Ocracoke Cottage Rental Photos and Description

One King Bed w/full tub/shower bath/laundry, outdoor shower; sleeps 2, 1 pet ok

This charming cottage is on a side street one block from the coffee shop and the two finest restaurants on the island. A perfect getaway for a couple, just a short walk to the harbor and shops. This tranquil island home features a screened porch in front and a back deck for sunset dining. It provides a cozy living area and kitchen with everything you'll need for a relaxing vacation. A spacious bedroom upstairs, hardwood floors throughout, skylights, and a bookcase of books, games, puzzles and DVDs to enjoy during your stay. All the modern conveniences (DSL and WiFi, cable flat screen TV, local phone and central heat/air). Screened-in front porch and back deck with barbecue.

Ocracoke the Island : The Outer Banks of North Carolina (OBX), as you may already know, are a slender strand of barrier islands located between the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds, and the Atlantic Ocean. Ocracoke Island is the southernmost of these Outer Banks islands and can be reached only by ferry, boat or small plane.

The entire island has an area of only 9.6 square miles and a year-round resident population of just about 800. Ocracoke’s historical isolation from the mainland, and even the other islands, is the gift that has made it such a unique destination.

Ocracoke Island - The #1 Beach: It came as a surprise to some that this 'sandbar' could be recognized as 'America’s Best Beach' by the infamous Dr. Stephen Letterman, or 'Dr. Beach.'

Ocracoke Island is completely, delightfully, unincorporated. There is not a single chain restaurant, hotel, or store to be found. There are no high-rise condos.

The 16 miles of beach is completely undeveloped U.S. National Seashore.

Ocracoke is about beauty, a quieter time and place and renewal – along with the best of modern conveniences.

Ocracoke Island - Stuff To Do: There are great restaurants serving fresh catch, plenty of outdoor activities (walking the beach, shelling biking, fishing, kayaking, para-sailing, yoga), a local coffee shop, bookstore, public library, shops, art galleries, surf shops/lessons, golf cart rentals, wedding services, or just a bench to watch and meet the locals. And to top off any day, there’s live music at every restaurant, the Community Center on Tuesday nights and Deepwater Theater & Music Hall on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Your pet is welcome.

About Blue Heron Vacation Rentals

We bought this cottage as our home and then decided to allow Blue Heron to manage rental guests to enjoy this special, healing place.

Blue Heron Vacation Rentals purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Blue Heron Vacation Rentals chose Outer Banks

This is a wonderful small cottage with all of the 'mod-cons' close to the coffee shop, shopping, restaurants, Deepwater Theater, the harbor and all the village amenities! Blue Heron manages the property for us as we are often off-island.

What makes this cottage unique

This is a romantic, relaxing, cozy cottage for just the two of you -- Completely fenced in back yard for your pet! Blue Heron will help you with all of the details before, during and after your stay so even when we are away, you will be well-taken-care-of.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Charlotte's Daughter has to be the coziest, cutest little cottage on the island! Comfortable like home, we adored coming back from the beach each day to nestle in here. We will carry the memories of the sun and the sand and this restful place, and dole them out through the year to come, until we return.

We love Ocracoke, more each time we visit. Your hospitality here at Charlotte's Daughter makes it all the more precious. Thank you!

Come home to Charlotte's Daughter

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been staying on Ocracoke, on and off, since 1993. During the years, we stayed in a few places that were fine, but nothing really special. While planning our 2008, I was searching out houses that would accommodate us and our kitty. I found Charlotte's Daughter on the Internet, and the rest is, as they say, history. From the moment we walked in the front door that night, after driving 15 hours from NJ, I felt like I was home. What I mean by that is that the place

had such a warm, welcoming feeling, it was quaint but beautiful, and it was so CLEAN! That's my main criteria. Oh, and did I mention the super comfortable king size bed? Just glorious! So now for the past five years we have spent our vacations in this special cottage. We've been at different times of year, spring, summer and fall, each season brings it's own magic to the island. And did I mention the hosts, Lou and Marcy? You couldn't find nicer people in the world. So come to Charlotte's Daughter and enjoy one of the best vacations of your life. You'll feel like you've come home

summer time/thanksgiving tradition

  • 5 of 5

Ocracoke Island has become a family tradition. We make a visit in the summer and then every other year we spend Thanksgiving on the island. Each time we come, we stay at Charlotte's Daughter. The space is a super fit for my husband and I. Our dog(s) have joined us a time or two. The fenced in yard and screeened in porch are super spaces for all of us to enjoy time together relaxing. We enjoy the location of the house because it is off the main road and yet close to everything. Other than driving to the beach, we never use our car. The restaurants we love to dine at are close by.(The Flying Melon, Pony motel for the breakfast, The Backporch, and the Ocracoke Coffe House). The Deepwater Theater and the Light house are also very easy to get to on foot or by car. Charlotte's Daughter is our home away from home when we come to Ocracoke. The cottage is very cozy. There are lots of personal touches that make it feel more like home verses a rented space. We wish we could visit more often and stay longer.
