is large and gets afternoon sun so we spent some nice afternoons hanging out there enjoying the view before the temperature drop at sunset drove us back inside.
We went to Ski Apache to play in the snow one day and to White Sands another day which was a bit of a drive but easily doable as a day trip. The town of Ruidoso had some cute shops and a great pizza place called Cafe Rio. The house is fairly close to town and we saw a ton of deer on our drives in. Also saw a lot of woodpeckers and other birds around the house.
The area is really quiet and while many of the neighbors had dogs, I only heard barking once (and it didn't last long). The owner was great and checked in with us throughout our visit to see if we needed anything. If we visit Ruidoso again, I would definitely stay here again.
Our family has stayed here for the second time and have enjoyed it each time. Great house setup and room for all. Great location and view. I highly recommend renting this house, (except don't choose the dates we want to return on). We will go back!!!
Like everyone says the pictures don't do this place justice. This place is amazing! Quiet area beautiful scenery even though we got 3 inches of snow the first night we were there the patio with the grill still worked out for us. There were 9 of us in our party there was plenty of room for everryone to spread out and do our thing with 2 living areas. Peter the manager was nice when he greeted us and showed us a better place to park, Susie the owner even called me just to check to see if everything was fine when we arrived. We are already planning another trip back for next year.
This was the third time me and most of my girls fastpitch softball team stayed there. Total there were 10 of us, and the home had plenty of room for everyone. The scenery was great and other than the pizza delivery guy not finding the address it was a super weekend. We will definately stay there again.
We found the accommodations fine with lots of room, and were pleased with our stay. The owner and manager were both very nice and pleasant to deal with. The only negative, and a slight one for us, was the steps to different levels inside for several older visitors.
