Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place! The cottage is so nice and had everything we could possibly need. The location is fantastic---a real "getaway," but very easy access to restaurants and Richmond. Winter weather meant the leaves were off the trees and we had an amazing view of the river and wildlife, including herons and eagles. It was nice and toasty inside and the beds and couches were very comfortable. Janet stayed in touch to offer any assistance we needed. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

Beautiful cottage on a beautiful river

  • 5 of 5

Great little cottage with all the basics for your stay and just enough extras to make your vacation special. I wish we had more time during Christmas to spend at the house. We saw not bugs as a prior review had described. Everything was clean and appropriate. The owners were responsive, gracious when we needed to extend an extra day and great hosts. Would definitely rent again. Thank you!

Not really impressed

  • 2 of 5

Could use a good cleaning. Spider webs on front door. Spider webs around kitchen cabinets. Lady Bugs and Stink bugs in house. Walk down to the dock and back to the house is a very strenuous workout...We will not be returning visitors. Bring your own pillows and a couple of fly swatters.

Owner's Response: Rebecca; We are very surprised of your review and sorry that you did not enjoy yourself. When I met you and spoke with your husband, I was very happy to hear how delighted you both were that the family could be together. He said that everything was wonderful, the house was great and the kids enjoyed fishing off the dock. I offered him more fishing poles and charcoal from the shed . We are on the James river, and you will have lady bugs in Virginia in the fall. We personally clean after each guest so we know that everything is fresh!! It is important to us to know our guests are greeted by a house that feels cozy and welcoming. Our pictures show the path to the river and most love the magnificent views! It is unfortunate you felt the walk to the river too strenuous. We do hope you enjoyed some of our personal touches such as the gift basket with wine and snacks, toiletries, laundry soap, firewood ,paper towels and spices. We really value our travelers and try our best to help their stay be fun and relaxing. We look forward to their reviews and hearing about the big fish that they caught or the one that got away, the family gatherings, meeting the perspective son in-law or the relaxing time enjoying nature. We are also very proud of our military and happy that we could be a ( home) away from home for your son and all the other soldiers. We hope that your Thanksgiving spent with your family was wonderful!!

About Janet Kondakor

We purchased this property because our love or the James River and Richmond. The location was amazing, being just off the interstate and minutes from downtown Richmond. I am a avid kayaker, paddle boarder and previous white water raft guide. The James River is the only River in the country with class 5 Rapids running through the middle of it. Downtown Richmond is going through major revitalization and benefiting from their River locations and Historical value. Janet a skilled horse woman and a antique collector. She also has a knack for decoration in a comfortable way, and strives to make sure her guests are treated as if in a Five Star Hotel. This property was considered a Diamond in the Rough when we bought it... Janet and I spent over 1 year to ensure that it would be something that anyone could enjoy.. From the Taj King sized bed, High Quality Mattresses, fully stocked kitchen, Sun Room, out door environment and beautiful landscaping , We both feel that you will be very comfortable in a beautiful setting during your stay.
