This is a relaxing location where you can sit in your own yard in the early evening and watch the sun go down over buttermilk bay. Watch as everything around you becomes bathed in a glow of soft red light, almost magical.
From your living room, dining and master bedroom, all at the front of the house, you can view the sunset too,see the boats docked in buttermilk bay and enjoy the view of ppl boat fishing or just kayaking.
One mile from the canal where you can walk, rollerblade, jog, cycle or just take a relaxing walk and watch the boats go by.
included for your entertainment after a fun filled day, is a 50 inch tv with Amazon prime, Netflix, HBO go and Wifi. Some toys for younger children and jigsaws for older.
New kitchen was put in two years ago and a washer/dryer is there for your convenience.
My husband, three children, all now adults, came to MA 11yrs ago from Ireland. We lived in Cork and moved here with my husband's work. We now live in Westborough where I have an in-home dog boarding business for vacationers. Some of the dogs sleep with me also as that is what they are used to. I love it.
Catherine Duffy purchased this cottage in 2010
We have always loved the canal and would often travel there at weekends for day trips. We would buy an ice-cream and just sit near the tourist office and watch the boats sail by or watch people on the canal biking, taking their dogs/children for walks or rides in the strollers that trail behind their bikes. It is just a fun and relaxing place to go. When this house came on the market we bought it within a week of it being advertised as we loved the location, so near to the canal, our favorite spot, and also water views from all of the front windows which has such a relaxing effect on the soul.
We have a small residents man-made beach within walking distance which is great for our grandson as it is a lake as opposed to salt water.
We also have a small salt water beach with a children's play area with swings about a half mile away.
There are larger beaches in the area and also a water park.
We love to watch the sunsets over the water and see the boats bobbing up and down in the water.
My wife and I stayed here with our two kids (high school and college aged). It was a fantastic choice, serving a great departure point for Boston (the Freedom Trail and New England Aquarium were two of our trips) or the Cape (whale watching out of Provincetown, the National Seashore, Woods Hole, and various beaches). The house is beautiful, and you can see Little Buttermilk Bay from the front picture window. The beds were comfy, and the house was spotless and nicely decorated. We loved it!
This was our first trip to Cape Cod and the house worked perfectly for us. It is beautifully kept, clean, spacious and very comfortable. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 - great kitchen, very nice bedrooms with comfortable beds, plenty of living space. The decor is so cute and very much in line with the Cape Cod location. The neighborhood was quiet and very nice. The bay is right across the small street and can by seen very well from the front of the house and all the front windows. The location is great for exploring the Cape or going to Boston for the day. We had a great vacation here and hopefully will get to come back soon. The property owners are very nice and easy to work with. I would definitely stay at this rental again and recommend it to friends.
We traveled with our daughter and her two small children. This home was perfect. As we entered through the back gate, the two-year old excitedly said, "This is awesome!" as she spotted the sand box that was waiting with trucks and pails and shovels. This home is clean, comfortable and cozy. We walked to the pond that is nearby for an enjoyable swim and play in the sand. The location is perfect for sight seeing and just a short distance to the ocean front. If we come back to the area, we would definitely rent again. Thank you Catherine for making this available for our family.
The cottage is at a great location, easy to get to from the highways,About 15 minutes to woods hole to catch the ferry. The house is right across from buttermilk bay which gives you great sunset views. There's the queen Seville pond that's literally a two minute walk from the house and the electric beach is a 10 minute walk. ( we walked since the town doesn't give a temporary beach parking pass for this beach. It only gives for monument beach. The other option was to pay per day parking at the fabulous scusset beach which is about a 10 minute drive).
The house is clean and very beautifully decorated! We had everything we needed, the owner was very thoughtful, she left everything we needed. The house was child friendly, she even left out some toys and my kids had a blast in the sand box in the fences in yard. I particularly enjoyed the hammock in the morning before it became too hot.
I'm looking forward to return next summer!
We had rented many places in the Cape & this was the best so far. It has everything we need after a long fishing trip or long day at the beach. My kids loved the private fenced backyard. The bedrooms are clean & comfortable. Kitchen has all I need to cook dinner for family. The living room, relaxing room, & dining area are nice with beautiful decorations. Water is just steps away & we can view it from the front window. The owner was so nice & friendly. We will come back to this place if there is chance this Fall or next Summer.
This was my second stay in this property and I will be back again. Very comfortable, very clean and in a lovely location. Good communications with the owner. I would recommend this property to my family and friends. Great location for touring around Cape Cod. I had a wonderful holiday here.
The property is walking distance from both saltwater and freshwater beaches. It is about a mile from Cape Cod Canal. The canal has service roads along both sides that are closed to traffic and are used for walking, biking or to roller blade. Cape Cod had numerous beaches and quaint villages and towns. There are many restaurants within a couple of miles of the property. The property has central air conditioning and a closed in back yard. All modern conveniences; dishwasher, microwave, washer/drier and WiFi. The property is also convenient for trips to Boston or Providence. There are lots of activities to do, cycle, hike, swim, sunbathe, roller blade, whale watch, shopping, fine dining, fishing and more.
