Perfect Place for Peace

  • 5 of 5

La Casita del Bosque was the perfect home to return to after exploring the UP. Nestled in a quiet, peaceful area just south of Munising, this home is meticulously crafted and provides all of the comforts desired in a home away from home. We enjoyed 4 nights with very little technology and an abundance of laughter and family time. Definitely recommend this place for your vacation to the beautiful upper pennisula. We hope to come back!

Stunning cabin!

  • 4 of 5

This house is truly beautiful!!! The architecture is terrific, and it is so well set-up--the only drawback is that it is really far away from everything we were doing--hikes, boat tour to see the Pictured Rocks and so forth, so a bit more isolated than we were thinking it would be. Once you know that, though, the house is pretty hard to beat, and so nice to come home to at the end of the day!

Overall I would rate this home as average. The home has a sufficient kitchen, adequate living area, fairly good bathrooms and tolerable bedrooms. All the beds are double beds including the Master bedroom, and were not very comfortable. The house does not have air and was hot and humid even with all the windows open and fans running. The home was not as close to downtown Munising as we had anticipated. It is quite isolated and the mosquitos were horrendous even after we bathed in deep woods off. If you need WiFi connection this is not the house for you as the only place you could attempt to get a connection was at the kitchen table in a certain spot and it was very difficult to stay connected.

Owner's Response: This is a renter that wrote a very positive and complementary review in our welcome book at the house with no complaints. When I informed them I would not be returning the $100 damage deposit due to having 4 additional people making it a party of 12, the destruction of white bath linens which were used for some kind of clean up and the need for a great deal of additional cleaning, they followed up with this. This is one of only three times I have ever withheld the damage deposit. Our house is as advertised except I forgot to advertise the mosquitoes in the UP in the summer.

Spectacular seclusion

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 rented La Casita Del Bosque for a 4-day UP getaway during July and it was wonderful. This beautifully designed, impeccably decorated, and ideally outfitted house took our breath away at first sight. I would, without hesitation, book this property again -- and for a longer period the next time. If you want to get away from it all and just RELAX, this is the place. The owner was a delight to work with. The only drawback was the lack of internet access, which was a deficit for us, since we like to plan our travel as we go and we use the internet a lot for that purpose. We solved the problem by making the short drive into Munising each day for the lunch at a little internet cafe downtown, to it wasn't a major drawback. Do yourself a favor; book Casita Del Bosque!

Have stayed at this property before and glad to see it on homeaway! Love the peaceful setting in the woods and the private lake to swim and fish! The area attractions in Munising and the Pictured Rocks NP are awesome!
