Historic apartment.

  • 4 of 5

We just recently stayed in this property. The location was good for walking to the quarter, Armstrong park and Frenchmen street. Grocery store across the street from the apartments was very helpful. Bed was comfortable. Apartment was very clean. Nice fluffy towels to use. Robert was very helpful in anything we needed even brought us bag chairs to go to music in the park. Would recommend staying here if you want to be close to most things yet peaceful when you come home. Nice to be on the first floor and no stairs to climb. The patio in the back we did not use, due to it being closed in and not much air circulation. Did sit out front and watched people going by.

I would give this more stars for location, very convenient! The apartment was clean, but dark and depressing; the sofa had big springs sticking out. Finally the owner showed us how to open the shutters to let more light in. Bedding needed to be replaced with something newer, not so worn. Pillows were awful, owner said I could have brought my own. Bath had newer vanity, but had I seen the roach on the first day,my stay would have been shorter. Had a great time in the city though. Too bad, this could be a very charming spot for a return visit. I would not recommend this place.

Owner's Response: Interestingly, we called the single lady staying in the apartment just after these people and asked if the springs were sticking out of the sofa. She said no, but asked if she could stay in the apartment three additional days she liked it so much. These travelers were pretty much inebriated their entire stay. The husband was yelling at his wife from the hallway that she had locked him out.... and when they complained there wasn't light in the living room I investigated and found that they had neither turned on the light nor opened the shutters. Apparently they couldn't figure out the light switch on the wall.

Don't rent this place.

When I saw the front door to this ugly little building, I knew this place was a dump. The sofa in the dank and dark living room was a cheap piece of junk and the windows in the bedroom did not open. Forget about fresh air. The manager couldn't hang around long enough to let us in. We were supposed to stay three days but left after two. I would rate this place zero stars actually.

Owner's Response: Since we do not have a front desk like a hotel, we ask guests to let us know what time they will arrive so we can let them in. The guest had told us that he was transferring from a hotel in the city and would arrive at Noon. After waiting two hours, we called the guest at 2:00 p.m. and were told they had decided to go and eat lunch and weren't aware they had a deadline. At four p.m. they still had not shown up....As for the living room being dark.... only if you don't open the shutters on the window... There are two eight foot windows in an apartment with 12 foot ceilings. We suppose the tenant was too incapacitated by lunch to figure out how to open the windows and the shutters. The shutters are closed at night in the French Quarter to eliminate street noise. As for leaving early? Oddly, we think the bad review is because the guest asked to keep the apartment until late in the afternoon so they could have lunch and come back before leaving for the apartment. We had clients coming in that afternoon and told them we could store luggage for them, but that we had to have the room vacated so it could be available for the next clients. They didn't seem to understand that....

Great location in 1830's building

  • 3 of 5

This rental is in a great location in the French Quarter. Walking to everything is a snap. We felt safe even walking later at night. Small convenience store (with fantastic po boys) located across the street. The street is generally quiet but there is traffic noise, which we didn't notice after the first night. It's a nice size for two people. There is a large refrigerator, electric stove and microwave. Lots of closet space. Robert, the property manager, was responsive; however, in the evening he's located at least 45 mins away and when the front door lock failed we had to wait about 50 mins for him to arrive to open it.

This 180 year old building has no central air or heat. The 3 space heaters warmed the unit well -- it was cold in the evenings and we really needed them. The unit was clean but obviously well-used. The small flat screen TV was fine for us. The shower drained slowly. The bathroom is small with limited shelf space. We moved the luggage rack into the bathroom, placed our carry-on suitcase on top of it, and used that as a shelf for toiletries. It was well equipped with toilet paper, paper towels and bath linens.

Very Pleasant Experience

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the time at Jazz apartment again. The best feature is probably the location in the Quarter. Very centrally located and handy to all that we enjoy in the FQ. Management is very easy to deal with and pays attention to our needs. We will stay there again when in N. Orleans, if it's available.

Thanks for a nice stay.
