About Heather MacDonald

Heather was born and raised in Inverness and she is a 4th generation Invernesser. Her husband Mark married into the MacDonald family and has made Inverness his “second home” every summer since 1996.

We currently live in Edmonton and travel to Inverness every summer to spend time with family and enjoy the ocean and all that Cape Breton has to offer. Our goal is to have our guests enjoy both the cottage and Inverness as much as we do. We love to relax on the deck or balcony with a glass of wine after a day at the beach or hike along the coast. We are excited about learning new ways we can help our guests create wonderful vacations with lasting memories.

Heather MacDonald purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Heather MacDonald chose Cape Breton Island

We built the cottage in 2011 to provide us with a place of our own for our yearly visits to Inverness and Cape Breton.

What makes this cottage unique

- Natural spruce interior and exterior

- Spacious deck with BBQ

- King size bed and balcony in 2nd floor master bedroom

- Bright and welcoming interior

- Enjoy the sunset from the deck, balcony, or kitchen table

Love this house!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage in Inverness. The owners were very attentive and quick to help when we had questions.

The house is as shown; complete with everything you need during your stay. It is comfortable and clean. What we really liked is the location. It is in a neighborhood so you feel very safe. There are kids playing outside and very little traffic. It is quiet and homey. You can walk to three or four restaurants and the grocery store if you do not have a car. We drove everywhere only because we were playing golf at Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links. Both courses are within a couple of miles (The Links course is almost a walk away but we drove.). We recommend this home because it is clean, safe, and near a lot of nice amenities. We would rent it again if we were going to play golf again at Cabot.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your feedback, Rick and Maryann, and it was wonderful to have you at the cottage. We’re so glad you found it homey, safe, and well situated - we also enjoy being right in town and having easy access to so many amenities. We would love to have you visit again so please do keep Cabot on your list of courses to play in the future. Kind regards. Heather and Mark

Four of us from the US came to Cape Breton for Celtic Colours. Inverness was a perfect spot to stay. Heather's house is wonderful. Clean, comfortable. Just as described. There are many good restaurants nearby. Grocery store too. Heather's

mother was very helpful. We all loved staying there!

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful and had all of the necessities to make our stay very comfortable, including washer and dryer, dishwasher, spacious home that was centrally located with a partial view of the ocean. We enjoyed the spacious deck that allowed us to have friends and family over for a BBQ. The home was clean and Donalda was great to check in and make sure we had what we needed.Huge bonus to have two washrooms for the kids. We had a great time horse back riding and other than my nieces wedding the highlight of our trip was having the opportunity to attend and play Cabot Cliffs golf coarse. We have never experienced anything like this golf coarse. This home was more and had more than we expected and we will be returning as well as recommending it to our friends and family.

Ideal House for Golfers!

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay for a week while exploring Cape Breton or playing Cabot Cliffs and Links courses. Very comfortable, clean and modern house. Well stocked and decorated. Location only a few minutes drive to clubhouse and a block away from Backstreet Coffee and other shops.

Heather and Mark provided lots of info for our group to insure we got the most out of our stay. (Salmon fishing with Conrad from Eagle Eye was up there with golf!). Donalda and Wayne were there for us serving as property managers if we needed anything. We felt like a part of the village by the second day. Can't wait to return.

This is the cleanest place we've stayed at. Its a 2 mins. walk to the main street in Inverness and 10 mins to the beach. Quiet location and accommodations provided us with all we needed.

It was a pleasure dealing with Heather and Mark. Would rent here again. Thanks for a great place to stay.
