Simple, chic, and well-appointed with plenty of room to spread out.

Avoid the crazy parking and noise of Portland and stay just over the border in Westbrook in our peaceful residential home. It's an easy hop on the freeway to LL Bean 20 minutes away. Or perhaps you'd like to hit the beaches - you have your choice of several within a 25 minute drive. You'll find two groceries stores within a mile and many restaurant options nearby.

Your favorite parts of the house will be the comfy beds, the sunny rooms, the awesome back deck for morning coffee and evening wine and entertaining, spacious bathroom with great shower head and unlimited hot water, shiny hardware floors, crown molding, and quiet residential street.

You'll also enjoy the Ikea kitchen and bathroom, teak dining room set, Crate & Barrel living room couch, and, for chilly fall & winter nights, a gas-fired fireplace. In summer, enjoy the fire pit with 5 Adirondack chairs out back.

We have provided many kitchen appliances - rice cooker, Ninja blender, food processor, ice tea maker, large slow cooker, waffle iron, toaster oven, 12-cup auto drip coffee maker with filters, French Press, and even a fondue set. And of course, the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, gadgets, utensils, sheet trays, and lots more. If you like to cook, you'll enjoy the kitchen and being able to cook dinner and watch the news at the same time on the 26" TV.

Enjoy reliable WiFi and a 42" TV with Apple TV with basic channels in the sun room, which is a favorite room in the house. It's a cozy space to relax and play board games. PLEASE NOTE: there is no cable TV at this home and we do not have TV's in the bedrooms. We offer the basic channels - NBC, CBS, and ABC - on our two TV's, so if watching cable in your bedroom on your vacation is important to you, this may not be the right home for you.

The crème de la crème is the back yard. You'll love to put your feet up and lounge on the back deck. And don't forget the gas grill for dining al fresco. If you like flowers, there is a full perennial garden out back. Whatever you choose, the air is fresh, and life is good!

We have put a lot of thought into making this house feel like a home for our guests with much of the house having been updated. If you have an appreciation for the European way (quality, simplicity, design), this is a nice place to rest while in town.

You'll enjoy parking in the driveway and not having to worry about living in the city where street parking is no fun. You'll also love the neighborhood - it's so quiet and safe on the dead-end street, and the neighbors are very friendly.

The airport and bus stations are also very close by. About 10 minutes, each, by taxi.

You will note that the house sleeps 5, even through we say it sleeps 4. This is because most parties that book our house are 4 or less, and with the new Best Match system, we must appeal to most. But we do have a small 3rd bedroom with a futon, which is perfect for a couple of small children, a teen, or a 5th adult who doesn't mind the smaller space. Keep in mind there is only 1 bathroom, so if you are staying for an extended trip, you may want a larger space than what we can offer.

Providing you with responsive, reliable, and friendly service is what we're all about. I'm the owner and my very handy partner is Mike. He fixes anything that goes wrong and mows the lawn, while I make sure that the house is clean and comfortable.

Our pet policy: small to medium-sized dogs are allowed with permission and a $50 nonrefundable pet deposit. Dogs pets must be treated for fleas and ticks. Please clean up in the yard after your pet. Most importantly, DOGS MAY NOT BE LEFT ALONE WITHOUT A CRATE and are HIGHLY encouraged to be attended at all times. A report of barking dogs by neighbors or the police is grounds for IMMEDIATE termination of stay at this property with no refund for days remaining or for any security deposit. Do not ask if your dog(s) may come with you if you cannot follow these rules.

About Chris

Mike & I are both Mainahs! Mike is from Peaks Island and I'm from Cape Elizabeth, so living near the water is in our blood. Mike is a 3-generation woodworker turned private yacht captain and I'm a corporate finance professional. We both love travel! I can't wait to take Mike to Europe and he wants to take me to St. John. We're also thinking of WWoofing in Costa Rica and doing volunteer work all over the world.

I have lived and worked in New Zealand, Australia, Paris, and London, along with domestic locations in Arizona and North Carolina. I moved back to Maine in 2005 to be close to my family and actually love the winters here. I attended college in North Carolina and grad school in Arizona and am currently taking courses in Humane Education and Herbs. I have a professional chef's certification in Plant-Based Cuisine and owned my own personal chef and meal delivery business for nearly 5 years.

Mike is a grandfather and father of two grown girls, and I'm a lifelong bachelorette. Together, we have a great time dancing (how we met), singing karaoke, gardening, traveling, and cooking. We love to entertain and also to spend quiet evenings cuddled on the couch.

Your comfort is important to us, and we live locally to assist you in making sure you are taking care of.

I turned this home into a vacation rental after a month-long trip to California, when renting it was a necessity. While away, the rental requests kept coming at a furious pace, and I kept accepting. Upon returning home, I needed a place to live, so Mike & I purchased a small condo!

Turning my home into a vacation rental has been the most fun. Upgrades are continual and my attention never waivers from making my home a home for you.

Why Chris chose Westbrook

I looked at around 60 properties before I purchased this one. It was the only one that had all of my requirements: hardwood floors, high ceilings, built in 1900, of Colonial design, fireplace, and strong bones. I LOVE this house.

What makes this house unique

This property has been renovated over the last 6 years to include new siding, bathroom, kitchen, lighting, paint, decks, and landscaping. Our lifestyle approach is very much a sustainable one, with chemical use at a minimum, recycled products at a maximum, and the overall tone of our house being one of European design.

Portland Life is Unbeatable!

Chris’s attention to detail and making sure the house is spotless upon arrival is the reason I will keep coming back. I always feel like I am home when I stay here. It is comforting to know that Chris checks in upon arrival to guarantee that I have a stress free get away. The property is close to all the places I enjoy- a yoga class, great restaurants and Whole Foods to name a few. Easy access to roads that lead to Portland and beyond makes staying at Chris’s property an added bonus.

Pleasantly surprised

The house is really cosy and clean.

Everything was provided in the house.

The house has very nice wooden floors and a big backyard.

Chris responded all questions we had very quickly and was a joy to work with.

Charming, family friendly house

Chris was fantastic to work with. She provided plenty of recommendations for our stay and we were able to maximize our time. The accommodations were perfect! Well equipped kitchen, gorgeous remodeled bathroom, three nice sized bedrooms with storage. The pool table and dart board in the basement were a bonus. With Netflix and board games we were able to relax at night after a long days of exploring. I know where we are staying when we return!

Charming House with Great Location

We loved our stay at this house! Everything about it worked perfectly - it was close to family and still a short drive to Old Port and downtown. The kitchen was incredibly well-appointed - everything you could need was available, and there was even some local coffee available to kick off our trip. Kris was great about responding to all of the questions that popped up, and I know my parents enjoyed getting to visit with her before I arrived. We also got to experience the fire pit in the backyard - what a comfortable way to spend a beautiful, clear fall evening! We'll hopefully be staying again on our next visit!

Peace and Serenity Up North

From the moment we stepped through the front door we felt an overwhelming sense of peace and serenity. The house was impeccable clean upon check in. Chris made sure through out the week that our holiday was one filled with memories to last a life time. The property is perfectly situated for adventures to: Parsons Beach, Ferry trips to Casco Bay Islands, The Well at Jordans Farm and all the wonderful bakeries and ice cream parlors within Portland. Maine the way life should be can be found at Chris's property.

Car: recommended

There is so much to do in Portland that you may want to stay for a week, and at least 2 days, to get a feel for the place. You can't get a bad meal in town, and with a plethora of local breweries, you could just eat and drink your way around. The lighthouses are a real treat, too.
