This property is well past its prime...look elsewhere. The pictures shown are NOT current.

This property (a duplex) is well past its prime and should be removed from rental listings.

When we arrived, we were given a form from the North Captiva Island Club to complete listing everything we found wrong or broken (a "nice" welcoming touch from NCIC since the form indicated anything we didn't list that was later found broken would be charged to us!). It took 2 pages to list everything we found wrong and I took about 20 photos to note the condition of the property and furnishings. If we were in a hotel I would have immediately requested another room or moved to another facility....not so easy to do on North Captiva, especially since you've prepaid before you see your accommodations. This pictures posted online were staged when the property was renovated and do NOT represent its current condition. The line about "has recently come back online" is complete bs.

Much of the furniture, fixtures and appliances are in disrepair. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped, but the eating utensils are incomplete and mismatched. The microwave, stove top and toaster were all marginal and need to be replaced (eg, you have to hold the microwave door closed for the unit to work).

The beds and bedding were fine and comfortable. The dining room setup was also fine, but the living room furniture is very worn and should be replaced. The tile floors in the main area are either filthy or need to be refinished....dull, chipped and uneven.

The bathrooms were adequate, but the faucets all leak or have other quirks. Both baths have jacuzzi tubs which I suggest you avoid, since bugs come out of the jets if you engage the pump. We all used "showers only" since the tubs themselves could use a good cleaning.

The "weber grill" described in the property description is dysfunction and should be tossed. Don't plan on grilling if you stay here.

I would grade this property a D (below average). I would grade the North Captiva Island Club an F for property management. The stairs to the second floor have a patch/repair that actually creates a tripping hazard. Many of the light bulbs were burned out (or the fixture itself has failed). There are a gazillion light switches in this place...none of them labeled, so between the blown bulbs and the myriad of switches, turning something on/off is like playing whack-a-mole. Asking each new renter to inventory all the defects in this place is ridiculous (and offensive). Try to rent directly thru the owner, not NCIC

Great location and size

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was good, the management was slow in fixing the problems we had... clogged shower, toilet, golf cart that wouldn't charge. We look forward to returning to such a well-appointed, perfect-sized house

Perfect location. Clean little place. Perfect for my family of 6!

Tropical paradise! We had a lot of storms, which made the bugs horrendous, but not typical. We still managed to squeeze in some sunshine each day. Loved our vacation!

Great place.. Had a couple setbacks, but would Stay again

  • 4 of 5

The home really has a great feel. The living area send kitchen is a wide open floor plan. It is very modern and clean with a very warm feeling. The ocean is a small walk across the street and through some dunes..real close to, but definitely not on the ocean..close enough to hear with windows open. The upstairs deck gives a great view of the ocean. Great place to watch the sunset. We stayed there for a wedding and was able to visit many of the homes on the island . This was one of my favorites.

Cons: The third bedroom upstairs is very small and only accessible through the bathroom. It would be perfect for kids..

The only bathroom on the lower level is the master bathroom so it is only accessible through the bedroom.

Internet connection problems. Wifi didn't work, so Tv didn't work either..- I wasn't there for tv but had it rained a day to stay in there were plenty of games and books available

Beautiful View of the Gulf

  • 5 of 5

Our stay on North Captiva Island the past three days has been delightful. From the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (from the check in on Pine Island to the island) to the open welcome of all we met - whether other guests or residents, we were happy and our experience was beyond expectations. NCI is natural and beautiful with wildlife everywhere. We saw porpoises in the sound at the northern end of the island, we saw eagles and ospreys nesting - even had an osprey on the porch of the house next door to tell us goodbye this morning. We met a gopher tortoise in the yard yesterday and saw 7 of his friends and relatives out on the trails. We could not have been more pleased with our three days in the house at #201. We had everything we needed for wonderful adventure filled days and restful nights. We ate at three of the restaurants on the island and loved it all. I will definitely plan another trip to this little taste of paradise!!! Thanks so much for the smiles and waves and helping hands.
