About the property

1 bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, screened porch with view of Center Harbor Bay

This classic New Hampshire cottage, neatly kept, simple, no-frills yet possessing an old-fashioned charm that many refer to as 'spirit-renewing'. Colonial Pines sits on the edge of picturesque Center Harbor Bay.

WE PREFER TO RENT BY THE WEEK DURING JULY AND AUGUST but shorter stays will be considered.

Simple lakeside charm. Knotty pine interior. Cottage #1 accommodates up to three guests. It has one bedroom with a double bed, bureau, and closet. The living room has a futon, comfortable chairs and TV, a closet and small dresser. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, oven, toaster, and a drip coffee maker. All dishes, silverware and pots and pans are provided.

Food or meals are not provided. Local supermarket is less than a mile away.

The cottage has two porches - one screened in with table and chairs for dining and relaxing.

Our location is in a quiet non-commercialized area, assuring our guests of privacy. The cottage has a wonderful view of the lake and surrounding woods.

Get in touch with nature, perfect for boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing.. There are few locations on the 'big lake' that offer so much privacy without a long drive to the store and services. Restaurants and groceries are only 2 minutes by car or boat. Restaurants ranging from family fast food to gourmet meals are within a couple of miles.

One hundred fifty feet of sandy swimming with gradual slope, two wharves - one with diving board, swim raft, stone fireplace by lake for cook-outs, outdoor shuffle-board court, badminton, and table tennis.

For our guests we offer complimentary use of two canoes.

We also offer KAYAK RENTALS.

There are many islands to explore by water. The harbor is protected on three sides which makes it ideal for canoeing and kayaking.

We live on the property and assist our guests with check-in, boat rentals, finding local attractions, and any other way we can. One of our reviewers says it best: "Cindy and Gary are experienced hosts who know how to welcome guests and offer assistance, but also leave space for privacy. They are genuinely nice people, and we felt completely comfortable with them."

We are within walking distance to the quaint town of Center Harbor. There are wonderful little shops in town including Keepsake Quilting, a bookstore, a grocery store, ice cream stands, restaurants and even a gazebo for band concerts on Friday evenings.

Hiking, antiquing, golfing, outlet shopping are just a few of the many activities close by.

Close to the White Mountains and Gunstock Mountain Recreation area where you can enjoy many outdoor activities. There are lots of hiking trails for all abilities within a short drive.

Some guests bring bicycles.

A great family tradition is walking to town for ice cream on a hot summer night.

Weekly rentals Friday to Friday during July & August. Shorter stays will be considered.

We prefer to rent a minimum of 3 nights other times of the year because of the cleaning involved with a cottage, but a 2 night stay will be considered. Events and holiday weekends may require a longer minimum stay.

If you're looking to stay for a shorter time please consider our Lodge Suite.

We do not provide sheets and towels. If it's not possible for you to bring your own please let us know.

A deep well on the property assures great drinking water.

Boat slips available if you bring your own boat. Additional cost for boat slips. Please inquire. Plenty of parking for trailers.

Close to all area attractions. Cruise Lake Winni on the MS Mount Washington (it departs from Center Harbor on Monday's), hike in the White Mountains, tour Castle in the Clouds, attend a concert at Meadowbrook, shop at the Outlet stores in North Conway, go zip lining in Lincoln, ride the Cog Railroad up Mount Washington. Just to name a few of the many things to see and do in our beautiful area!

Pets are not allowed and Colonial Pines is a non-smoking environment.

Please note: Check in after 3:00PM - Check out by 10:00AM.

Due to our cleaning schedule early check in and late check out is not permitted.

Quiet time is from 11:00 PM until 8:00 AM.

Extra guests incur a charge and must be approved before you check in.

Please do not hang wet beach towels or bathing suits in cottage. Please use clothesline located beside the Lodge.

Guests will arrive to a clean cottage; however we do not offer housekeeping services during your visit. Guests will maintain their own cottage in a reasonable fashion during their visit. When our guests depart, we request the cottage to be broom clean, dishes washed and put away, trash disposed of in the dumpster, recycle placed in the blue bins between the lodge and workshop, furniture and bedding should be in a neat and tidy order.

We are not responsible for personal items left in the cottage.

Please do not feed the ducks, squirrels or chipmunks, as cute as they may be!

When using the heater in the cottage please keep door(s) and windows closed. If you leave the cottage for a period of time please set the thermostat back. Heaters are turned off during July and August.

A little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location, charming cottage, tranquil surroundings and lovely property hosts. What more could you ask for? We needed some quiet R and R, yet also wanted to do some low key sight seeing. Mission accomplished! Cindy and Gary the owners of Colonial Pines had wonderful suggestions and were so warm and welcoming. We love New Hampshire and hope to visit our new favorite place again sooner than later! Thanks for the spectacular hospitality y'all!

Cute lakeside cottage

  • 5 of 5

Loved the property. It was right on the lake and was stocked with all that we needed to make our stay comfortable. The owners are super sweet and answered any questions I had. Very close to town and shopping, yet felt secluded and private. Would definitely reccomend and plan on coming back again in the future!
