Felt like home away from home!! I would recommend this rental property to anyone planning to stay here.
My family and I made our first trip to Puerto Rico, and it couldn't have been any better than with a spot in El Yunque. The home is nestled near the base of this rainforest mountain and with the modern amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. We took advantage of the kitchen and laundry areas and were enchanted by the fauna that make the rainforest their home.
The home is clean upon arrival and was cool compared to the rising humid temperature outside. We stood on the first floor and despite heavy rains and flash flood warnings (we were in a rainforest, after all), we were dry and relatively cool indoors. None of the little critters native to the island made it indoors as we kept the doors and windows closed. Some of the windows have screens that, when the windows are open, keep them away.
The shower water is warmed by the heat outside and not too hot or too cold to use as is. The home is stocked with towels, plates, utensils, pots, and pans. There is wifi available and Direct TV (so you won't miss an episode of The Big Bang Theory or Law&Order SVU, and the Weather Channel). There are two bedrooms on the first floor, both fully furnished with pillows, bedclothes, dressers, and hangers.
All in all, it felt very much like home. We were close enough to a main highway to travel in and our of the surrounding cities (we were in Luquillo abs made several trips into San Juan with ease). We're planning on going again and exploring more of the mountains.
I don't believe it was too expensive. We were safe, comfortable, excited, and enchanted with our stay. We got our monies worth out of this trip and our stay. I will advise that since it is in a rainforest mountain area that one remembers to pack insect repellent, sunscreen, aloe verá, good hiking boots and appropriate clothing.
One last thing. I mentioned flash floods, I understand those are common and to be expected. As such, the owner called to see that we were okay and to tell us where emergency flashlights and extra water was stored. That is service that goes above and beyond. We didn't suffer a flood or even power outage, but to be thought of was heartwarming.
