About Janet Kondakor

We purchased this property because our love or the James River and Richmond. The location was amazing, being just off the interstate and minutes from downtown Richmond. I am a avid kayaker, paddle boarder and previous white water raft guide. The James River is the only River in the country with class 5 Rapids running through the middle of it. Downtown Richmond is going through major revitalization and benefiting from their River locations and Historical value. Janet a skilled horse woman and a antique collector. She also has a knack for decoration in a comfortable way, and strives to make sure her guests are treated as if in a Five Star Hotel. This property was considered a Diamond in the Rough when we bought it... Janet and I spent over 1 year to ensure that it would be something that anyone could enjoy.. From the Taj King sized bed, High Quality Mattresses, fully stocked kitchen, Sun Room, out door environment and beautiful landscaping , We both feel that you will be very comfortable in a beautiful setting during your stay.

Charming Home!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Janet and Rob’s home. This year we got to enjoy a week. What can we say the home has everything and anything to make you feel as if you were home, so much more enjoyable that staying at a hotel! Being right on the James River and not far from the Chickahominy, our husbands experienced pure bliss, so much so they didn’t want to leave. We are so blessed to have found their listing. We all had an awesome time and hopefully we will get to keep coming back.

Really, really, quiet and peaceful. And so close to bustling downtown Richmond.

Two daughters, two grandsons, and two sons-in-law live in Richmond. We will definitely stay at this idyllic river cottage on a future visit with the children.

We had a relaxing ladies weekend for my best friend's low-key bachelorette party. The house is beautiful and comfortable and the owners really went the extra mile to make us comfortable. There was WiFi, plenty of cookwares, even spices, coffee, and creamers. Janet and Rob left mints and a bottle of wine, chocolate, and cookies for us as well!

The house is right on the river, which makes for a beautiful scene to wake up to. It is quiet and peaceful. We ate breakfast every morning in the sun room, and in the evening we were able to watch movies on their comfy couches.

They have a bathroom stocked with everything you could ever need, as well.

The location is perfect, because it is only about 15 minutes from downtown Richmond, and about the same to Colonial Williamsburg, so you get beautiful scenic country, and also the option of spending a day or evening in the city.

I highly recommend this rental, and I will probably be back with my husband!!

Peaceful hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

This adorable cottage is exactly what we needed for a little "get away from the world"... SO peaceful & quiet, yet close enough to the city and Fort Lee for our sons graduation ceremony. My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights/5 days. The cottage is just as the pictures portray and the description is perfect. There was nothing we found we needed once here... Janet & Rob thought of everything from flashlights to charcoal! Kitchen was very well equipped for cooking meals, as were the bedrooms & bathroom for linens. Sitting outside each morning we would have a small deer visit the yard briefly until she saw us. The variety of birds around was amazing also. Just a quick trip (approx. 10-15 mins) to the Food Lion grocery, and Rite Aid pharmacy. We ate lunch at Portabella's (Italian) right next door to the Food Lion, food was very good. There are PLENTY of food options around and even a Mall if need be. Fort Lee was 20 mins away. Would definitely stay here again... Thanks so much!

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you stayed with us for your sons graduation from Fort Lee. In the past we had other military family's stay with us We are very proud that we are able to accommodate and support out military family's when a little home time is needed. The birds are awesome to see, especially the Eagles. Thanks for taking such great care of our place, we hope to see you in the future. Thank you and your son for your service. Sincerely Rob and Janet

Rain, Rain and more Rain

  • 5 of 5

Well just a little sunshine would have been great but we can't predict that. It would have been wonderful to sit down by the waters edge and watched the boaters but didn't happen.

We ventured out to Shirley Plantation and loved it.

We did go into Richmond several times.

We played cards, drank wine and laughed alot.

And enjoyed watching the TV

The cottage is very cute .

We enjoyed our stay like I said the lack of sunshine was not good.

Thank you
