Amazing vacation on Upper Captiva

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing, relaxing vacation on the island and in this house. The house is spacious and was clean (although the cushions on the porch couch could use a good cleaning). We had ordered our groceries at the Cape Coral Publix ahead of time and everything went very smoothly. We loved having the Keurig Coffee maker in the home - made for easy coffee since we brought our own k-cups. The house is very convenient to the beach and the pool so it was easy for the kids (teens and tweens) to do either.

As others have done, I recommend more groceries, fewer clothes. Buying food on the island, whether at the restaurants or the store, is very expensive (it's an island, so getting food to the island is costly). They do offer a $30 round-trip for groceries most mornings on the 9AM boat.

We mostly hung out in bathing suits with a cover-up and there's a great washing machine and dryer, so it's easy to just wash things. You should plan to bring your own detergent - and I recommend bringing aluminum foil or parchment paper if you plan to cook in the oven (even simple things like tacos or nachos, having something to line the pan will save on cleanup!)

Great location. Peaceful and lovely beaches.

Home was nice but would benefit from a new dishwasher (rusted inside) plus oven pans not the nicest. Otherwise very comfortable home with lots of space

Property was very nice and roomy. Exceptionally clean, well stocked and beds were very comfortable.

We had a great time during our first visit to N. Captiva. The kids liked this island better than Little Gasperilla and my husband prefers fishing in that area. The people working on the island were all extremely friendly and on top of any issues we had.

The house is really nice and secluded and we had a very good time despite the flood cased by Harvey.

Two small complaints though.

1)The person who is in charge of cleaning had not cleaned the dishes and ustensils in the kitchen.

2) The seats covers in the kitchen are extremely dirty and need to be replaced.

Other than that , everything was perfect.

Beautiful home in a private location.

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 8 had an incredible visit to Junonia. The home was clean and perfect for us. The walk to the beach was simple. We enjoyed the privacy of this home and the simplicity of living. Getting groceries was slightly complicated, but now we know how. There were a few things like issues with the golf cart and light bulbs out in various rooms.

But overall, we will return to Captiva.

We love renting jet skis and a boat for a day. Snorkeling and searching for manatees was a highlight. We also loved the boat ride to visit cabbage key and eat lunch in the cute little restaurant there. This was one of our greatest family vacations!
