About Melody

I grew up in Centre County, PA, and graduated from Penn State. I live in Westchester County, NY. I love to travel and I have traveled extensively and love to explore whether it be a new city or an African safari.

Melody purchased this house in 2011

Why Melody chose Clarence

This property is my mountain get away where I grew up.

What makes this house unique

Situated on 10 acres and backing up to a small forest, it's incredibly peaceful, with easy access to hunting, fishing, hiking and a Rails to Trails access point. Yet, it is close to State College allowing you to take advantage of everything Penn State and the university town has to offer. Bellefonte, PA, is also a nice victorian town to explore.

Beautiful Property & Extremely Clean!

  • 5 of 5

This property was even better than the pictures that were posted! When we arrived, all 4 adults were very pleased! It is a sprawling ranch with lots of room and privacy. We had 4 adults, a 2-year old grandson and infant granddaughter - we were never in each others' way. It was a great place to go home to at the end of a long day and be able to unwind and be very comfortable. The home is immaculate, very well maintained and fully furnished with anything you would need for a great stay. The outside property is just as beautiful as the interior including a nice deck with furniture overlooking a gorgeous backyard.

The owner was very responsive in to our inquiries before the stay and also providing us with any information needed prior to the stay. I would absolutely recommend this property to others. We would stay here again when visiting the Penn State College area.

A Great Place for a Family Gathering / Nature Sight-Seeing / Stargazing

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on a family trip to see the elk, and we were very appreciative to find such a great place to stay for the weekend. The house was a very comfortable place for our family to gather and to relax, and we were glad there were few steps and an easy-to-access shower for grandma. The owner was very friendly and helpful with advice for touring the area, and she was also very patient with me and my inexperience using VRBO. :) On our second evening we saw 50+ elk bugling at the Elk Country Visitor Center! Then the next day we made our way north through Kettle Creek State Park (good fishing) and Ole Bull State Park (nice for a picnic), on our way to Cherry Springs State Park to see the stars. The stargazing was amazing at Cherry Springs, but the stargazing was also very good right at the house! We saw a sign at Fish Dam Run Scenic View that says it is a great place to stargaze and see the milky way. Fish Dam Run Scenic View is basically just a parking area with a porta potty on a mountain top, but it is just as dark as Cherry Springs and close to the house on Route 144. We would definitely recommend staying at this house as a base for touring the scenery and wildlife in the area. Thank you!

Great stay for SSRT Snow Shoe Rails to Trails

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had 6 men, 4 trucks, and 4 trailers. The driveway was a little tight with all that equipment but manageable. There is no on street parking. We had to unhook the trailers and move things around. The good thing is the trail head (Near Newman's Sandwich Shop) is only 1.3 miles away on a mostly unmarked road using Flatt Street. There is a really big garage with a hose. The house is pretty big, plenty of room. Everything you need is there. Towels, sheets, blankets, firewood, plates, and silverware etc. We will be coming back!

Graduation weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our son's Penn State graduation & couldn't have found a better place! It was so clean & there was plenty of space for all of us. Melody was quick to respond to any questions I had- a real pleasure to deal with. I will be recommending this home to friends who will be looking for a PSU grad rental in the future. Thank you for a fantastic place to celebrate this important milestone!
